Japanese Snacks

So a few more things I got while at the Tokyo grocery store. These all made it home with me. Things I either didn’t eat at the hotel or on the plane or take into work with me!

I have a Country Ma’am addiction. I always buy them when I can. My friend is kind enough to send them as well. Sadly they don’t seem to easy to get in the States. They’re a perfect blend of chewy and crispy baked. Much like Keebler’s Soft Batch but less lard tasting to me. Country Ma’am also constantly has special limited flavors.
This time I picked up the flavors -
- Vanilla & Cocoa combo pack
- Polar Bear (shaved ice)
- Matcha Latte
- Rich Luxury Chocolate (Mother’s Day themed!)

Otona Kit-Kat
I adore this kit-kat series. It’s meant to be an “adult” kit-kat and has biscuits instead of wafers and uses a bitter dark chocolate.

Rose themed candies.
The fuwarinka soft candies were fantastic tasting and have added collagen, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C. The other is gum.
The UHA candy on the left is a hard rose mango flavored candy. It’s sugar-free and contains 3300mg of vitamin C! :deco1:

TEAS!
Various teas. Rose flavored and more. A yuzu flavored one even. The far left are the hanging tea bags with a Dayan of Wachifield in London theme!!

The Cosmetic CHARMING tea really caught my eye. Basically promises you a beautiful suppin (or no makeup) look. Contains rooibos, rose hips, ginger, etc. etc. Sorta strange taste but not necessarily bad. It’s quite roasted and full body tasting.

DOUTOR coffee bean candy and instant mixes.

Van Houten cocoa mix. Nothing like the ready to drink conbini Van Houten cocoa but still not bad.

Torte which is like a soft wafer cookie. This one is apple pie tasting. And Meiji Strawberry Marshmallow Chocolate. I like the marshmallow Meiji bars because they taste light.

the DOUTOR chocolate that you post out at your instagram. Anyhow I couldn’t find in at Japanese store in Malaysia. I like this post. Have you try out dorayaki ? That’s my fav Japanese snack. I think I gonna try out others instead of sticking at the same food. You really make a good review. =)
I have, I have~ that’s definitely a more “Japanese” snack. It feels weird to call kit-kats and cookies “Japanese snacks” but c’est la vie~ :) Japanese snacks broken down into two worlds :D
Japanese snacks are seriously the best! And I love how everything is individually packaged inside every box. Country Ma’am cookies are so yummy too~ I’ve tried the Matcha Latte and instantly fell in love with it :3 And that Kit Kat looks so good!! I’m a huge dark chocolate fan xD
Ahh I absolutely love Otona Kit-Kats! They are my favorite! I pick them up whenever I’m at Mitsuwa. I must try out the fuwarinka soft candies (if…I ever get my hands on them). They sound delicious!
I love the hanging tea bags! So adorable!
Ah same! I originally saw it at my local J-grocery shop and picked it up because “adult” called out to me, haha! By far my favorite of any specialty kit-kats I’ve tried!
My husband and I were just talking about Kit-Kats today! He was saying how disappointed he was coming to the U.S. and finding out we didn’t have as many Kit-Kat flavors as they did back in Japan. LOL. Those Country Ma’am look amazing. Haven’t tried those before.
I love shopping at konbini cos the array of snacks available is just crazy! And the packaging are so tempting too. I received the Van Houten cocoa mix for X’mas last year and I was a happy girl. :D
Japanese snacks are the best right! Here i can get korean snacks easier, but whenever i see a japanese package, i have the urge to eat them! XD I never tasted any japanese flavor from KitKat, just the american ones >: Boring! Again the matcha latte flavor… i really need to try this!
Yea the US only has milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and white chocolate Kit-Kat types x(
Too bad we only have generic Kit-Kats over here (and imported, they are hard to find.)
I find amusing how they build this “adult” label with this Otona thing (in general, like make up, lifestyle), for example, Men’s Pocky just because it’s bitter chocolate.
I don’t know if I shoud be amazed or scared of all the teas and snacks with supplements.
But everything looks cute and the Country Ma’am looks tasty as well! Thanks for sharing!
Japanese people really like that kind of labeling right? Like “Ikemen drinks black coffee” and “Ladies enjoy rose’s scent” and stuff! It’s pretty funny actually.
Wow they all look and sound so good! Have you tried the green tea Kit Kat? That’s my favorite~ Actually, anything matcha is my favorite (^_^;;)
I have! Pretty good :)
Semi-healthy treats? AWESOME! That Meiji Chocolate looks delicious!
Are they? I feel most of this was very unhealthy, haha. I wish the cookies weren’t 50 calories each t__t
The tea balances everything out I maybe xD
these items are catching my eye as well! i’d really like to have a try T_T

