Rinka’s Barefoot Dreams Parka~~

Mike found a US site that was selling it! It’s called What She Buys. I like how they even explain who Rinka is, hahahaaa :kissyheart:

:sqnewyears: Onto “my boom”~~ :celebrate:
Boom, meaning what’s popular right now; but on a more personal level it means what YOU’RE obsessed with at the moment. It’s hard to miss “BOOM” sections in any magazine these days. I figured I’d do a little コーデ (code short for coordinate or コーディネート!) boom post. I’ve been doing a bit of online browsing looking into buying a few things from Japanese stores. It goes hand-in-hand with my resolution for 2010.

:sqnewyears:

My resolution
I have been thinking about it since the summer really. Having to buy new clothes that fit me better and all too. I’m a bargain hunter, through & through. I’ve bought lots of things I only sorta liked only because it was on sale. I feel I wasted a lot of money on buying clothes that were a bit like what I REALLY wanted. Often times it ended with me having a bunch of tops and bottoms I rarely wore. Why? Because they weren’t EXACTLY what I wanted in the 1st place! What is it I really want???? JAPANESE BRAND CLOTHES OF COURSE!

I never bought any using a shopping service because it seemed terribly expensive. But then I realized just HOW much I was spending every weekend on clothes I only sorta liked because it would “remind” me of something I had seen in Vivi, Pinky, or Popteen. Honestly I think it’s gonna even out, if not even be cheaper in the end! Because the second thing I want…. less clothes. I know that might sound crazy, but a part of me sort of misses the college days when I was so limited. It made it easier, swear to god! And not only that, I have these random things in my closet that don’t match with anything else! Ugh, frustrating!

And then I see models who’s style I admire (Nana is my BOOM at the moment, LOL, followed by Jun Komori) and they don’t really have this over-flowing closet either. They’ll wear the same pieces in different ways over and over. Sorta like those 14 days coordinate spreads, haahaa! But really. :toto: I’d rather have 5 amazing coordinates I adore rather than 50 pieces of clothing I only sorta liked and can make a few nice coordinates from. :smallcry:

OK, onto my fashion boom!

ジェニイのブーム

Super Distressed!
Heavily distressed jeans, shorts, skirts, everything!!!!!!!!! I love it all! Natural blue jean, bleach jean, black jean! It all looks great distressed! LOL :ureshii:

Colorful Overalls!
Overalls [オーバーオール] Salopette [サロペット] or whatever you like to call it are easy, ready-to-go full outfits if you ask me! Jean or corduroy! Both are nice! I’m really into the pinks and mokomoko [モコモコ] styles of this winter mostly. :rose2:

This pair of mokomoko overalls I REALLY, REALLY want! But so does everyone else because it’s sold out on various websites! :F No wonder either, it was on the cover of the December issue of Popteen. It’s from WC!

This pink, striped, AND distressed pair of overalls from Rose Fan Fan is perfection too! Also sold out *meh*

Do you like this Cocolulu pair? I hope so because I submitted an order for it! It measured up to what should be a good fit on me and I like the worn coloring on the knees. It’s corduroy too so should be warm! It’ll take a while to arrive I’m sure but that’s OK. So begins my adventure into shopping services! :excitedyo:

I wanted to add more booms! Like my obsession with the brand WC, but that’ll have to wait for another day~

I was hoping to be packed tonight, but fail. I’ll have to do it tomorrow night, no choice! I’m still finishing up my laundry. Thankfully I had yesterday off work due to the snow so I was able to clean up the house. :ohyeslovely:

Ohh~ I love your mokomoko parka!!! Like mashmallows~ So sweet! You must be very happy you got a gift that suits your taste! And more over, Rinka style!!! You do look like Rinka in some of your photos.

I have limited clothes but I don’t have the creativity on how to wear them in different coordination. That’s why I will go gaga over all those 14 days coordination spread / 30 days coordination spread. So creative they manage to wear all the clothes over and over again and so nice! *love*

I made myself a pair of distressed jeans some years ago when I read Ranzuki.
Everybody was laughing at me to wearing a torn jeans and look like a construction worker. *cries*
Glad to have this trend back again! Now I find myself a reason to be happy with my pair of distressed jeans. LOL!

