Non-no’s been doing sections in some issues where they take a poll of guys’ opinions on what they prefer in women’s fashion (mostly.) It’s really one of my favorite sections. Sometimes surprising too. Like what’s preferred for make-up between none and up to full on. I scanned in some of the July 20 issue’s. Very image heavy 
& in no particular order…

Σ(・ω・ノ)ノ how can they like no makeup?? anytime i read a ‘what guys like’ chart i usually get mad though, it seems unfair they like what shows the most skin usually.

Cute taste on some of those and really bad on others.. but surprising, though! I guess most Japanese guys like cute & romantic? Boys here prefer sexy..

Haha, so funny. Well, it’s not the guys that most girls worry about. Like the saying how girls dress for other girls to judge or so, since we’re way more judgmental than guys when it comes to fashion.

oh, i don’t know about you, but i’m not very surprised by most of the guys preferences on women. from what i experienced/observed, most men in general (not only in japan, but in some parts of asia) prefer women to look “simple & natural”, not overdone in glamorous amounts of fashion and impressive makeup. of course, not all men are like that (the poll itself only speaks for typical japanese boys anyway). thinking backwards, it’s kind of like if women prefer makeup on men (ie; visual kei, etc).
it’s interesting either way though!
ps. also, jenn, even though it’s already been weeks- thankyou so much for the email bit about photoshop. i really appreciate it! really big help for my photomanips, thank-you thank-you~

I’m in Japan now and ALL the girls are wearing the roman style sandals so I find it hilarious that they were some of the lowest scoring shoes

I think those pages just show what Japanese men prefer JAPANESE girls to wear. If you aren’t even Japanese, why should you care? Just take it as an entertaining read! Unless…you wanna snag a jap guy but most jap guys prefer jap to caucasian girls…..
