Hair Stuff

Monday May 11, 2009

Here are the latest curling tutorials from Vivi! They’re on their limited color pages. These muted pages are Vivi’s equivalents to the typical black & white pages in other fashion magazines. The pages aren’t glossy, they’re more matte so the scanning looks low quality but really it’s just the actual page’s quality.

These a the products I typically use~~

Aussie’s Volume Shampoo and Tsubaki Golden Repair Conditioner
right: Body wash 温泉仕立て

Styling Products!

No, I don’t use THIS MANY products DAILY!
Typically only 1 or 2 at a time, it depends on the style I want!

Just bought the stuff on the right this weekend.
For mending “damaged hair.”
3-minute miracle and a Leave in Conditioner :*:

Nothing that interesting. Earlier I really thought it as only Saturday! Quite depressing to realize tomorrow’s Monday. I dunno~ I did a lot and got many things done this weekend but I still have that feeling of wasting it! :facepalmcry: I blame my new phone, hahahahaa. These phones, it’s like getting a new computer now! So many flippin’ setting and apps and customizing!!! Really sucks you in. :dizzy:

My wallpaper. At first I had our purikura, but then I realized I couldn’t see a damn thing so switched it to cher! Hahahah I also picked up a sleeve and screen covers. Plus a 4gb SD card for a great price! ($14.00! Not too shabby) :biglove:

How long does it take to do your hair? I never curl it anymore cause I never have the extra time (I lovessss sleep), but my stressful exams are almost over and I’m feeling dress-uppy. :)

    • Jenny says:

Well without the blowing drying it takes about 10mins to curl and be 100% done. My hair isn’t too thick so most of that time goes into teasing for volume! Hahaha Blow drying can tack on another 10mins though~

  2. toritori says:

The hair tutorials are lovely! :)
And jeez, even your hair products are as cute as you! xD
Your smart phone looks cutecute too, dear.
    Good choice, in the end!!
    *_*

  3. Caitlin says:

Wow, blackberry jealousy! I hope that the email and stuff is easier than you thought it would be. Really cute Cher background!

  4. emm says:

i kind of really want a blackberry but y’know i dont even use my current cell phone
but i agree; cell phone/s ipods are mini computers and have too many functions!
my ipod froze twice on me and i got so paranoid!!! but i think it’s ok, when my nano first froze on me i totally died but it was ok and it’s still working after so many years!

  5. diana says:

aside from your funny musings about life, your style posts are my favorite :) i just love your personal fashion sense! btw, love the fact that you use the tresemme spray. i have the same one, and when i’m finished with it, i like to fill it back up with water and spray it around the house. it smells so good xD

  6. Megan says:

What are the Lucido-L products % the “Liese” product?

    I generally always feel like there’s more I could’ve done in a weekend~ I hate feeling unproductive!

The blackberry is super cute! ^_^ ♥

    • Megan says:

supposed to be an “&” sign not percent sign ;( Fail

    • Jenny says:

The Lucido-L bottle is a pre-curl spray. So is the Liese bottle. You spray it on then curl your hair and it holds in place. The 2 tiny pots are hair wax for long, flowy curled styles.

      • Megan says:

Oh cool, I looked the Lucido-L products up online and they aren’t expensive at all! I’ve been looking into something to make my curls hold better, tyvm!! :)

  7. mishisan says:

Ah I use the liese one ^^ I like the smell of it *hides*

and Mondays are always depressing =( can agree to that.

  8. Lissy says:

Yay! its so awesome when you review products you like :D

  9. Zoraida says:

OMG THANK YOU FOR THE CURLING TUTORIALS! I CAN’T WAIT TO TRY THEM~

The leave-in conditioner works so good~ it doesn’t leave your hair greasy!

    • Jenny says:

Yea I’m using it for the first time today! I tried a few different products in the past and at the store~ this one seem to keep my hair from loosing all bounce!

  10. Sumie says:

is that lucido-l and tsubaki conditioner any good in comparison to similiar products you can get in a typical drugstore?
or is it rather meaningless to buy it only bcs it’s japanese?
that bottle with the girl looks cute^^reminds me of the “beauteen” girls :D…

    • Jenny says:

The Japanese products I buy, I buy because they’re better than any US equivalent I’ve tried. Tsubaki (original Red) conditioner is extremely worth it. This is the first time I bought the Golden Repair version and I’m a bit disappointed. However, I have a drugstore shampoo because I found that only the Tsubaki conditioner is needed. I tried using both shampoo & conditioner and it made little difference. But I like the Aussie volume shampoo lines a lot.

