After I saw your Golden Half I decided to buy one. It seems to be small so it'll be more easier to carry than my other 35mm camera. I just hope I'll be able to take nice photos as yours :) Have a nice day! I really love your pictures, they are so pretty. After I saw your Golden Half I decided to buy one. The original is Holga 120 and that uses special 120mm film and requires special development as well. I have a Holga 135. It uses 35mm film which is easily available and the standard for photo development so having the film processed should be pretty easy. If you go with the Holga120 it would be good to locate a place willing to develop your film first. I know a few friends who have to ship off their 120 film for development and wait days or longer for photos while 35mm film can still be often processed within 1-hour. For these photos I dropped them off at Target and picked them up an hour later when I was done shopping :) Depends on the Holga you want. The cameras are designed like the old 60's~70's cameras. So they let in light, aren't crisp and clear, capture the light in pastel colors ect. It's mostly all the camera but film choice has a slight effect too. For these I was using Agfa brand 200 speed. It gives more a vintage feel than let's say a Fujifilm 400 speed. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/happiijenny/tags/fujifilm400/) If you're interested my Flickr has more of my film photos. I used to note within the tags which film was used & camera. Unfortunately many of the photos are hidden because I'm no longer pro, but 200 are still there :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/happiijenny Nope it’s all the camera!!! " YUP!! I recommend using a 400 speed until you get a handle on the camera's lighting/a sense for how film reacts to these toy cameras. If you buy 100 speed and then take all dark photos with no flash you will be VERY unhappy with the results. My favorite has always been Fujifilm Superia X-TRA 400 :) "And then drop it off at the drugstore or something to process the photos? " YUP! Just note that it's a "toy camera." For my golden half I let them know they'll see 2 photos per 1 frame and to just print them as is. "Or do you need to buy special film? " NOPE, not usually! Unless you're using a camera that requires something else besides 35mm film. I only bought cameras that use 35mm film because it's easy to find & easy to have developed. For example the Holga uses 120mm film which costs more to buy & develop. MOST toy cameras use 35mm though. Once you become familiar with different film & film speeds you can branch out and BUY special film. Forever I have a ton of Lomography brand 100 speed film. You'll notice the color differences and quality between brands and speeds. Lomography brand also puts out a redscale ready film and other color special 35mm films now but I haven't tried it. Urban Outfitters used to sell that stuff like crazy so they still might :) “can you just use regular film from like Target in this camera? ”

Target :P I used to go to Ritz Camera but they're all slowly closing down. I used to just get the negatives developed then scan them in with my photo scanner. But now I just dump it off at Target, get prints, scan the prints. $7 :) And is there anything I need to tell the photo technician to get both shots on the same frame? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Yes, yes, yes. In the "notes" portion just say that it is a "toy camera" that puts two snapshots on one frame and that they can just print the frames "as is" with two photos on 1 print. So far it hasn't been a problem :) But the first time I left it at Target and didn't leave a note they didn't process it because it was confusing. I note it's a toy camera on my other two camera's film too now. Where do you get your film processed?