    • jenny says:

Yea, a big part of what I want to do is buy an outfit at a time and not just pieces. Because I’d hate to be limited and still not be able to match things. That’s how college was for me, I was limited AND a bit boring.

Distressed looks always cycle back around, it’s funny!

  2. Lexxii says:

Oh I need to distress some jeans. I just don’t know which ones I have the guts to cut… aha I don’t like the mokomoko overalls, but I do like the distressed ones and the cocolulu ones.

I love the Rinka stuff but it is soo expensive. Omg why designers why?!

  3. Honeydew says:

OMG I SO KNOW YOU FEEL! I’m the same as well. I’ve been buying items where it was only close to or a bit like what I want to get and then I end up not liking them anymore because they’re just not the ACTUAL thing I want! It is frustrating. I think the problem with me is that I look into Japanese magazines way too much and use them as my “shopping guide”. But in reality it is hard to find these items outside of Japan. I’m such a perfectionist sometimes that I always want my outfits to look PERFECT! I’d go out of my way to find all those pieces I want to coordinate it. Sadly though, most of the time I don’t end up finding them so that is why I actually tend to buy stuff less often. I’m always out window shopping but never coming home with anything. :(

And I can relate to you about ordering clothes online. I just recently got hooked on to ordering from YesStyle because they have things that I want and can’t find here. I mean it is just totally not worth it shopping and wasting my money when I can’t even find the things I want to buy here. I might as well use that money to spend on better items that will make me happy!

I really like that rose fan fan salopette! IT’S SO CUTE. I remember wanting to get a salopette last summer but I was still not comfortable with ordering from YesStyle and I regret not getting one now. I was hoping to get a winter one from YesStyle this year but they don’t seem to have any up. :(

If you know of any website that carry salopettes, please do share them!

Also, I’ve recently purchased something from this Japanese clothing site.

    http://www.nissen.co.jp/

They have a lot of fashion items that I see in the jmagazines too. They have a lot of “Mickey Mouse” sweaters and t-shirts too but the small sizes are out of stock. Their clothing is pretty decent priced though. I got this fur knit long cardigan for only $35 and they only charged me $5 for shipping in total, which is really surprising!! I used tenso with them and they just got my packages. My shipping cost for tenso came out to be about $60 though. I’m currently waiting for tenso to ship me the items. I’ll let you know how their shipping service is once I get my packages! :)

Btw, if you know of any Japanese sites that sell Mickey Mouse t-shirts and sweaters, please do post about them too! They are great for layering but are so hard to find here. I can only find Micky Mouse print tops here in H&M once in awhile.

  4. Honeydew says:

Sorry about the super long comment. I just had way too much to say for this post because it really speaks out everything I’ve been having frustration with too. If only we lived in Japan than we won’t have to deal with this frustration and expensive shipping! XD

  5. Mandy says:

I love WC brand and the furry cozy overall ^^ sigh i don’t know where to get it…sigh sigh~~~

  6. michelle says:

    Ack, we have the same problem, except I ALSO buy through shopping services for elegant gothic lolita which is outrageously expensive X____X I’m cutting down on clothing shopping, even though my tastes have been changing! It’s so hard, they make new stuff all they time and of course we will want it! I loove love love those distressed shorts! I want the third pair in the group image ;____;

    • jenny says:

It is hard! It’s hard to stay focused too when browsing the shops. Suddenly I’ll just be wanting random items that may not go together, haahaa. Deviating off course!

  7. Lissy says:

I just visited the ‘what she buys’ site and how cool Oprah likes Rinka too!

  8. Sara Mari says:

Wow, that parka is just so cute and soft looking, it totally suits you! I bet it’s nice and warm too.

I like your taste in clothing and Japanese brand. I also am into the distressed jeans, I think it adds some more interest to an otherwise regular article of clothing^^

Which language does Salopette come from anyway? I have often wondered about that haha. I love the overalls trend as well, but I don’t think they suit my body at all haha!

    • jenny says:

      It’s french actually :)
Really? I think you’d look cute in the right pair. Same here though, the ones that come down low in front aren’t so great looking on me! (Got too much junk in front for THAT style!)