The same goes for the styling products. I’ve yet to find anything remotely as good as the Lucido-L pre-curl spray. I bought the Liese one while in Japan and it works good too, but not as good as the Lucido (on my hair at least.) But the rest is all American~ the Jonathan hairspray is more $ than all the other styling products combined and it’s the one I’d recommend the most :P

      The body wash is one of the only ones I can use that doesn’t break me out. ;_;

The Lucido-L designing pots are OK. I bought them in Japan but I probably won’t repurchase them here in the states unless I cut my hair really short again. Because I used wax more when I had short hair. With long hair it weighs it down. Though this wax did have more hold for long locks than any US brand I’ve tried (And I’ve tried nearly everything b/c hair wax used to be my favorite product.) ;)

  11. Maki says:

thanks for sharing the mag scans ^^. just hope my hair is long enough to try them.

    btw. nice cher wallpaper

  12. Anonymous says:

Hehe new phones are just so much fun to play with :) I think I spent a good few days customising mine :)

The Aussie stuff is GREAT. I’m sure you’ll love it :)

  13. Midori says:

Ah I used to use that leave-in conditioner but didn’t find it particularly effective on my hair. Then again, I think I’ve mentioned before that I fit into that 5% of the asian population with CRAZY HAIR.

  14. Miamy says:

Ahhh I have that lucido hairstyling pot too!
I love the smell so much!

  15. Lisa says:

thank you for sharing the hair curling tutorials^^ your new phone looks cute with cher background~ heehee

  16. cris says:

    thanks for the tutorials :D
when you posted those of the hair ribbons i didn’t understand how to do it in my head @_@

sorry about my english, i’m brazilian~~

so, do you like lolita style? i’m really into it ♥
your hair kinda remembers me of the visual

    • Jenny says:

I like Lolita style but I would probably say I’m more of an admirer than “into it.” I’m more into shibuhara style personally :P

  17. Kim says:

I still need a sleeve for my Zune lol. I’ve had it for about a year and a half, and it has unfortunately suffered drops at UCLA D:

  18. Tori says:

Thank you for showing which products you use! I’m always trying new stuff on my hair… Lately I’ve stopped curling it because the hair spray I’ve been using holds it for like 5 mins & then it’s flat again :( Where do you buy your Japanese styling products though?

& your new phone looks like love! :)

    • jenny says:

There’s a Japanese market next to the Japanese bookstore that I go to. They have a little beauty & bath section :)

  19. Veronica says:

    Nice!

I wish I could find some good Japanese hair products, but my hair is so thick and wavy, I usually stick to Herbal Ess. *which is still yummy*

    Nice phone!!

  20. Honeydew says:

Your blog is always so fun to read, especially when you blog about the personal things that you use!

My shampoo and conditioner is running out and I’m thinking of getting a new set to replace yet. I’ve always heard Tsubaki is really good and wanted to try it out but it’s SO expensive! Did you actually get yours in Japan?

I’ve been debating whether to get the red version of the white golden repair, which one would you suggest?

    • jenny says:

I got most the Japanese stuff locally at a Japanese market. Yea when Tsubaki first came out it was like $22 at the store!! But now it’s only $14. I definitely recommend the original Tsubaki red line! I’m a bit disappointed with the Golden Repair line, the original red was better. I also tend to only get the conditioner. I’ve used the shampoo & conditioner together and didn’t notice a difference so it’s cheaper to just buy a drugstore shampoo.

      • Honeydew says:

Thanks! You’re so lucky that you can get them locally at the Japanese market!!!

I’m actually ordering mine online from ebay and it’s a bit pricey, around $30? But the set is 550ml of the shampoo and conditioner plus a treatment repair thing. Ah yeah~ That’s exactly what I was originally planning to do too…..either get the tsubaki shampoo or conditioner and just buy another drugstore brand to save money. XD But I guess I’ll try everything out first for the first time and save on my 2nd purchase if I like the product, haha.

  21. Lorik says:

I use Bumble&Bumble shampoo and conditioner and i love it! Then i use Bonacure Hair Therapy by Schwarzkopf if I want to blow dry my hair…but it smells good so I use it anyway hahaha~

    • Jenny says:

Looooooove Schwarzkopf!! Hard to find around here. But i remember it when i was in Germany and everything smells so sexy like a man! LOL

  22. Cecilia says:

    Awesome tutorials :D
You have many great product brands

  23. Sumoni says:

I really love your new phone! I need certain products in my hair or will turn into an afro. lol.

