Breaking Up with Ageha

Oh remember Nanako’s Hair Ribbons??!! Noticed this today in February’s Ageha :rose2:

I’d say “I can’t believe I missed this!” but Ageha’s thick, stiff spine has always made it a bit difficult to read in my opinion. Let alone freakin’ scan in! Which brings me to this… :F

This entry has been a long time coming. For a couple of months now I’ve known I wasn’t going to renew my Ageha subscription. Ageha has gotten extremely repetitive for me. It also feels they’re moving away from having an “Agejo” focus and going back to fully targeting their original audience, hostesses. That’s fine and makes sense of course. That was their main audience when I first got my subscription which I enjoyed to be honest. Then Agejo became this trend~ It feels like Agejo has been moving out of the limelight as people’s fascination with it starts to dims though.

It’s also coming from a personal preference. When I got my first issue back in 2007 I was obsessed with thick, long curls and heavy eye make! :lovelymake:*_*:curltime: But since this past spring my tastes have waned. I’m getting back into a more casual style and lighter eyemake. Besides, I never fully loved intense black bottom liner on me. Maybe it’s my big nose, :laughingheart: I dunno, I just never felt 100% happy with it on me. But I still like it on most models  :crap: But unlike some magazines (Popteen,) Ageha rarely has any alternatives to the pitch black full bottom liner.

An example~ :wakuwakuheart:

I think I have 1 or 2 more issues coming, then my subscription ends~

So I thought I’d do a tribute to their latest & most interesting hair arranges! :faceaha: :doubleheartbeat:

Yes, it is indeed a Christmas wreath hair arrange!

Here’s hoping I don’t regret ending my subscription~~~
But it feels the same when I ended Non-no. When I get the new issues I flipped through it so few times and am not that excited about it~ It’s a stupid thing to have so many feelings towards! HAHAHAHAAAA!

I didn’t realize I’ve had the subscription for over 2 years now OoO :ruru:

When I read this, I was like WHAAAAAAAAT?! 2007?! I remember reading your first entry on it, and right now feels like less than a year later.

I hate getting older. Time goes so fast! XD

    • jenny says:

Actually I got my first issue in 07 but the subscription didn’t kick in till ‘08. I should correct this. Nevertheless, yes time flies!!

  2. Hayley says:

That’s exactly how I felt when I dropped my non-no subscription! I have literally never looked back. Occasionally I thumb through an old issue but I only get a real nostalgia hit from the issues that are 10 years old.

    • jenny says:

Oh yes!! Definitely I’ll feel nostalgia about certain issues~ but yea. When it’s time for a change, it’s time.

  3. meg says:

where and how do you order your subscriptions? I want some :D

    • jenny says:

I get mine from a local Japanese bookstore here in DC, BUT I used to order from fujisan.com (It has both Japanese & English version on the site.) I’ve also ordered certain magazine issues from yesasia.com and royalquartz.com :)

  4. Cecilia says:

I honestly like Popteen so much better, Ageha.. the photoshopping is overkill in my opinion. But they do have neat stuff though!

  5. Sara Mari says:

I downloaded Ageha once, and it really wasn’t that interesting for me since I didn’t see ways to incorporate any of it into my style. But those crazy hair styles are indeed very interesting! hehe The wreath killed me! XD The giant ribbon was pretty cute however hehe

  6. Miah says:

thats good– i mean its part of your resolution no?
you wanted to save money and ending the subscription will do just that. and this way you won’t see anymore temping things–one less magazine! no more unecessary finds!
right?– if im not making sense i apologize, as i have not thought of what to say… (i just started typing… o_O )

    • jenny says:

No it’s a good point actually! Since I’ll be getting a subscription to PopSister when it begins in April it’s good I’m ending my current one to Ageha!

  8. Caitlin says:

Meh, it happens. We grow and change and our interests in things wane. Just think, the money could be better spent on something you are more interested in!

  9. emma says:

    wooow
how do they take the trains with hair like that
wont it take up most of the room?

    tsktsk ppl will get mad..

