Final Selection

Monday September 03, 2007

Today we had our “Final Selections Meeting” with the builder for our new house! [Where you choose all flooring, cabinets, appliances, fixtures, and lighting.] It was so stressful, but fun too :!: . The 2 things I hate most- Long-lasting choices and numbers. And I had to deal with both today. My main concern is still the hardwood floors. They will be getting their costs to us tomorrow or Wednesday. We’ll then know whether it would be more cost effective to go through them or an independent flooring company. (no advice on this please, I’ve already gotten more than desired, sorry!) We are really happy though. I got the carpet and flooring upgrades I wanted. OHMYGOSH my bathroom is going to be so gorgeous. It’s going to be so bright and spa-like :supercry: !!

We’re moving late November but it seems like we’ll NEVER get there :eep: . I dunno, this beautiful house seems SO far away because we still have a lot to do to get there. Mortgage closings, painting and other changes, actual move in, furniture shopping and more. :( I wish I could just go to sleep & wake up in January 08! :;_;:

Sounds all so exciting! :D Don’t worry Jen I’m sure it’ll all be worth it in the end, they don’t say you put your “sweat and blood” into things for nothing :)

  9. Sara says:

    Oh, how exciting, Jen! x3
I am envious of how your bathroom sounds. Blah. lol.

Personally, for as easy as hardwood floors are to clean and maintain, I like carpet better. My house has real wood for the hardwood tiling and it’s always so cold in the morning, even through my socks! D:
But like, right now when it’s so hot, our house stays cool. so it’s a blessing to walk on relaly cold wood floors instead of carpet that warms up after a while despite how cool it is in the house.

Plus it keeps fleas under control because then they can’t hide in the carpet and get on the dogs after the dogs have been outside.

o: I would if it would be cheaper to go through the builders rather than an individual company…hmmm?

ahhh IM SO JEALOUS! Lucky you to be in that stage where you actually have a house to move into. Sadly, I still havent found a house yet. Everything just feels like such a journey, it’s like nothing but disappointment for me! I never knew how hard it was trying to find a place. Well I’m very excited for you! good luck on all the decision making!

Omg, wow, that is a lot of choices to pick from. But it’s always fun to design a house! That’s why I love The Sims so much.

I’m so envious that you get to do all this choosing and planning for your house. It sounds exciting and so grown-up to do, lol. =)
Hope to reach that stage within the next few years too for myself.
