A Little New York Shopping

Wednesday February 08, 2012

I feel bad I couldn’t post this sooner. :;_;:
A lot of you were asking what I got at UNIQLO! Well I took these as soon as I got home today. I was limited on space so I couldn’t get much but I’m a bit surprised I got this much since a lot of what I originally went for was a bust. Like Laduree. I was hoping that they also carried the bath goods at the NYC store but they only had sweets and some home goods like the candles. Anyway! Screw rambling on incoherently :)

UNIQLO; I got a sweater, 2 skirts, 3 blouses, lounge pants and HEATTECH knit shorts that are more like bloomers to wear under dresses. Seriously useful. I like how the tag has both logos sewn on :deco2:

At Rain I wanted to buy everything but salts are heavy. So I picked up just a small amount of items. Besides they informed me I could buy these goods online too from them :D But really I wish I had gotten more. I picked up salts, a soak, facial steam drops, and lotion soakers.

Lips magazine! They had a bunch of back issues but I showed restraint and just bought the current issue. It’s a fairly new magazine. Casual adult style targeting women in their late 20’s early 30’s with a street slant to it. I was hoping they had Figue issues but no luck.

Everything else I bought I already ate so, yea…

Except some NBC Universal store buys lol :)
I wish I wore T-shirts more often because they had a lot of Parks & Rec ones I liked. I got this Community one though as a lounge shirt~ The tote too & Psych phone case :deco2: I have a House neck strap I use every day for my work ID that I got on my previous trip. I get so many comments on it.

Hoooow do you do this? When I go into Uniqulo I never find anything I want. But you get all these things that, now that I see them having been BOUGHT, I’m just like “WANT”. Lulz. I think it means it would just be super fun shopping with you~

    • jenny says:

I WISH WE COULD GO SHOPPING!! I find more stuff when with a friend xOOOO

I thought I was gonna walk out with nothing b/c the items I originally wanted weren’t there but slowly I spotted these items! They had so many button-ups I wanted to buy them alllllll.

I really wanted a new coat from there but didn’t feel like lugging it around =__=

      • Sidney says:

One day I will go to Japan when you do! Or I’ll FINALLY go to the east coast and come FIND YOU hahahaaaa

This relates back to my job-clothes-that-I-like thing, but I’ve been so obsessed with button-ups. I freaking love the dotted ones you bought.

& I always end up finding stuff when I go with a friend, too! Of course when I go with the right friend, they help me pick only the good stuff haha

        • jenny says:

Yeah these I definitely had THE OFFICE in mind, especially the skirts but lately I wear more & more of my “office” stuff out casually and “casual” stuff to the office… hmmmm

  2. Louise says:

Weird, I’m wearing the same grey uniqlo dress RIGHT NOW! I got it on sale at the Soho store for like $12! Woohoo. I didn’t see any good blouses though =(

  3. Sewon says:

Facial steam drops!! I want those.. I actually just moved to NYC last weekend. ^^

    • jenny says:

I saw you did! All your instagram photos are so great \:D/ Lucky you, you can get these whenever you like! Only $6 for 4. I’m going to try them Friday night. Sorta a spa-night planned :D The staff at the store were crazy helpful. Pointed out all the items that included “rose” for me.

  4. karen says:

    me gusta lips!!!!!

  5. Courtney says:

Your uniqlo stuff is really inspiring and very cute…haha I feel I should really stock up more on nice button down shirts…they go really well with so many styles :)
Of course I’m always jealous of your bath stuff… :) I hope you’ll let us know how you like it if you have time!
Lips also seems nice; I’d like to see something similar locally…I think most of the stuff our Japanese grocery gets in is either too young or too old *lol

    • jenny says:

Let me guess, they carry GLOW!! Hahahah, well my market does. Glow is like the #1 selling (and new) magazine for stylish 40 year olds. I’m always half tempted to buy it, it gets amazing freebies too! But then I’m like “nooooooooo calm the fuck down, you’re not there YET!” aaaahahahah

  6. Jenii says:

Ahh! What a cute palette! I can never find anything at Uniqlo so I stopped going ;;== (lamez I am). Ahhhhh the bath goods look awesome!

