Everlane Sweater and Other Updates

Nov 05, 2013

Hello. Last week I got in a new Everlane cashmere sweater and have been living in it since its arrival. I sized up for a super loose fit. It’s soft and warm and comforting. The color is a perfect burgundy shade that melded instantly into my closet of black, gray, and navy.

what I've been wearing most this weekI had a sephora coupon so I stocked up on my favorites

Here’s an Everlane Invitation link for anyone who wants to check them out. https://www.everlane.com/n/1nu2l6

I also finally ordered one of their $15 U-neck tees. So happy I did. I got it to wear with thick sweater coats and my leather jacket and the fit is more flattering than I could have hoped for. I think for me the U-neck is more flattering than their original ryan tees even. I might order another in black eventually.

This weekend was pretty great actually. I felt really productive. Around this time of year I tend to want a change and either cut or color my hair or both. But so far I’ve been more into rearranging the furniture and home decor of my house. Just room to room. Switching out lamps or moving a piece of furniture. I hadn’t done it in so long. And the small changes make coming home from work feel less routine.

I kept starting and stopping writing a new blog post all week. Nothing in particular stopping me. I would just feel really motivated but then some little thing would bum me out and I wouldn’t feel like finishing. I think that best describes my entire October. Full of ups and downs. Little joys followed by little bummers. I’m mostly feeling bummer’fied thanks to being sick or having a constant toothache. Being in physical discomfort has its way of wearing on you emotionally of course. Hopefully by the holidays I’ll be done with the toothache aspect.

Gosh, that same sweater is IN MY CART as I write this, haha. I was so excited when the cashmere came back! (:

I love that productive feeling. It’s very satisfying. Sorry to hear you’ve been feeling bummed!

    Hi!
I hope you get to feel better soon!

    and the sweater looks lovely.
Also I wish I’d have the will to reinvent spaces as you did.
Definitely small changes make wonders in our mood!
(Also I’d wish we’s have IKEA but not such luck :( )

Hope november gives you a renewed mood for holidays!

I’ve been wondering about the quality of the Everlane stuff. I want some of the silk shirts and you can never have too many basic tees.

The quality is really good. Their silk is thick and durable sorta like a silk work shirt in my opinion. It’s not wispy like jcrew or madewell silks usually are.

    Hi Jenny,
I love all of your posts but this one definitely resonated with me so I will comment to show my appreciation. This time of year has some of us needing serious change but also being able to feel comfortable in our own skin. It’s a balance that is wonderful when found. *hugs to you, always*

That sweater looks like the perfect color for autumn. I’m so tempted to purchase things from Everlane. I love how neat they look, not much details just enough for the clothes to look great.

You have a lovely home Jenny and you don’t seem to age? :)

I love these little glimpses at your simple and relaxing house, Jenny. Thanks for those.

I think November is the month of change for a lot of people. It’s probably because the weather is so dreary, the day is shorter and people (myself included) need a little pick me up.

Your home looks lovely! I’d love to see a few more little snaps of your home deco ;) Hope your feeling better soon~~!

Ah, Everlane! I’m crazy for the sweaters, but I can’t even think about spending, since I’m gonna travel soon :( love your living room picture!

  12. Kayla says:

Ooh I have never heard of Everlane! I’ve had a quick browse.. you may have just created a monster in me hahaa.
Your house looks so nice and clean and lovely. I’ve recently moved back in with my mum so my partner and I can save to buy our first home and I cannot WAIT to decorate it exactly how I want.
    Hope your toothache disappears!

It’s really amazing the difference between your first home & all the past places you’ve shared together. I used to always feel the need to fix or tweak stuff in our old apartments but when we got the house I was so so so pleased with everything we put into it that it’s mostly unchanged in the 5 years we’ve lived here. :)

    hi,
I’ve been contemplating the everlane cashmere v neck sweater and I’m usually between xs and s and i usually like to size up, but didn’t know if these sweaters would look too big. if i got a small, do you think it would have a good oversized look or too much? customer service says that each sizer is actually half a sizer bigger than usual, but I’ve heard otherwise… thanks!

    • jenny says:

I can only speak for the crew neck but they should be the same. I wear an xs but sized up to a small for a looser fit and ended up getting an M too for a casual fit and both look great but definite differences in fit look. If you want really fitted get the xs. The small will still look fitted but not body hugging. Honestly my M is my favorite now.

      • Sam says:

Thank you!! So for the crewneck, oversized is actually better? I’m also small chested so I’m worried it’s going to be big around my chest but I always buy my sweaters in small these days. Also how is the quality of the cashmere? Really soft?

        • jenny says:

Yeah I assume the v-neck fits the same I just don’t wear v-necks so I only bought crew. I think you’d fit into both sizes easily it just depends how fitted around the chest you want. I ordered 1 size up to a small and it fits somewhat loose in the bust and arms. http://sushi-cat.net/pics/4_2_13_2.jpg

But if you wanted a tighter fit like the everlane model here I’d get an xs – https://www.everlane.com/collections/womens-sweaters/products/womens-cashmere-charcoal

The cashmere is pretty soft and gets softer with wear. It wasn’t as soft as my cardigan (which costs twice as much) but it’s softer than JCrew’s cashmere if you’re familiar with that. If it helps I honestly wear these two sweaters weekly (daily sometimes!) When I first got my navy sweater I thought it would be softer but now I live in these sweaters. I’m not sure of Everlane’s return policy, I think it’s pretty forgiving. I don’t recall if they have restocking fees or not but should be in the FAQ.

          • Sam says:

            Thanks!!

          • Sam says:

hi! so i want to purchase the crew necks now and just wanted to clarify – m is your favorite? s seemed to fit perfectly oversizdd for me for the v neck cashmere sweater but I’ve read that the crewneck is a tighter fit so am thinking of going up to a medium but I also don’t own any mediums so I am hesitant. Thoughts?