Hi jenny! May I know where can I get the tea bags aside from their online site? Any idea which shop/mall in Tokyo can I get them from?
Thanks! ^^
I’m not sure exactly which tea you mean but I’ll assume the Dayan bags? I bought them in Shinjuku at a Wachi Field store specifically. There are other hanging tea bags in various gift shops; they were a little hard to find though. I’ve seen some in the States though imported from Germany with holiday themes like cupid :P
Sorry for not specifying which tea. >
Ive always wanted those matcha cookies! I see them everytime I go to the markets…ME WANT theyre like 12 dollars here or SOMETHING RIDICULOUS
I have tried the Marshmallow Chocolate – it’s deliiiiicious :D
I miss the wide range of sweets TT___TT Japan is so innovative~
I love how they have so funny flavors :D Btw, wasn’t it you that was a fan of Peter Forsberg? :) I just came to think about it since he just became a dad:)
Ahahahah yep! Sure was! I can’t believe you remembered! Oh man I didn’t know about that. Did he marry that Swedish model he used to date? I haven’t kept tabs in like 10 years though :X so I’m completely out of the loop t__t
o0o ahh Y they no make those flavors here in US. :(
The coffee candy caught my eye – how was it? :) I love coffee stuff! My Mom always brings back candies and cookies from Korea when she visits. I love the stuff SO much! At the Asian market, I always have to get shrimp chips and Hello Panda cookies. XD
They chocolate covered coffee beans? Excellent! :) Very rich. I only ate a few at a time for a few days.
I love so much Cosmetic CHARMING!
The package looks so feminine ♥ do they sell this only?
Amazing tea purchase :D
I saw it for sale on Rakuten actually :)
Online*
Instant stick coffee! I want to try that too XD How was the polar bear country ma’am? Looks really interesting.
I’m always unsure about bring snacks back from Japan. I’m scared Australian customs will take it from me :( hehe
The polar ice was VERY good. Tart and sweet with a citrus fruity flavor.
Yummmm @ Country Ma’am~~~ I love the green tea version!!
Oh where did you get the Cosmetic Charming tea? I’m sold!
I /think/ I got it at a Matsukiyo in Shinjuku but when googling it I saw they sell it online through Rakuten stores.
UR SITE IS DIFF WTF
Oh Jim. I know you’re just “preparing for death, serving others, and staying right with our God.”
Craycraycommentiscray
ahahaha you’ve been checking out my dating profile huh? SEXY LADY
:9 looks nice…you certainly brought a lot of snacks home, I’m surprised! hopefully they’re not all crushed from the flight
I know right. I always hauled their drinks back.
japanese snacks are the best
Ohh such good grocery finds! I want to try the apple torte~ I’m just drawn to the waffle-shape!
Jenny, which airline do you usually take when you travel to Japan? Also, by any chance do you know what is the normal air fare price range to say, Tokyo?
Hmmm, you live in calif though right? You’re 3,000 miles closer to Tokyo than me so your ticket will be much cheaper than mine ever could be xD You probably have more carrier choices too living closer with no need for layovers. But I will say I found taking Japan owned airlines better with customer service. Though I did take Singapore air this past time. AirBus was nice and going there was a dream but coming back was not as nice because Tokyo was a pit-stop for the plane and it wasn’t as clean as before. More than you wanted to know probably lol
Lol, yeah I guess I asked a weird question, didn’t I ? =.=
Anyways, thanks for the reply! My friend has been asking me to go over to visit her in Japan on September but I was shocked by the pricey air fare! Well i guess there are cheaper options : China Airline, but I won’t want to fly with them again due to my bad experience last time..
It’s ok. I get asked this quite a lot and often people in different countries so the airfare is WAY different in that scenario. I just only know the price of 2 people from DC :D But yeah. It’s like crazy pricey. Best to roll into a package deal if possible.
Everything looks great! I’m quite piqued with the Cosmetic Charming tea. I would really like to try that one out along with the Meiji Strawberry Marshmallow Chocolate. :)
Yummy junk food!
These all look tasty, especially the strawberry marshmellow chocolate. Are the kitkat’s dark chocolate as well? We get dark chocolate wafer versions in the UK but biscuit would be nicer, I’m not a fan of wafer.
Yes, they’re dark bitter chocolate. I’ve tried the US dark chocolate kit-kats (with the wafer too) and it’s not as bitter as this version. I agree, I prefer the biscuit :P