  10. Miamy says:

I really like the one with the heart shapes :)
pretty interesting hairstyles there although most of it seems like it’s really hard to make on my own. hahaha :D

  11. Cecilia ;) says:

    naw thanks darl :)
i guess i’ll try to stick in there and hopefully the travelling will somehow get better or something.
i love loose princess curls on long hair :)

    xo

  12. Deso says:

Honestly i’m not much of a fan for such out of the way hairstyles. But they do look quite fun hehe. And I saw your new haircut in an earlier post. I loooooove it!!! I cut my hair about the same length, but your’s just looks so perfectly stuled D:
It really sucks that i’m so lazy and won’t spend time on it. >.

  13. Betty says:

I feel the same about Ageha too! And I’ve only bought about 3 Ageha magazines. lol. I love their eye make-up but their hair is too crazy for me.

p.s. your nose is NOT big o.0

  14. Tori says:

Aweee~ it is sad when you find you’re disconnecting with something you’ve loved for so long. I feel the same way about ViVi. But I suppose everyone changes & the things you like change with you!
The Ageha hair is so insane but so pretty on those models! I could never EVER get away with styles like that, haha XD

  15. An says:

    OMGNESS that last hairstyle rocks.
Ha, I never really liked the ageha style at all xD
    for me, it’s too much of that hostess-thingey . . .

  16. Jeaneth says:

I liked Ageha for their clothes…Although I really don’t dress like that, I just like looking at it xD
Just don’t end your subscription to popteen!! lol
And those hairstyles…I don’t think i would even try it out for Halloween!! They’re too outrageous for me!

    • jenny says:

Won’t be ending Popteen any time soon. Yea the Ageha clothes/lifestyle was just so-so interesting to me in the beginning! Like bizarre-o fantasy life~

  17. Lexxii says:

Oh the last one with the giant braided bows makes me think on the whos from Dr. Seuss books :)

  18. Linda says:

yay! you get to save more money resulting in buying more clothes! XD

  19. kristie says:

wow those are some really interesting hair styles! i would never be able to pull it off lol. too bad your ending your subscription, maybe you’ll find a new magazine to interest you? i really want a subscription for Sweet & Maquia :)

    • jenny says:

Yea it’s OK. PopSister is going monthly this April so I’ll subscribed to that. I think my Ageha subscription lasts until April or May anyway :)

  20. Veronica says:

HOLY JESUS – those hair arrangements are hilaaaaarious! The gigantic heart braids cracked me up!

I’ve never read this magazine – sometimes just a little super sugary sparkle fashion goes a long way :D

    • jenny says:

Honestly in the 2 years I’ve been getting this magazine the wired heart braids are the craziest I’ve seen! Very moose-like :P

  21. Becky says:

Aw. Its hard breaking up with magazines that you use to love. When I had to end it with non-no it was hard but I found myself losing interest in it. I hope I don’t get tired of popteen or vivi, otherwise I don’t know what I would read!

    • jenny says:

Wow, everyone has broken up with non-no! LOL a bit sad. Yea it’s hard when your tastes change especially if you haven’t find a replacement magazine ya know!?

      • Becky says:

non-no just got really kinda … boring for me. i started to prefer more gyaru styles. maybe i matured? haha! but it seems like non-no is evolving too with it’s recent pinky-esque cover. who knows… one day i might make a 180 and go back to my roots :P

  22. Daniella says:

Breaking up is hard to do, lol. When I cancel a subscription, I always feel like I’m making a mistake. But you’re probably making the right decision.

Those hairstyles are crazy. But cool. I’ve kind of wanted a copy of that magazine for a while, it just seems so crazy, but I could see how it would get repetitive after a while.

  23. Reiko says:

I really feel amazed by how they do all those hairstyle O_O

Agejo is LOVE but yeah, I found that most of the contents are repeating again and again… Quite boring sometimes… You can always view the mags online. :)

  24. Ys says:

Oh wow those hair styles are MAD! :D
