Hmm, I would have told them about how you were feeling uncomfortable…I mean, that is REALLLLLY creepy. I wouldn’t want a pretty ring like that on any hand but my own, I wouldn’t let the thing out of my sight for any reason! Hmm, that’s pretty weird of your dad, has he always been like that? First of all, I absolutely adore this new layout!

Then of course… my cousin had a bunch of issues on picking a day for her wedding due to Buddhist superstitions and what day was a “lucky day.” Considering you are paying for the wedding yourselves, it really should be only up to you guys on what day you do it and in what season. I’m not sure if you’re planning on having a destination wedding, but I’m going to go ahead and assume that a lot of people will have to travel due to your Southern roots and current location in MD. Maybe your parents could pay for a little part like the rehearsal dinner or something.

I’m sorry, that your dad is not paying…. You’re not alone. If I’m going to marry somewhere in the future (within the next 10 years ) be sure that we’ll be paying it ourselves without help from our parents….

Your dad sounds a lot like my grandfather. He has money, but would never spend it on anyone but himself. He used to make his children buy all their own clothes in high school. When they graduated from high school, they got a key and had to start paying rent. When he found out that my mom had started to save up and begain to buy “apartment” things to prepare to move into an apartment, he kicked her out. He would use “his money” to buy expensive clothes, a motorcycle, etc for himself. my grandparents eventually divorced after he gave my grandmother a STD, but they got remarried after 8 years… wtf is wrong with her??? but I digress. hopefully he is not that bad!! (but it really does suck :( :( )

at least, when you pay for it you can have everything exactly how you want it. ignore Mike’s mom, unless she wants to help out! let him sweat it out, then do what you want in the end
