High hopes

Saturday, June 16th, 2007 | 14 Comments

When living in the south there were things I came accustom to. Compliments. Compliments were thrown out as often as “hello’s.” Maybe it’s the “southern hospitality” aspect of it all. Either way, I’d get compliments out the wazoo on everything from a new outfit to a slight change in my hair. When I moved up here I realized I had taken it for granted. Even when I’d get a noticeable hair cut no one would comment on it. No one. It’s not just that, it’s everything. Compliments just aren’t casually thrown around here.
ANYWAY, my point is though that since I trimmed my bangs 2 weeks ago I’ve gotten SO, SO many compliments on it. Which makes me think, did my side swept bangs look THAT hideous!?!?!? The new bangs do really change the shape of my face… I’d like to think I look like this now…

AHAHAHAHHA! :good: Well, maybe I’m taking a slight resemblance a bit far… but oh well, I can dream!

I think side swept bangs are cute, although I don’t have any, but am tempted to get it. It’s just that I haven’t had bangs since 3rd grade. My mom gave me a bowl cut which made me look like a boy….

Haha, I know what you mean, however I am the opposite. I live in a culture where compliments were never thrown around, you were more downgraded. But if you receive a compliment, it’s like “WHAT?” *blush*
Yeh I sometimes think that as well, if someone says something looks good you wonder if what you used to have is hideous? 0_o; I think you looked nice with the swept bangs and this new fringe. You’re lucky your face shape suits both! ^^

Well I thought both looks really well on you!! I guess the side swept bangs looks more mature and the full fringe looks younger? Dunno that’s my opinion of the different style haha aaa sleepy~~

Wow, she looks so gorgeous~! Very pretty & the hair is extremely CUTE. I see the resemblance w/ the style.. I went back a few posts to look at the pics you put up of your new cut and it does look similiar. ^_________^

Ya, I’m not even up until 1am anymore.. it’s sooo hard to stay up late now.

haha, I think of DC as the “south”. I spent some time in the midwest and couldn’t get used to the “niceness”.. here, people are only that “nice” if they’re being sarcastic or ironic… or if they’re a serial killer, trying to get to their next victim.

I thought your sideswept bangs looked cute, too ^^ I think the new bang is more dramatic of a look, and you can pull it off.

Haha! I myself am making the transition from straight bangs to side swept bangs. The grass is always greener on the other side, I guess.. I’ve never lived in the South, but I think compliments are pretty common in the North as well.. of course, I don’t really have anything to compare it to, so I’m not much help! The bangs definitely look good though. I’m a fan of bangs.

Ooh! Those bangs look real nice on you! I tried them out for a bit but I screwed up my bangs big time ;; My face is too round for straight across bangs and now they are awkwardly sideswept, so I have to wait for them to grow out, booo. You look the cutest!!

Humm..southern hospitality…I never noticed that When I moved down here from the North, I thought northerners were much nicer than southerners (esp. the way they drive). But I see your point^^ It’s always nice to give and receive compliments. It makes both sides feel good. Btw, your haircut is really cute!

From the top of the to her eyebrows, it’s you! I really though it was, then scrolled down to see, yeah.
The best compliment I got from my recent haircut was “It looked good before” - they should have said that before so I hadn’t gone out that day and stayed in and saved my hair instead!
