Some scans from the French-inspired spread found in this month’s issue of Lee magazine. These pages were a textured paper so the scans might look a little textured or muted unlike scans of glossy magazine pages. :)

I like the new popular skirt length that hits at or below the knees. Mostly because many of my skirts already fall to this length due to my short stature, but I also just personally feel more comfortable in that length. Though it can be problematic if the fabric likes to get caught in between your legs while walking. I usually wear a short slip under those skirts which will prevent it from bunching and riding up.

These were scanned in from the April issue of Lee magazine. This month’s cover wasn’t really up my alley. Thankfully it didn’t reflect the contents at all.

A friend of mine had introduced me to the Japanese jewelry company Mederu earlier this year. She then sent me their summer collection book. The booklet contained fantastic imagery. It focuses more on a lifestyle of simple pleasures more so than the luxury of jewelry. I have absolutely fallen ♥ for this brand.

Inspirations in Basics

“Jeans & a tee” doesn’t have to carry the connotation of lazy-dressing. 90% of it probably lies in the attitude of the wearer. The other 10% is likely accessories and color palette. I’ve gotten the question, “How do you wear a tee and jeans without looking like you gave up,” so, so often. For me, the color tones of a basics look are more important than the actual fit. I talk a lot about my Everlane box-cut tees. This shape just works for me in both fit and personal preference. I feel good in them. I have them in 6 different colors now. Would some suggest a more fitted tee would show off my figure better and thus, “look better?” You betcha. But I wouldn’t feel comfortable in that and I would look uncomfortable and people would see me looking uncomfortable and that’s just an all-around no for me.

So here are some inspirations from STYLENANDA using pretty basic items, some with special details and others just paired with contrasting textures and volume.

I happened to catch that a magazine I used to subscribe to (Mer) recently released a special edition version for women around 30 called “Mer+” or Mer Plus.

I was subscribed to Mer for a few years and unsubscribed last summer. It was originally called “Vintage Mix Girls” [Furugi Mix Girls] until they made the change in February ’13 to Mer.

I thought I’d post some of the pages from Mer+ that were put out as teasers. I’ll also post a few from the regular issues of Mer. Like Baila, Mer has a lot of “baby bangs” hair styles but the clothing is much more casual with emphasis on “adult cute” and girly clothing.

I’ve tried a few of the above Madewell items on. I really liked the dotted black skirt. If my black bistro skirt were already so similar I would have gotten it. The sweater-jacket in the second photo is extremely cool. Zips like a leather jacket. It does however shed white fibers badly and since I wear so much black it wouldn’t be a good combo for me.

New Madewell Summer Items

Recently Madewell put up a bunch of new items on their site as well as updated their lookbooks. These were my favorites.

Hoping I can at least try on a few of the above items. :)
I really like the windowpane boyshirt but I’d want it in blue. I’ve seen a lilac version in the store and I know the moment I were to buy it in red blue would come out! So I’m crossing my fingers it comes out in other colors.

A Few New Capsules

A few capsule wardrobes I posted recently on Tumblr.

Making the camping one helped motivate me to get the camping supplies together and start planning out weekends I can get out and get to it!

This next one I tagged as #fem!winchester summer followed by #gardening with cas

Today I was really motivated to reorganize my closet for summer. Get realistic about which skirts and tops I’d actually wear now that it’s summer hot day after day. Pack away some things for fall. Got a small pile of maybe 5 things together for the donation bin. Then I hit up my makeup stash. A few things I’ve hit pan on and were ready to be tossed. 7 items in total. When I’m feeling more purge-like I might go through it again and remove things I like but rarely use xP

Felt SO GOOD to walk into my closet at the end of the day :)
