Madewell
Wednesday August 14, 2013
Last weekend I happened to do some shopping. I was eager to try Madewll’s new denim and had also planned to purchase a new pair of black jeans this year. I also purchased 2 tops.

The striped top I purchased is the same series as the first image but with shorter sleeves and in a navy blue. The “pixelbloom” silk top isn’t something I’d usually pick up. I had wanted to purchase the pixelbloom dress but it was much too long on me (came far past my knees.) The top turned out to be really nice though. I love silk and I liked the fact it was something a little different from my usual choices.

The new denim really does fit great. It’s stretchy and very comfortable. But it is drastically different from their old denim which was soft and relaxed. I’m not sure if they plan on carrying both denims in the future. I would sort of hope so but I don’t buy jeans often so it won’t really effect me.
It’s especially cool today and feeling like autumn again. I was thinking the only things I want to wear are these 3 new things plus…
- black bistro skirt
- red gingham silk shirt
- denim boyshirt
- white box tee
- blue dot silk boyshirt
- tokyo storyteller scarf

I really love that floral top but it looks just a wee bit too short for me (I’m busty so anything on the shorter side can quickly become a crop top). I’ll just live vicariously through you!
The weather today was lovely~ Made me feel so ready for autumn, but then again I’ve been ready for autumn since May. haha.

This reminds me, I need a new pair of black jeans. :p
I love stretchy jeans because it’s hard to fit to those
that aren’t. Plus it’s super comfortable! -
Cute purchases :) It’s a shame the pixelbloom dress version was too long. But the top is still lovely. Depending on the type of dress (and if I really loved it), I would just buy it too long and then have the length altered hehe :P

I’ve been really curious about the “Skinny Skinny High Rise” jeans, but the new denim is throwing me off. I don’t have a store here so I’d have to buy online to try and I don’t like that if they have changed the jeans. I only own “Rail Straight” style from them! Meh.
Cute purchases. And I like the new look on the blog!

The Skinny Skinny High Rise are my favorite jeans and the ones I get the most compliments on. However, I got all the new e-mail blasts about the revamped denim and I really hope they don’t change this pair! They already discontinued one of my favorite pairs (high-rise Flea Market flares).
All these changes with the new head designer… I should’ve known something was up with the crazy late season sales on even the regular denim styles.

I hit submit before I was done. What I wanted to say is that the High-Riser jeans are awesome. Less “Mom” looking than most high-rise jeans (ahem… American Apparel) and good quality denim. They almost always have a 20% denim sale every couple of months so if you’re not already signed up for their newsletter, stalk their website & Facebook for details.

I really like the blue stripped shirt, especially because of the cute pocket detail! I’m not much of a “statement” shirt person as a statement accessory, but it’ll be really cool to see how you coordinate that! :D
P.S. The new constellation banner looks cute ^w^

contrast stripe pocket = AMAZE I love details like that (*0*)

I have one pair of skinny skinnys from the old madewell denim and I dont love them at all. Had to get them hemmed and I feel like they stretch out in a weird way (knees, bum). Maybe I will prefer the new fit better.

I like the floral blouse! And stripes are always nice.
I visited Madewell for the first time about a month ago (we don’t have the store here in Oklahoma), and it was cool, but…I wasn’t really crazy about the jeans! They were soft and comfortable, but they felt like the could rip pretty easily. And now they have jeans they say are stretchier (I hate stretchy jeans), so I’m even less interested, unfortunately. I like heavier denim better…like you might see in a pair of Levis.
