calm before the storm, hurricane Ivan log

On the way home from picking up my paycheck we were stopped on a stand still traffic street when suddenly a car slammed into us from behind. Mike’s bumper is badly damaged and my neck was snapped back onto the seat. My neck is slightly sore now, but I’ll be fine and don’t think I’ll need to get it looked at. The whole ordeal was terrible. The roads are, needless to say, unbearably jammed. We got all the insurance things straightened out and the guy that hit us seemed nice enough and terribly sorry. He said his brakes went out. It’s just another thing to worry about now besides the hurricane.

I’ll try to stay connected as long as possible. Hopefully power & DSL won’t go, but if they do you’ll know it because I plan to update every few hours with some photos. Ivan is supposed to hit early Thursday morning. Thanks everyone for the support!

seems like Ivan might be verting East leaving us with just heavy rain bands and perhaps power outages. My Parents & family on the other hand are still near its projected landfall path. We will see. The clouds broke for some sunset. It’s hard to tell the winds in these photos

We are just now getting some rain bands and feeling tropical storm winds. A poor frog is seeking refuge

9/16 12:11 am
Winds are picking up. Expected 90 mph winds around 3 am. We are starting to hear the wind pressing against the door & windows. We just saw some sort of bright blue & red flashes in the far distant. We are thinking perhaps a transistor was knocked or a business sign just got torn by the winds. It sucks not knowing. So far power seems okay. My parents are doing well, I just talked to me Dad which is rare but my mom was asleep so I had a chat with him. He was worried about my neck but I told him it was just a little stiff and that the insurance company said I can still go in later if it hurts and it will still be covered by the other guy’s insurance (thank goodness.) Anyway~ rain rain rain .

   oh my goodness!i’m glad you’re ok…well except for you neck, but at least you weren’t hurt but it’s good that the guy who hit you was nice ’cause some people can be pretty unfair when it comes to a car accident ;

    interesting pictures ^___^ .. i can’t believe your car got smashed up or, mike’s car. something, but i just realized that you’re extrmely optimistic, and you rarely whine or complain! i’m so proud of you, since i suck at it. you won’t last a minute beside me if we were carrying heavy bags and walking or it’s raining. or w/e. u noe. i’m just really amazed that your ability to act bravely in situations. i would’ve cried..=_=; but good luck!

    Oohhhh, I hope your neck will be okay.
    Such pretty pictures, but I hope that it passes you and your family, or atleast not hit you too hard.
