Reading Glasses

Sunday, February 24th, 2008 | 28 Comments

At 1:00 I have my 3rd follow-up at the eye doctor. After spending this past week testing my sight with a new prescription, toric lenses, old prescription and other variations… I’ve decided just getting reading glasses (to wear with my old contact prescription) would be the best choice. I just have issues with my astigmatism bothering me when I’m on the computer at work. So this is the best choice since the toric contacts were impossibly uncomfortable and the new prescription strength gave me headaches. I’ll only need to use them when on the computer \/ so I wanted to get some fun frames. Especially since these lenses will be way cheaper than my full prescription lenses. Also I won’t be “stuck” in them all day, like my actual glasses, so I want something bright and trendy.

These are my current glasses (full prescription.) I like them a lot. Great frame for constant wear…

Ideas for new reading glasses.
I’ll wear with my daily contacts and only use when on the computer and such~

Those are beautiful frames. We could only dream of carrying those where I used to work. I also think that’s a good idea if you want to mainly wear contacts. That’s the opposite of me though, I love glasses and don’t like contacts.

I love the idea of colorful frames. The pink D&G frames are awesome. Or the red Vogue ones, or the purples.. so many fun choices ^__^

I really like the pink (3) and the white (1) one. Thicker frames are nicer IMO.

Waa - I too am looking for a spiffy new pair of frames (I’ve got to take advantage of my Health Care benefits before I loose my “student” status ;p) Hahhaa - I love the D & G selection! I’m a big fan, but I’ve been delving into the “Levis” collection lately (whoo limited edition!)

:3

Have fun with the glasses choosing! I love just wandering about and picking up the most colourful pair

I love the 3rd frames! D&G frames are so pretty but they don’t suit me :( Contacts can be so annoying! So yay for new frames!

Woahh that’s a smart solution *tee-hee* I love that you want some funky glasses! I only have backup glasses with my normal prescription they are pretty ‘normal’ h. Goodluck with picking out a new frame, sometimes it can be hard to find that perfect one - but I’m sure you will find one you like! xoxo

i love the second pair! the red ones - so pretty.

i’ve just been glasses-shopping with my sister. we were there for ages picking them but it was quite fun. she says she has to take me cos i’m the only one who’ll say which frames suit her face

i’m going for my test in a couple of weeks. i should be okay but i might need glasses for reading cos i have one bordering-on-bad eye. i wanted funky reading glasses - they have such beautiful frames out at the moment, don’t they?

Wow, really like the Dolce and Gabbana? Anyway, I like the red ones you have in the middle there… I think the pink ones are too 1960’s-cat-eye-ish.

I used to wear glasses full-time, and they looked exactly like the ones you have right now. Right now, I’m using toric lenses but only when I go out and at home (or for more casual/mundane events) I have a pair of really funky red thick-framed glasses. Red works really well especially if you have brown hair.

So if you’re just wearing reading glasses does that mean you’re also wearing contacts on top of that or not? I’d like to do that but my astigmatism is so bad, toric lenses are the only ones that will fit me…

Yes Timmie, I’ll be wearing these reading glasses on top of my daily wear contacts! The toric lenses weren’t turning out to be a good solution for me and since my astigmatism only bothers me when reading/on the computer the doctor said this would be a fine solution.
