Namco Namja Town

Namco Namja Town? What? Never heard of it? It’s only the most bad ass haunted house gyoza stadium dessert theme park EVERRRRRRRRRR!

OK, well maybe you have heard of it! Kudos for being awesome

It’s located at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro

Mike & I went there for lunch mostly plus dessert and the creepy kitty-themed haunted house. OK, actually some parts of this place DID scare me! There’s this one part where you go to look through a door peephole and as you do it slams something really loud & heavy against the door you’re leaning on and it’s scary as shit! Haahaa

My favorite part was the Gyoza Stadium and it’s why we went. There’s a bunch of food stales all selling different types of gyoza from all over Japan. It is nearly impossible to choose! And the whole time the stall owners are calling you over saying theirs is the best, try it try it!

The place has a really cool feel to it with lanterns every where. We got there right after opening and it soon filled up quickly! Especially the Gyoza Stadium portion of the park.

See the “Curry Mayo” one?! And there’s a bunch of stalls with “cheese” gyoza on the menu, haahaa

This was a large dining area outside of the gyoza stalls. Fairly dark since it’s directly connected to the haunted house portion of the theme park.

There was an event going on while we were there for cool summer gyoza. They even had a sorta fruits mitsumame type gyoza. I was thinking of getting it but got ice cream instead. Here’s the event info from the site. Though it’s ended now They always have events going though it seems~~

The other event going on was a Monster Hunter 3 collab event! OK, I don’t know if you’ve heard about Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airu Village but holy crap those kitties were EVERYWHERERERER! And they’re crazy adorable! Apparently they were a part of the Monster Hunter 2 game and were so popular they got a spin-off? I’m not 100% sure because I

  1. Haven’t ever played Monster Hunter
  2. Don’t even own a PSP

I’m hoping amongst hope that Capcom brings this game out to the US on the DS (*cough* yea, I don’t own a PSPPPPPP)

Anyway I ate one of its faces!!

This was the special dessert at the Magic Snow stall. Their little faces made of this stuff that’s a mix between a snow cone & ice cream. It’s like creamy ice? It doesn’t come with the chocolate syrup but I paid the extra 50 yen to have that sweet stuff! It’s strawberry flavored and damn sweet. Like… EXTREMELY that it was almost sickening. I said ALMOST! I ate the whole thing happily. It was too cute anyway. His nose was a coffee bean~

Scanned in the flier from the event if you want to see ALL the special Monster Hunter Kitteh treats! It’s really amazing how cute some of these get for edible goodies!

There’s actually a huge selection of desserts here. Freezers full of strange ice cream flavors like curry and snake called “Cup Ice Museum” and also some black colored gelato called “Nero” that draws a crowd. I didn’t try it. You get full FAST here!

There’s also some other restaurants here too~~ really, this is a big place full of delicious foods. You’ve gotta check out the fliers below for the Thriller restaurant!

HAUNTED HOUSE TIME!

OK, enough food! Though it IS a food theme park
Here are some snaps from the rather large portion of the park that’s a haunted house! Haunted cats and haunted lanterns line the walkways. You go into different rooms and trigger events

Does anyone remember my obake obsession from like 2 years ago? It’s no wonder I came here right!? I had actually read all up on the whole 100 years legend thing and everything~~ I LOVED kasa obake~~ *is amusing herself now thinking back* sorry

Seriously WTF do you see that pig-face!? This place really does get scary if you’re a wimp like me, haahaa

English where it counts! LOL Just a fair warning, there’s not much English here (but if you have a basic understanding it’s enough to get you by ;) )

Looks like a cute place! I’m a real wimp when it comes to haunted houses. Even ones that aren’t scary freak me out lol. I think it’s the tension building up of waiting for something to jump out at you XD

    • jenny says:

Yea, this one was sorta like that. Mostly un-scary but then out of no where sudden bangs in the dark! Then you start anticipating it!

  10. ayu says:

I know that place, I’ve seen photos before!!!!!!!!! The name didn’t sound familiar, but then I realized haha XD

O_O wah~ including that dessert you had ( ^ _ ^)* the haunted house looks super wonderful… but the more appropriate word would be “interesting”…the pig-face was really creepy O.O i absolutely wish i was there :’(

  12. Hal says:

They have this place down in Atlanta called “Suno.” It’s just like what you described – the snow cone/ice cream thing. It’s pretty good, but not super sweet. The kitty looks so yummy!

I’d really like to go there if I go to Tokyo! I mean, FOOD theme park? When I heard it I didn’t have an image of it too much because I was like ‘wtf, food? theme park?’ but it still sounded really cool. And now that I’ve seen your images I SERIOUSLY WANT TO GO RIGHT NOW hahahaha!
Although I’d probably avoid the haunted house part (if that is possible? I do hope it is haha) because I am the worst chicken out there… XD
The kitty ice cream looks so cuuute!

  34. Bebi says:

That ice cream looks almost way too cute to be eaten.
