Today I traded my car…

For a sweeter ride!

Yamaha Vino!

Backstory:
So my current car I had since college (4 years total.) It was a 95 Ford Taurus (oh yes! ) But since moving up here I haven’t needed it. In the past 2 years I’ve driven it a MAXIMUM of 5 times… :screech: So I NEVER drove it but yet had to spend all this money on tags, maintenance, insurance (600$ a year!) and so on. It was a bitch to keep parked too :hii:. I hated it . It was expensive, never driven, breaking down (hello 12 years old!) and nothing but a PAIN. I didn’t need it but I didn’t like the idea of only having 1 car between Mike & I.

So a few weeks ago Mike suggested trading it in or selling it and buying a moped :girlquestion:

It was hard at first. IT WAS MY CAAAAR. But the truth was there . It wouldn’t last much longer never being driven, and the moped was a fantastic alternative. :sprout: If I need the car for a doctor’s visit Mike could take the moped into work. I could also get to my train station on it and park it for free. Maryland’s/& DC’s moped laws are SO relaxed it’s a bit of a shock.

It’s going to take time getting used to driving it. It reminds me of my Waverunner days only if I fall instead of forgiving water I’ll smack hellish pavement. AAAAAHAHAHH!

I’m so happy not having to take care of my car. Moped means no tags, no car insurance, no 1,000$ repairs, ANNNND when we move into the new house it can fit in the garage WITH our other car!! 1 snuggled up happy family with no need for street parking bullshit

Woww, that is so cool. I seen a pink one before and wanted it, ~ Only b/c it was pink, of course.

It looks like it was a very good decision, too. Have fun driving it!! ^____________^

How sweet! A moped! Where I live isn’t really a moped environment. I’ll keep in mind about a moped if I ever move to Maryland. I remember I saw a movie in French class and it had people driving mopeds and I thought that was such a cool idea. I hope you have fun with it.

First trading in the one iPod for another and now the moped for the car. Be careful and don’t drive to fast eh. And remember to lock it up well.

ooo .. don’t see a lot of them around melbourne. however you made the right choice.. what’s the point of having a car and paying for all the extras when you rarely use it.

That’s fantastic! I’ve been dying to get a Vespa for a really long time but it’s dangerous to drive it in Orlando. We have one of the highest rates of automobile crashes and pedestrian deaths in the nation! Even though I live only a short distance from my work, I’d be scared to drive it…

I have my eye on a Mini Cooper though!

heehee, my bf was thinking of getting a scooter but in the end, we decided to drive a car instead ; altho .. i still want a moped .. easy on the gas and less room and cheaper maintence ..

The moped is so uber cute! I was looking at one just yesterday thinking how cute it’d be to have one but then I’m a heavy packer for everything and putting a bag on my back for so long doesn’t seem fun

cute!! savin’ money and savin’ the environment… gooooooooo planet! (sorry, too much captain planet as a child)

don’t feel too bad about the ipod, new models mean all the accessories for the old one will soon be on super-clearance! (

awww~ thats so cute. must save tons of money on gas! Though I would be worried about it being too cold to ride in the winter. It reminds me of the scooters in Europe. (even though it Yamaha! XD)

    UWA!
do you really have it? is that really yours! wow your lucky
everyone in china has one, since there’s no place for parking and bicycles aren’t that fast
    BUT COOL XD XD
    is it electric or gas?
the electric ones i heard are pain cause it’s like hard to charge and it only runs for 1 hour or so bfore it dies and the batteries are SO HEAVY
    anyways
    it’s so cute

Ah, that’s a really good compromise! I guess you can’t go too far on it though? But you still have another car around so I guess that’s alright. My cars the same, expensive and causes me trouble. But when I finally have to give it up I think I’m going to be really sentimental too, it’s my first one too :/ But that one looks awesome too

Oh wow!!! That’s so AWESOME! XD I so wanna get a pink scooter, but it’s not very practical where we currently live in Atlanta. Maybe when we relocate to a new city or something~!

Ah, how nice! Everything worked out just fine. You save lots of money and it’s convenient! Your moped looks very nice

Eeyah! That’s such a good idea. I have always wanted one, but I have to drive long distances a lot. Good decision ^__^

Aaaahhh! You lucky, lucky duck! I want a moped as well, I was thinking of a pink or yellow one like in flcl. But you got one in my fav color! It’s so cute and no ins or tags, HELL YEAH!!!

  27. Carmen said,

    September 8, 2007 @ 1:32 am

Oh wow, that seemws like an excellent trade and your moped looks like it’d be a lot of fun to ride. I’ve never actually seen anyone riding them in Sydney so perhaps this trend hasn’t reached us yet but when it does, I want one, hah.

  28. Sara said,

    September 8, 2007 @ 11:40 am

Lol, You know Jen, I was gonna get one instead of a car because cars are much too expensive for their worth. D:

By the time you have owned it for a year, these days, it’ll almost have paid for itself in the gas you put into it.

  29. Hachi said,

    September 8, 2007 @ 11:53 am

    I’m happy that you’re happy that you….yeah

BE CAREFUL! My mum had about 4 scooters. She had accidents which caused injuries and 3 were stolen. The last one she gave away because “too much trouble”.
A moped is definitely more convenient for swishing through traffic and for fitting in garages. Don’t forget your helmet and padding (try not to show bare skin because if you fall off that skin’ll be on the road). You have to be extra cautious on roads for the people in cars who may not see you.
XO I HOPE YOU DON’T EVER FALL OFF! (I’ve seen too many bike accidents) COVER UP FOR HACHI!
