Some iPhone snaps of what I’ve been up to lately. By far one of my favorite days was visiting the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum hanger. I had never made it out to the hanger before. The Space Shuttle Discovery is now retired there and is absolutely fantastic to see so up close.
These are part of an interesting photography exhibit at the DC Smithsonian Air & Space museum.
Aircraft

Also did a little shopping. I’m replace two of my old skirts. I picked up a chiffon black skirt and this gold sequin skirt from H&M. I haven’t shopped at H&M in a while. I’m coming to terms with the fact that Madewell’s dresses & skirts just aren’t made for my body shape. Plus these were quite affordable. Actually the 2 skirts they’re replacing are also H&M, haha! hmmmmmm~ :deco2:
I can’t wait to wear this during the holiday season too with black tights! I also picked up a simple black sweater from Madewell. A key item I’ve wanted for a while. My old black knit sweater just wasn’t working anymore so I donated it some time ago.
I tried a few things on at JCREW too but talked myself out of spending $250 on a pair of pants and a cardigan. :deco13:
At least I’ve been pretty good at not buying any new makeup! :deco13: Since Tokyo I’ve only purchased the essential items I use. That said, I decided it was time to go through my makeup and purge a little. And yes, blush is my favorite point-makeup type. I enjoy wearing blush more than any eye color or lip color. :deco9:
Some of my lip colors. I keep a few at work too like Baby Lips or whatever. I’m looking to expand on my 1 Chanel lip color. It’s by far my favorite and most used. I don’t really wear lip color consistently.
^^MY PURGED! I was HEAVILY inspired by Karen to follow suit and dump my mac lipsticks. I don’t really use them as often as I used to anyway. I also stopped visiting my local mac stores and counters because the customer service just treated me poorly 1 too many times. When I go to the Chanel counter I’m treated like a freakin’ princess so yeah, I go to the Chanel counter a lot now (though they’re usually sold out of the shades I want.) So there’s other options out there.
The blushes are mostly duplicated colors in my collection so I decided to purge out repetitive shades.
I haven’t done a “current makeup” since last November. I’d like to do one soon because it’s just fun for me to look back on them. Though posting my Japan makeup haul is almost my complete collection.
I know instagram & tumblr are sort of better places to find me these days rather than my blog. I feel 1/2 guilty about that, but it is what it is. Also sorry many of these photos are repetitive because of other social media accounts I have!

Whoa whoa whoa… what do you mean purged?
Are you selling the mac lippies? I would like to take them off your hands =) Please let me know where/if/when you are selling these!
I really appreciate that but I’m not selling them or giving them away online unfortunately.

Usually I sterilize them and ship them off to my little sister but I think she might be getting tired of all the secondhand makeup lol
Hi Jenny, Don’t throw away the mac lipsticks! If you take 5 old or used up make up cases from Mac you get a brand new lipstick back. You have four lipsticks there, so if you just have one more old foundation or eyeshadow case or anything, you can get a free lipstick. I am not sure if it is like that in the States, but it is like that here in australia, so I think it is worth calling up before you go. Free lipstick!
I really appreciate that. I’ve heard of their recycle program. However I’m not interested in any new Mac makeup. Though you made me realize that, if my sister doesn’t want them, I could at least recycle them at the Mac store so thank you! :)

I really like JCrew but it’s so expensive…I try to find similar pieces from other places instead~ One day when I’m loaded I will buy outfits from there!!

Oh my goodness, I remember going to that same exact exhibit when I was visiting DC! I also go through a routinely make up clean up – more specifically eye shadows. I have so many eye shadows (all neutrals) and I just don’t know why! I shouldn’t buy so many when it is so difficult for me to hit pan (I get home so late from my classes that all I want to do is go to bed instead of taking the time out to thoroughly wash my face).
Aside from that, I’ve avoided H&M like the plague. It’s so odd. I have not found one thing that I’ve wanted to purchase at H&M other than a few shorts. I’ve been doing…strangely well not shopping these days minus the few…Zara shoes that have recently been stopped haha.

That’s how I’ve been with hm too! I hadn’t bought anything from them in a freakin year!!!! I almost didn’t buy these skirts but was feeling itchy to shop and both skirt styles had been on my mental “wishlist” for some time.
Ugh hitting pan is such a constant quest for me!! Lately I’ve been accomplishing it pretty well. With things like powder, eyeliners, mascara, bbcream, primers, and lip colors. But shadows and blushes… I can’t recall the last time I’ve hit pan on those. It’s been literally years back when I hardly wore makeup and owned like 1 blush hahaha!

Those photos are incredibly cool, considering they were taken on an iPhone! Mine always end up being so, so, so, blurry, ugh.
Make-up purges are often the best and worst things, don’t you think? I’ve got a tray for all my make-up and I know I need to go through it, but I can’t bring myself to right now. Haha! Can’t believe you’re throwing out Dolly Wink items too! I tend to hoard those so badly. I suppose if you want new stuff, you need to be practical. (^___~)
Completely agree. I just try to stay realistic and unbiased and really think about how often I use the product and if I’m happy with it 100% + the length of time I’ve had it. Sometimes I’ll go through my makeup and fall in love with an item all over again. But then sometimes I’ll give something another chance before purging it only to realize it really isn’t something I love to use anymore. I don’t purge to want new stuff though. Usually I purge because I already bought new stuff hahaha!

Ahh~ purging makeup is such a nice feeling.
funny, I’ve always loved Chanel make-up and I’ve always felt I was treated like a princess at the Chanel counters. I own a lot of Chanel make-up. M.A.C only arrived much later here, and I always felt I was treated with despise by the ladies there, even when I spent money. I left the M.A.C counter without purchasing stuff I had planned to buy a lot because of that. maybe it’s an international phenomena! XD
Aww, I’m so sad that the MAC folks aren’t giving good customer service. I guess I’ve been lucky, because I’ve had mostly nice staff. One lady I didn’t like because she was TOO aggressive, and I already have a makeup artist that I like. Oh well. Anyway, I’m excited to go to a Chanel counter now! I’ve never tried any of their makeup products!