    • jenny says:

Understandable. I didn’t think I was gonna find anything either. What I went for was the grey skirt and see what HEATTECH stuff they had. Was gonna buy more HEATTECH but it was hardly cold out so I figured … screw it, spring is coming.

  7. Lolo says:

I love the NBC store~ I got a bunch of Office related stuff last summer ^_______^ ~
    I love UNIQLO! Awesome buys~ I wish they had an online store ;____;

  8. sukipooki says:

Omg cute blouses! Polka dots are to die for!!! Im so jelly! I wish uniqlo would open up in Canada =( boo hoo!

p.s this is just making me crave tokyo too hahaha

  9. Mary says:

OMG!!! I AM SO JEALOUS!!! I love Uniqlo!!! When I was in China, I found a store…but they don’t carry a small enough size. I’ve always liked Uniqlo for their blouses since it’s basic but nice colours and prints.

  10. Bianca says:

oooh i like these shirts i usually find uniqlo boring but I love these pieces!!!

IS THAT ANNA TSUCHIYA??? IS SHE DONE DRESSING LIKE A 15 YEAR OLD NOW?????

    ….is it not anna tsuchiya…:’(…?

    • jenny says:

Yeah basics are often super boring but then when you need them you can’t find them ANYWHERE! So I stock up when I can.

Yea that’s Anna, she’s in some spread described as casual adult party mix where she’s wearing tapestry coats and what not.

  11. lissy says:

those uniqlo heattech shorts are amazing, they keep you really warm :3

  12. Jessica says:

Uniqlo is great! It looks like you had a fun time shopping :)

  13. Thanh Thao says:

Love your Uniqlo gets!! I love their jeans-look-alike leggins a lot, I have to get myself another pair when I ever pass Uniqlo again XDDD The shirts from Uniqlo are very good, cause they are the only ones that suit me properly in terms of size ;)

    • jenny says:

I think these are my first blouses from UNIQLO. I bought some things last year in Tokyo and really got some good use out of them! So I’m hoping these will last too :)

  14. Scott says:

I think uniqlo is spread wider than MacDonald now in Tokyo. It’s like we got a little one at almost every train station.

  15. Michelle says:

I really want to go to Uniqlo, but there’s only one physical location and it’s in NY. I’ve only heard of the brand through blogging (fail fail fail). I should try ordering their stuff online ^_^

I love ALL of your gets including the Community tee! :)

  16. Etienne says:

The shirts are so cute! Were them cheap? And please explain to me how can you use XS! Mygod! XD I never saw a UNIQLO store in Brazil >: Same for H&M and stuff, pretty sad ._. Anyway amazing clothes! Jenny, your fashion sense is so nice! I really wish i could wear just skirts or dresses >: Sometimes just wearing jeans is too boring ._. And on college, did you usually wear just jeans?

    • jenny says:

They were $30 each. It’s not super cheap but $30 for a good button-up blouse is a good price in my opinion. UNIQLO only sells basic items. They are affordable but not necessarily super cheap sometimes :)

Hmmm~ college~~ Well I definitely wore jeans more often than I do now, but I still wore skirts too. I wore a skirt maybe 2~3 times a week in college. But I never wore blouses or button-up shirts. I rarely even owned a sweater! I went to college in a hot climate so I didn’t wear tights, coats, or knits very often. I dressed MUCH more casual too and really liked “cute girly clothes.” I would always wear t-shirts or tank tops even on skirt days. Another thing I never wore in college that I wear a lot now were dresses. I only had 1 dress and it was for going to clubs and bars lol. I did wear short heels a lot though. I think they dressed up jeans easily. But I also wore flip flops constantly too :P

      • Etienne says:

Do you wear more high heels now? As for price. It’s easy to see that you pay a really reasonable price on your clothes, being “brand” or just simple ones. I see a lot of bloggers that just and only buy stuff that costs more than US$100 or something, you can totally manage your style with a good budget. In Brazil, we have stores like UNIQLO! Marisa, Riachuelo, Renner and others stores have a good variety of products for many sizes and styles!

