Revisiting an Old HMART

Saturday February 26, 2011

I’m blogging because I noticed I haven’t been blogging on the weekends anymore. :?: Funnily enough the weekends used to be the time I blogged the most! :P

I stayed busy today. :ok: Mostly got out to get out. :deco8: Stopped off at Hanahreum and a few other places. We took a newly open toll road just to see how much faster the drive would be to this other area. lolol It’s free for only this week. :deco13: We hadn’t been to that area in SO LONG and that H-Mart! Omg. I remember when I moved up here 5 years ago and trekking out there when all I did was hunt down international markets. Coming from Mississippi anything was better than what we had there. Next to NOTHING. :;_;: This particular store used to carry SO MUCH STATIONERY I loved going there. :deco15: But I haven’t been in about 5 years. Since then I stopped collecting stationery and other stores like Lotte opened down the road from me for all my curry, tea, etc needs. :P I half thought it would be closed. :x But nope. Still open. No stationery goods anymore though. :!?: Nothing really interesting but fun to sorta reminisce. ^_^

I stopped by this “make your own” salad place at the food court~~ ^_^ There was, of course, NO LINE for this healthy option. :?: Ah, they had so many add-ins!! And the salad you get is huge! And everything tasted really fresh, surprisingly! I got mixed greens, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, carrots and onions.

Oh yeah, iPhone4’s front camera is a much lower quality since it’s only a VGA camera. I think probably iPhone5’s front camera will be as good as the main camera, :!?: :!?:  haahaa~ Kinda like the grainy look, like TOY CAMERA STYLE hahaaa :suki:

  2. Diana says:

Awww, that’s sad that they took out the stationary! They still have it over here at the Ellicott City H-mart. But it’s smaller than it used to be. :’(

I’ve been therererere!!!!! About 5 years ago too. You guys had a huuuuge cute stuff section. Reminded me of that store in Georgetown Shops with all the stationery and trinkets xD

      • Diana says:

Really? They moved the section and they don’t have have as much cute stuff as they used to. I asked why and they told me that the sales are low so they had to take out alot of stuff. :(

Oooo, they have a store in Georgetown like that? O_O I’m not very familiar with that area.

        • jenny says:

Ah yeah. Sadly I figured that was the reason t_t. I can’t remember the name of the store at The Shops at Georgetown. I wonder if it’s still open. I think it was last time I was there. It has toys, stationery, photo albums, cell phone charms, etc.

  7. Tori says:

Awe~ I so envy you for being able to blog on the weekends… I miss blogging PERIOD, haha XD
    You’re lucky you have a Japanese market~ the Asian market near me is so limited, not a lot aside from the rare Japanese sweet or other food item ;o;

    • jenny says:

Haahaa just 1 weekend a month it seems, lately I just have been blogging on weekdays from my phone but on weekends I just don’t think about it. I thought it was funny I hadn’t blogged on a weekend since the 5th!

  8. susy says:

what on earth is hmart!? i’ve never heard of it before O___O
it looks like an asian style supermarket?? we have ones here called ‘jusco’ and lots and lots of random ones haha
hoe come you recently post less on weekends? :( wouldnt the ideal time be during weekends because you’d have more time to blog?

    • jenny says:

Yea it’s a Korean supermarket with other international products. I used to ONLY blog on weekends because it was my only free time. Now I’m usually too busy to blog on weekends but I hadn’t noticed the change.

  9. Vermillion says:

Your hairstyle and outfit look so cute ^^

  10. June says:

Just wanted to say your hair is sooo cute! I was thinking about bangs like that, but my face is too round T^T

  11. Nami says:

Oh, those kind of stores somehow are always really out of my way, but when I go there I just stock up big time haha.
I LOVELOVELOVELOVE what you are wearing in the last picture by the way (and darn that salad looks delicious). I saw something like that from a brand I adore from Japan but gah no way to get it. It’s adorable~

  12. cin says:

I love your top!! I’ve been wanting a dress that style ever since it came out in Japan~~ Where did you get it from? :D

  13. Charlene says:

I see the bag of miso soup packets ~! I have like….3 bags of those. I keep one in my locker at work. Lol Ugh, if only someone would get smart and bring some decent stores down here. There are SO many phillipino’s here because of the base and a scraggly population of chinese and korean, but only have this TINY market, that doesn’t even compare to that little market near your place!

We need a Trader Joe’s and a ….mini Grand Mart here haha.

  14. Rubi says:

yeah the front camera of the ipod is also like that :P
I was wondering if you use any face masks? I just bought an aloe one i really love, have you tried any that you really like?

    • jenny says:

There are 2 brands I like THE MOST and that’s Bihada Ichizoku brand and My Beauty Diary brand! I actually just used a Bulgarian White Rose Mask from My Beauty Diary and it was great as always from that brand~~ I have to be careful with masks since many will break me out but those two brands don’t.

  15. Magie says:

I’ve been following your blog for almost a year, now, and I have to say – I love it. Your entries about fashion inspire me to keep trying to be better as a Gal, and the ones about DC make me smile and feel nostalgic. Through your blog, I have come to slowly discovering my own personal style.

I do have one question, though… How do you go about taking a sweat bath? I’ve googled it many times and read through older entries of yours, but neither really explain what one is/does… :/

By the way, I’m loving that dress. I’m currently going through a major polka dot/british flag print phase. Hehe~

This entry might help a little:

      http://sushi-cat.net/2010/06/20/%E5%8D%8A%E8%BA%AB%E6%B5%B4-suggestions/

Basically you run hot water and then add in a bath salt that usually has germanium or chili pepper ingredients that are meant to make your skin feel heated up. You can use epsom salt and baking soda (though I’ve never mixed in baking soda but I have used pure epsom salt, both can be found in any grocery store actually) instead but the effect isn’t as great.

Basically hot baths make your body work a little harder than lukewarm baths in order to regulate your temperature. But mostly you’re just trying to sweat out water weight but it’s important to hydrate with a cool beverage during them too~

    I love the lace collar~~~~
and i always try to start with a salad less calories that way i tried to xplain that to ppl b4 and they were like (y would u eat b4 u eat? wouldnt you eat more…) nvm….ugh…i have never been to hmart even though I live by two…idk y….

  17. Courtney says:

Oh I love HMart! Sometimes it’s just fun to look at different stuff, right? Plus I eat a lot of Asian foods, so I head there often! OH GOD that sounds so good! It’s been so long since I visited a salad bar! I used to love tofu and sunflower seeds with thousand island! *nostalgia*
