Cherry Blossoms
Monday April 13, 2015

Early Saturday morning I got out to view the cherry blossom trees on the National Mall. I went early because it gets very crowded and I still fear people bumping into my fractured arm. Plus it guarantees the parking spaces we like will be open! I couldn’t manage my usual Olympus Pen camera so instead I used my iPhone and this nifty RE Camera Mike got me as a gift in February. It’s extremely tiny so lightweight! And takes beautiful wide angle photos.
If you plan on visiting the blossoms this week is a peak time. I also suggest a few spots aside from the usual talked about Tidal Basin. The Tidal Basin is beautiful but it’s also very very crowded and the walking space around the basin itself is very narrow. My favorite spot is near the Washington Monument. Much less crowded and it offers beautiful views. I also highly recommend the trees near the Memorial to Japanese-American Patriotism near Union Station and the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial. It’s a wider open space with beautiful trees contrasting the memorials.

Awesome you were able to check out the cherry blossom trees :'( There was a special event here in The Netherlands by the Japanese Women’s Organisation (I think), but I was stuck at the office *sighs*
Even if you didn’t bring your Olympus PEN the shots are great *jealous* Hahah. That RE camera sounds interesting, thanks for adding the link. I’m gonna look into it.

Beautiful cherry blossom pictures! I’m waiting for the ones here in Toronto to bloom. I also want to take photos without the crowd. I might have to go really early in the morning as well as it gets soooo crowded on the weekend and late afternoon time. My biggest dream is goal is to see sakura in Japan someday

I love these pictures! Cherry blossoms are one of the best things about spring. Also I’m happy that you’re posting again and glad you’re feeling better :)
P.S. May I please use one of your photos for my wallpaper?