  9. Miah says:

    omg yelow overalls!!! DAI-SUKI!!! :D
love the square distressed jeans too!!
(lol colourful distressed jeans…someone must be happy?)

    and that is so true!!
i do the same thing- buy clothes that are like the ones i want.
and now i have no space in my iddy-biddy closet :(
im supposed to clean that out and donate some clothes anyway…
but im gunna try that too!- since i havent really been buying anything recently (thanks COLLEGE!!)
and i want Japanese brands too!!
at least you can come close to affording them. just thinking about buying something from yesstyle makes my wallet cry and account feel smaller
(well not so much my wallet since it was stolen last week- Guess wallet too :’()

  10. Leslie says:

The first picture of the distressed jeans in nearly uniform squares is pretty interesting o_o My situation is quite the opposite from yours, somewhat, because I don’t buy a lot, but I rarely wear some of my clothing items for the same reason. I’d really like to purchase some Asian brand clothes as well; they’re my ideal fashion!

  11. Reita says:

    That parka is cute :)

I love those fluffly overalls! I have a coat like that and it’s so nice and soft haha.

Good luck with your clothing resolution :D I usually keep a list of items I want in mind when I go clothing shopping and try not to overbuy lol.

  12. Caitlin says:

It is amazing how WC is becoming so popular now, and so quickly. Seems like it only popped up on the model blogs and magazines less than a couple months ago. It is cool that I got the WC freebie pencil case from Scawaii with the poop and pee logo on it, lol! I learned from Universal Doll’s blog that Chinatsu Wakatsuki created the brand and made the funny poop and pee design because her initials are WC the same as Water Closet in England. I thought that was really funny. You can read the post here http://universaldoll.blogspot.com/2009/12/travel-home-w3c-love.html

That is a good resolution to have, less clothes and from brand so you know that it is really what you want and good quality. I had the same problem with buying from Japan for Lolita because I would just buy the offbrand clothes that copied the brands I wanted but it didn’t satisfy my desire for the real thing because it wasn’t anywhere near as good or special. I may have bulked up my closet and been able to make coordinates but I wasn’t happy and felt cheap with what I was wearing. It may be a little more money and you might have to pay for fees and shipping but the end result is far more worth it and special. I hope that this works out for you and that 2010 is a good year for all of us! xoxo

  13. Tori says:

LOVE LOVE the Barefoot Dreams hoodie~!
& I absolutely loved this post too! I admire your determination to buy less clothes this year & just spend on things you really want ;) I’m sure you can do it! :Dyy
& I must say I am also obsessed with the super-distressed denim & WC brand… I wish I could buy even just a tee shirt but everywhere I’ve looked is sold out :(
I’m loving that salopette you picked out~ I’m sure it will look fabulous on you!
& I hope you have a wonderful trip & holiday if I don’t get to wish you one before you leave! *hug*

    • jenny says:

I know!! I wanted the raglan I*heart*SF shirt in ANY COLOR but no luck, sold outtttt!

Baring anymore unforeseen blackberry outages *rawr!* I’ll be around! Blogging & tweeting. Though I’ve yet to get it to work on commenting on ameblo blogs, maybe I’ll figure that out too, LOL

  14. Veronica says:

Yay! You can do it! Ganbareeee :)

It’s hard at first, but as long as you don’t spend a single penny on something you less than LOOOOVE – you’ll save TONS!

Have a great holiday! I love roadtripping with Andy!! :D

    • jenny says:

Thanks! Yes! I used to shop like that too. I’d never buy anything right away. Instead I’d walk away and if a week later I was still thinking about it I’d go back & buy it!

  15. That parka looks so comfy too!

  16. Nicole says:

I used shopping services SO MUCH last year that I realized it would have actually been cheaper for me to fly to Japan and buy the stuff myself. XD However, my busy schedule prevented that from happening~ This year, though! :D

  17. Rachelle says:

I definitely love the jumpers! I don’t mind distressed jeans but I only like when they are slightly distressed. But paired with tights~ they look great! I love the boom post, I hope to see more!

  18. Miah says:

are there any japanese fashion websites that you recommend?

