When the distance hurts

I’m waiting 10 minutes to call my Dad. I just got off the phone with my grandmother. My Mom is in the hospital. She had sudden seizures last night and is still confused and disoriented. They don’t know what’s wrong. I’m over 1,000 miles away and I have no idea what to do. I’m waiting for my Dad to get back to her hospital room so that I can try calling her. She might not recognize who I am though since it’s over the phone.

I’m so upset. I’m so scared. They don’t know why she’s having seizures or why they have left her disoriented. They said that it’s not normal and brought in a neurologist.

She’s been sick on again & off again for 3 months with bronchitis. However we were beginning to fear she might have emphysema or lung cancer (she’s a lifetime smoker.) Other than that my Mom’s been healthy… so this is such a shock. And I can’t do anything! I’m no where near ANY family.. any friends for that matter. Thank God I have Mike. But I feel I’m letting her down. I need to know if I should buy a plane ticket. It sucks!!! I can’t get any information :(.
