Right to Left-

Thought I’d post my current new & favorite makeup items. Lately I’m using these items the most. It’s a simple and fast look, so I like it for the work-week. It also incorporates all my newest purchases for spring. There’s no liquid liner, no falsies,… no lipstick even (though I did apply a semi-clear pink gloss.) So it’s just a fresh, easy look. I’ve sort of been doing Rinka-inspired makeup lately. Rinka tends to stick to a bright fresh face look.

A few items I never really blogged about.

Benefit’s Eye Bright
I’ll start with Benefit’s Eye Bright since I had a few people ask about it. I just picked it up Saturday. So far I like it. I usually used the white glitter shadow in my Kate dual carat palette for the inner corners of my eyes; but I tossed it. I had it for a while and was hitting pan. On a whim I bought Eye Bright. I like how it’s more subtle but also better at brightening up my bottom waterline. But because it’s a cream it does tend to crease after a few hours if I line under my bottom lashes. However it works great just on the inner corners and lasts longer than using eyeshadow. I’ve only had it for a few days so I haven’t tried it in other ways just yet. I’m happy with it but wouldn’t call it a holy grail item for me. Probably wouldn’t re-buy.

Shu Uemura’s Double End Eye Crayon
Another fat pencil purchase I made was Shu Uemura’s Double End Eye Crayon from their celestial garden spring mode collection! The shades are misty brown & earthy brown.
LOVE. #forevernoregrets

I like the more taupe “misty brown” for lining my bottom outer eye corner. It’s subtle but still adds some depth. The “earthy brown” is a pretty great shade too. It’s lighter than my Dolly Wink brown pencil liner but darker than my SANA Hazel crayon liner! I was worried about having repeating brown liners but thankfully instead I now have 4 varying shades of brown pencil liners

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer
Got this at Christmas Karme! LOVE IT! I’ve found my primer!! holy grail holy grail. My biggest issue with all the primers I tried in the past were that they’d cause me acne. Even ones meant for sensitive skin like Smashbox’s Photo Finish Light. But this one by Hourglass I’ve been using for 2 months now and I can say with certainty that it doesn’t break me out. It’s also a fantastic primer. Definitely can tell a difference, not just with applying my makeup, but how it looks 8+ hours later.
I will re-buy it forever.

Nars Orgasm Blush
I needed a more subtle and natural shade in my blush collection of bright pinks and bold oranges. So I finally bought the de Facto blush;
Nars in the shade Orgasm.

I’ve tried Benefit’s eye bright in store before and it really does make a difference, but I just couldn’t stand the price they list it as. :C In Canada, it’s $25.00!!

jenny said
February 20, 2012 @ 7:22 pm

I really wish it were half the size & price. It’s $20usd.

Understandable. I know not everyone is prone to the same things but it still helps right!?

It’s soooo hard getting used to. It took me literally months to do more “natural” looking makeup. I would try again & again & it would always be over-the-top! Took so much practice, both dramatic & natural makeup looks have their challenges. I respect that now haha!

You look gorgeoussss~~~ I previously swapped for the Benefit Eyebright and while I too wasn’t that impressed with it as an inner corner brightener, it’s absolutely fabulous as an brow highlighter! I do a few strokes under the arch of each brow then quickly blend out with my finger - it definitely highlights with a very natural subtle glow (still visible on us pale girlies!) without any shimmer or glitter or fading huhu I’ve tried it both with and without primer and it works great either way I’m going to check out those clinique concealers the next time I’m at the mall~~

Tried it this morning… me likey! I thought maybe it was too pigmented for it but worked out great after blending! Thanks!

I prefer Clinique’s Blusing Blush in Precious Posy more than NARS Orgasm. They are basically the same color, but the Clinique is 1) cheaper and 2) fragrance free.

Gah, you’re so pretty~!
:o i’ve got sensitive skin too, and it’s a pain trying to find primers/foundations that wont break me out T_T. Is the hourglass primer expensive?

jenny said
February 21, 2012 @ 8:55 am

It’s not the cheapest, I’ll be honest, but I have the smaller .33 bottle (it’s $17) and I’ve used it DAILY since Christmas and I still have about 1/2 a bottle left. They make a 1oz bottle that’s $52. To give you an idea of where that stands, 1oz of Smashbox primer is $32.

I want to go to Sephora in NY and start hoarding cosmetics now. *u* Hihi. I only stick to Clinique just because I’ve tried and tested the products already. I really, really, really want to try Shu Uemura and other Japanese cosmetics.

You look amazing and your hair is gorgeous in this picture!

Whenever I read your make-up posts I just want to barge in to Sephora and buy everything in sight, but when I get there… I just get lost in the sea of choices. :(

jenny said
February 21, 2012 @ 8:24 am

I feel the same. I often just browse Sephora if I’m looking for something new but I don’t know exactly which I’m going to go with. Usually I try to browse their site before I go into the store to try it out. It’s daunting all those choices!

How can you be so pale ;_; Brazil sucks >: You can’t actually be pale, maybe because i usually don’t wear sunscreen? >_> Clinique is really that good? I had the opportunity to buy it, but… It’s too pricey to buy and than don’t work lol I need to invest in better makeup/skincare products >_>

jenny said
February 21, 2012 @ 9:46 am

Wait, are you envious of my paleness!? If so, no no no pale is not good LOL At least not in the US. I’m pale because it’s winter so there’s very little sun but to be honest even in summer I’m just not out in the sun (city life) or if I am I have sunscreen. My daily moisturizer has a sunscreen too.

Etienne said
February 21, 2012 @ 10:25 am

Being pale is also ~bad~ in Brazil In a country where tans are a must on summer… And i actually don’t wear anything short, so i have 2 skin colors! That’s a common problem brazilian people have >: Really sad ;_; And i need to buy sunscreen too lol

Kate said
February 25, 2012 @ 9:12 pm

hey! pale is pretty even if some society thinks we ought to be tan!!

us redheads like myself can’t ever hope to tan. so we must defend our pale honor, haha.

You look so gorgeous :] Your makeup is pretty too. I’m trying to wear a more natural makeup but I mess up a lot. I always put on my eyeliner too thick or my eyeshadow is super obvious but practice makes perfect.

jenny said
February 21, 2012 @ 11:09 am

So, so been there. I spent many months last year practicing more natural looks but I too would end up drawing too thick of eyeliner or using too much shadow. Too dramatic of blush. I suddenly appreciated the artfulness of natural makeup style without looking makeup-less.

I am TOTALLY loving this palette of colors!! The earthy browns and bright/cheerful but subtle highlighters!! OMGOMGOMGGGG….I can never do primers for the same reason - I’ll have to check out that Hourglass primer. With a face that gets oily as mine - I need as much shine control as I can get x__x

PS: OMGGGG Is your hair really that long now?!! OMGGGG you need to double as Rinka in a US version or something….. so loverlyyyy!

jenny said
February 21, 2012 @ 11:11 am

It’s pretty popular I hope they make a good sample size to hand out soon to be honest.

Ah I WISH my hair was 1: this long. 2: looked this good when long. But alas, wig.

Nah it’s a wig I’ve used many times before, I use it when I’m bored. I’m really like P&J a lot & the powder hasn’t seemed to cause any break outs so I’m good to go! I also love the quality of the shadows
