My Beauty Diary: Black Pearl Mask

Thursday, October 13th, 2011 | 50 Comments

I’ve used My Beauty Diary masks for a few years now. Off and on, as a special treat. But lately I’ve been thinking I need to use them more often as a necessity! And this Black Pearl version might just have to be the go-to one!

Yesstyle sent a few my way to review. They have a huge selection of My Beauty Diary right now. The Black Pearl version focuses on “Whitening & Nourishing.” Lately my skin has been getting a little dry with the air getting drier as autumn carries on. So this was a good opportunity to rejuvenate my skin!

I don’t know if it’s the mask, or the fact I put it on after a workout, but it’s really refreshing! So cool and moisturizing. After only a few minutes my skin was feeling so wonderful. Really, I am loving this Black Pearl version!

I was thinking the whitening would be great for redness or dark spots left from acne. Not really actual whitening but more to lighten dark spots. I thankfully didn’t have any acne scars currently. But one reason I love My Beauty Diary is because their masks never break me out! I’ve tried various versions too and so far my sensitive skin has remained calm and acne free after using them. My favorites from before include Bulgarian Rose and Red Vine.

After the 30 minute treatment my skin was illuminated and even! No red blotches like usual, just glowing, even colored skin.

This one was an English version too so I could actually read the full directions & description. Usually I just have to locate the amount of time to wear it and that was all I could make out. So these translated versions are a welcomed surprise.

The My Beauty Diary Black Pearl box of 10 masks is available on Yesstyle here.

Here’s the official description -

Oh, are you worried because of whitening? I read that it doesn’t really whitened, many girls with tans have used it. But if you’re worried there are LOTS of non-whitening versions too!

Really! I’ll have to do more research and look into this :3

Great! They have some just daily care versions, I think the Mixed Berry is a daily care type, no whitening. I used it a while ago & remember it smelling so … delicious, LOL!

I saw this in the local oriental market but it was hella expensive D; (like 30 bucks!) Better off ordering online I suppose? I should give this a try ~ I too have sensitive skin so I’m really scared of putting things on my face for fear that I’ll break out in two seconds…

Whoa so much!! I’ve purchased the 7 day variety pack at my local Japanese market and it was less than half that cost! Yeah, better buying online with prices like that D:

I’m the same way with my face. I almost LOATHE any sort of facial free sample because there’s like an 85% chance it’ll break me out. But these…. me gusta

I love MBD mask! I stocked up when I was in Korea and I love who there is a plastic sheet on the mask that you have to peel before you use it Out of a lot of masks I’ve tried, MBD never disappoints when it comes to moisturizing!

jenny said
October 14, 2011 @ 9:18 am

Agreed on the plastic sheet! SOOOO much easier to open up compared to other brands that don’t have the mask peel off a sheet.

I still haven’t picked up any MBD Masks ;_; I’ve been hearing about all these fake MBDs so I’ve been kind of hesitant though xP
Have you tried the Macaron one? That sounds lovely!

I read about that too, it’s a shame. Gotta be sure you’re getting the real deal of course!

I haven’t tried the macaron one, though I’d like to! I did try the chocolate truffle one though

Before I comment (and apologize for not commenting lately - sick, work, and love life issues) about your blog post I just wanted to say THANK YOU times a million for your package to me. That was completely unnecessary! The fact that I even got an opportunity to buy such an amazing package from you was enough for me regardless of what happened between that and my dog (haha). You are so very kind. I don’t know if you saw my post on my Tumblr (I posted two blogs if I’m not mistaken about the packages), but I just wanted to thank you so so very much.

I have to try out that mask. I heard so much about it!

Thank you for letting me know! Sorry, I’m not on Tumblr as much as I used to be so I missed them, but I’m just SO happy it arrived and that your dog didn’t eat it this time xDD!! I’m also glad I was able to find a few more Sanrio things at my office I just felt that it really sucked so much of the stuff you ordered got destroyed and it probably really bummed you out, so, just a little pick-me-up!

my best friend actually uses this brand of masks and she LOVES it hahaha
im thinking of getting some myself but am unsure as to what would be suiitable for my skin type because its a cross between oily/combination skin :(

jenny said
October 14, 2011 @ 9:27 am

Definitely think about your skin’s needs. I’m the same, combination. And I like the moisturizing ones for when my skin gets more on the dry side. The Mixed Berries version is really nice, smells great, and good for just basic skincare

What a coincidence! I just recently purchased their “strawberry yogurt” mask. lol. I’ve been getting these dark spots left behind from pimples lately and it doesn’t seem to fade away. I’m hoping the strawberry mask will help as it has “whitening” effect.

jenny said
October 14, 2011 @ 9:27 am

Oh I hope it helps too! Anything to get those dark spots to fade more quickly!

I’m very glad that you explained the whole whitening-effect because I always thought that it made you paler which sounds anything other than healthy and nourishing. But now I know! Thanks!

jenny said
October 14, 2011 @ 9:40 am

Haha, nah, whitening is just really good for dark spots and evening out skintone. I know some products are more intense whitening for real change but this definitely isn’t one of them.

I just ordered a box. (FYI) I used the coupons code FACEBOOK5 and got 5 dollars off my order . Ever since you recommended the acne care system from Clinique I have been hooked on your skin care suggestions! The Clinique system works sooo well for me, I’m so happy! This mask sounds really good too and 10 in one box is a pretty good deal.

The Clinique routine is working for you too then?! AH I’M SOOO GLAD!!!!!! If my routine can work for even just one other person it was worth posting! I know the perils of BATTLING bad skin ;__;

This is one of my fav too! Everytime after using it, I can see my skin glow and seems fairer too! I used to purchase them in bulk over a blog community but I’ve been lazy and hardly use sheet masks now.

I’m currently using wash off masks like Origins Drink Up or Laneige Water Sleeping Pack Ex and Tony Moly Tomato Brightening and Whitening Mask. The latter is more for whitening, and it does instant brightening! The other two are for hydration.

Do you prefer sheet masks? or wash off mask? =)

jenny said
October 17, 2011 @ 3:24 pm

I do prefer sheet masks mostly. They tend to break me out less. My one exception is this Mint Julep acne mud mask I use. it’s a cream wash off and I like it because I can do just spot treatments with it