  24. Shirley says:

The Cher background looks super cute :]

  25. Akiko says:

I just stumbled upon your blog from jmagscans on livejournal and I absolutely adore it. Your site is super awesome and I really appreciate the magazine scans. THanks!

  26. Leanne says:

Oh my god! I love your phone, it looks so pretty *______* Also, you have so many different products! I’m dying to find some great damage control stuff for hair so let me know if those are any good!

  27. Winn says:

thanks for the scans! i like that bottom right one on the last page but i don’t think i’d ever suit that style! i didn’t know you need so much work to style your hair like in the 4th top one too :D i want to try it out~
i used to have some nice and light styling product but it’s all gone now :(

  28. cin says:

Aussie shampoo?? O_O I never seen it before.. XD
Thanks for the curl techniques! I think my hair is just not long enough and my curler is too thick so my hair won’t curl properly (just makes little flicks) :(
Love the phone! Purikura wallpaper is so cute!

  29. Aleida says:

Aww thanks for sharing :D Unfortunately my hair is the other way around. I have curls. When my hair is above my shoulders it’s waaaaay curlier. But when the lenght is right my curls are like the ones in the magazine without using a curl iron. But … I would love to get bangs / fringe … not sure what it’s called in English *le sigh* But I need a straightening iron to get it not so curly. Lol. But maybe … after seeing these pictures I should give it a try sometime. Again thanks for sharing :D

  30. Mich says:

hey jen have you checked out Rinka’s travel show that she co-hosts?
This one where she goes to Hawaii: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnqcQisG-OU&feature=channel_page

  31. Ann says:

Oooh tutorials! Thank you Jenny ♥ I suck at curling my hair, and my hair seems to hate curls. My hair does this weird anime stick out thing that I can’t seem to control…

Blackberry~! Mine arrives next week. Any suggestions for apps?

  32. Becca says:

SD cards are so cheap now, people who come in to buy them are always skeptical because they think I am lying to them about the prices >_>

so many products! which ones work well??

lovely background! wish I had a blackberry now :P

  33. Nana says:

jeez that phone looks pretty cool… i don’t know when my contract ends in august if I want to get a blackberry, iphone, or an HTC…

we used a lot of the same hair products ha ha.. i love the aussie products like that leave in conditioner.. they smell so good~~ i used to hairspray and it smells like grape he he…. Also that tresemme spray is so good !! I feel like it really keeps my hair from being damaged

  34. Erica says:

How is the Tsubaki shampoo/conditioner? I’ve always wanted to try it!

Thanks for the curling tutorials, I just bought a curling iron so these will come in handy!

  35. Kirin says:

Wow~ you’ve got many products from Japan! Do you get them in the U.S? I can see how much you love cher, Rinka, and kawaii fashion. Your life would be much more fun if you live in Tokyo. Are you planning to come work in Tokyo?

I was actually surprised to see so many people are interested in Japanese fasion. I’m Japanese but is it Mottainai (am I missing opportunity) if I do not dress myself cute? hahaha(^_^;) Actually if I were cute and slim like you, I’d be more into the latest fashion. :p

    • Jenny says:

Some I got while in Japan, others I can buy at a local Japanese market! I would love to work in Tokyo but I would like to become better at Japanese first before pursuing such a dream! :D

I think it’s OK if you don’t want to dress “cute.” I like casual or boy-style too for relaxing days! It’s all about what makes you happy :)

  36. emm says:

hey i was browsing the app store the other day and they had some kickass-looking purikura apps for like $3!!
    :D ?

    • Jenny says:

Oh snap! No matter WHO it is I suck at birthday-dates! LOOOOOL It’s coming up and I nearly forgot! THANKS! (the 21st so I gots some timmmme :P)

  37. Anna says:

I love looking and browsing through the pictures in all your entries! Even though they’re just pictures of regular shampoos and hair styling products, they all inspire me, and make me want to care more about looks! You inspire me!=3 keep it up jenny!

And ooooooooo! I looooooove your phone *_*!

  38. rene says:

Thanks for scanning the tutorials! I’ve yet to purchase my curling tong. But if I want to achieve curls like pic 4, how big the diameter should I get? Thanks!

  39. yumyumsushi says:

hi jenny! i thought this was the post when you talked about your new hair curler—but anyway…got one just to try out, i’ve never gotten one before because i didn’t know how to use one, but i figured, eh, i should get a cheap one & learn. so i got a revolon one very similar to your con air. & the other day i was sitting there trying to figure out how to use it…& I DON’T KNOW HOW. lol help..?