  19. Linda says:

    more long posts please!!! :)
i love reading your blog, it’s always filled with interesting posts about fashion, food, and even diets!
& your rinka parka looks so cute&warm&comfy~

  20. Niko-kuma says:

Those overalls with Momoko-san are so adorable! I absolutely love her Lolita-esque hairdo as well!
I’ve been hunting for some overalls for about 3 months now, so when I went to go buy some, customer service directed me to the little toddler boys section asking me how many months I was due (I had on a huge huge hoodie and the pockets gave me a preggo belly). NANI!!?? :3

Anyways, thanks Jenny for sharing your wonderful life! Now I know colorful overalls are just as cute as regular denim!

    • jenny says:

Haahaa, oh lord! Yes! Overalls are definitely NOT in fashion in the States yet (I assume you meant the States, pardon any ignorance.) A lot of designers chose to have some overalls in their summer collections so look for an overalls BOOM (heehee) this spring summer in the US. Just like leggings! Leggings used to be SO hard to find despite Japan having them popular for years!

  21. Megan says:

When I read the title, it made me think of my boss’s ring tone… “BOOM here comes the BOOM, ready or not” by P.O.D. LOL :P

I’m surprised to see that overalls are in. I remember growing up they were NEVER in, and if you wore them, you got made fun of hardcore. This is what I get for living in the midwest though… :\ Fashion is so behind here!

I really do love the extreme distressed jeans look. Ever since you brought up a week ago give or take, I’ve wanted some :D Especially the idea of mixing them with beautiful leggings!

Wish I could say I knew how you feel about having too many clothes. I hope your resolution goes well though ^_^

    • jenny says:

Yea, there’s gonna be a bigger trend of them in the US starting this summer since a lot of big designers included them in their spring/summer & resort collections. Ralph Lauren even has a distressed pair of jean overalls coming out! YAY!

  22. What you said about wasting money on clothes that are not reaaaally what you want… SO TRUE. My wardrobe is bursting and it’s so hard to combine all the stuff I have…… We are a bit alike in that, haha xD.
I should change my shopping behaviour too…

  23. Syd Syd says:

    I really wish the US had some Japanese brand clothing stores. It really is frustrating wasting money on something that looks like what I’ve seen in a Japanese magazine, but it doesn’t completely look like it. -_-;
I’m really not experienced with buying things online, either. Really sucks. :(

Maybe one day Japanese brands will become well-known over here, we can only dream~

+ those mokomoko overalls look like a dream! I WANT SOME TOO! ^_^

  24. Jenny, your parka looks absolutely adorable! What a fab X’mas gift! *^_^* I am totally with you on the clothes thing. Better to wait/save up than buy stuff that kinda looks like what you want. It’s a toughie for Japanese clothes but thank gawd there are online stores!

    Happy Holidays, sweetie!

  25. oct says:

    cuteness galore!

here’s wishing you a happy Christmas! happy holidays.

  26. emma says:

    woww
    mike is so thoughtful !!!
    luckyyy you !!

  27. Bianca says:

You inspired me Jenny! No more cheap or quick buys! I’m with you 100% on this one, I cannot wait to get started on my new closet, I hope yours works out great as well, don’t forget to have staples! :D

  28. Elle says:

ahhh yes mokomoko is very popular here! as the jgirls informed me. soooo many cute girls and styles. and the shopping is so cheap! its unforch that the prices to buy japanese stuffs in america is so expensive…im tryna stock up on all sorts of stuff (makeup, shampoo, clothes, food) but its hard because luggage bags can only hold so much. i never wanna leaaaave!!! and you pretty much hit the target with your clothing choices. =) =)

  29. Ys says:

I think it’s a great idea, sounds to me like you’ll probably end up spending less. I love a bargain too – I bought my entire wedding on sale hahaha!! – but I don’t usually get stuff just cos it’s on sale; I’m just super lucky and can always find a sale hehe.

Good luck with your new years resolution – it’s nice to hear a different type of resolution to the usual boring ones ;)

  30. Kettu says:

gosh the momoko overalls are so adorable!!!
    I think I am hooked now~!!!

I also always really wanted to buy stuff on the internet from japan and instead bying stuff SIMILAR but not the same. So as to solve the problem , I ended up enrolli ng for tailoring school instead, in the hopes of making it all myself.. wish me luck ~!! thats my new years resolution, to make japanese inspired fashion myself.

Ps. Its also so easy to travel if you have few, but well cordinated clothes ;)