        • jenny says:

Actually I only /ONLY/ wore heels for maybe the past 7 years!!!!!! Then this summer I got really obsessed with minnetonka… then plain black flats… and then more oxfords. Actually my oxford boots from last winter started getting me out of wearing heels as much. Now I wear heels every day at work but not always after work anymore. I’m really in love with my black flats and oxfords.

Yeah I rarely buy items at $100. I do have a few at that cost… but I can definitely tell you which they are!! Because I only want to buy timeless, good pieces at that price.

  17. Magie says:

Hey Jenny, looks like you had such a lovely time! :) I will definately have to check out Rain and Uniqlo when I go to NYC this summer! :3 Soooooo’ excited~!

Btw, was curious, what are your top ten favorite blogs, that are in English? :) I’m always curious about what ones you love to read, as you’re one of my favorites!

  18. Lisa says:

Ooo, that UNIQLO opened up recently. Its kind of close by my office so I need to make a trip there one day.

I really want to check on Rain now too, but I only have a shower stall in my current apt. *cries forever*

Did you check out the Madewell on the 5th Ave? Its right by an Aldo and Zara.

    • jenny says:

Rain has really nice shower items plus soaps too thankfully if you do stop by! :)

Yeah I looked into visiting the Madewell there but since I was limited on time I decided to skip it. I have 3 great ones near me already so I was mostly focused on eating great food & visiting shops DC happens to not have. Would have liked to have made it to APC, MBMJ, and Catbird but next time~~ :)

  19. Tori says:

Awesome gets! ♥ You got so many great basics at UNIQLO… Another store that totally fits your style aesthetic, haha ;)
The Community tee is adorable too!

  20. Jesslyn says:

Hi Jenny! I found your blog while googling for ‘peter pan collar dress’ last time. Haha! OMG..so random I know. Anyways, just wanna say I LOVE your blog so much! Love the way you write about everything! Had been reading and following your blog ever since. Just a random ques, do u have a Facebook page? :)

    • jenny says:

LOL sadly I bet I know which entry you landed on for that xDDD

Thank you so much for the sweet words, I truly appreciate it! I do have a FB but I use it for family & offline friends only. But I’m on Tumblr and Twitter :)

  21. cin says:

Eeeee?!! I’ve never seen Uniqlo have such nice shirts before or maybe I wasn’t looking properly??

    • jenny says:

I dunno, I didn’t see these at the other UNIQLO the day before. For me UNIQLO can be great but I have to browse the shop a while before I find something.

  22. Moni says:

Oh my gahhh, you got some cool stuff! I heart Uniqlo, but I haven’t been there in ages :( Kinokuniya is one of my favorite stores ever, and I wish they had one in Maryland or DC! Would you ever put up some scans from Lips? The age range and fashion looks perfect for me. And finally, I love that you got a Psych phone case! Black & Tan would approve ;)

    • jenny says:

DC gets skipped constantly despite being ranked #1 in “shopaholism!” :O

I will totally scan inspiration from Lips and post it! Yeah the age range is what drew me in too. Lately a few new late 20’s into 30’s casual magazines are cropping up, thankfully.

Awe man, Black & Tan, I really miss new episodes!!

  23. Sam says:

Uniqlo!!!!! Oh how I love that store XD I’m so sad that after all these years there still isn’t a Uniqlo in Canada! The skirts look great and I really love the striped sweater too :)

  24. Kate says:

Ah~ I love those shirts. I wish we have a Uniqlo in my state. Sigh~.
