New Camera Purchase!

Sunday, November 16th, 2008 | 29 Comments

I was planning on buying a new digital camera this Black Friday. But honestly the Black Friday ads that have come out have been ultra disappointing. The prices haven’t been very good and the cameras offered aren’t any better than my 4 year old 4.1 Sony digital camera really.
:F
I’ve been weighing my options of what I’d like & need in a new digital camera. Mine is starting to crap out. The screen goes fuzzy, it sometimes takes purple photos, the screen tones no longer match the photo taken… so I need to replace it soon. In the end I realized my biggest need was a camera that could take good, clear images at lower light levels without flash. For example, a lot of my photos from Japan look like this

boxes of colored contacts

boxes of fireworks

The night photo I could understand, even though I was standing perfectly still while taking it. The others were disappointing. The stores were super well lite and the blurriness is just aggravating. So a camera with image stabilization was really my biggest desire. I’ll stop at that, rather than explain EVERY REASON why I chose the following camera…

Fujifilm Finepix F60fd

It’s brand new to the market, 12MP with Dual Image Stabilization, and I got it within my budget range thanks to the looming Black Friday sales :!: I’m really excited to receive it! And if it blows I’ll just return it :haha: But the reviews said it’s suppose to be really good for low lighted situations, so we’ll see.

Speaking of spending I got a few things on crazy sale this weekend too, but I’m waiting on my new camera to come in Tuesday to take pictures. Kinda like, to test it out!
~anyway~ :calmair:

I finally got around to scanning in these 2 free hostess ad booklets I picked up while in Kabukicho! HAHAHA One is Chibi Maru and the other is PQ Chibi Maru seems more for women looking for hostess clubs (mostly male clubs are advertised here) & hostess jobs, and PQ is a booklet targeting hostess girls providing ads for goods & services they might need in their “line” of work, hahaahh. I know the whole idea of Hostess makes many people nauseous~ however I am not one of those people. So please to enjoy a few scans from these booklets~ I was LOL’ing the entire time I was flipping through these I just it so much!
I spared you guys from ads on plastic surgery & boob enhancement,

Oh those crazy hosts/hostesses Swimming in their money… =o

Girls have it better because they can wear all kinds of stuff but the guys all come out looking the same with the hair and the black suits D

My friend keeps telling me to wait until I’m in Japan to buy a camera… but I see all kinds of cameras that are like 10megapixels for like $150 over here =o is there something up with that cuz it sounds really good to me… #_#

What do you think I should do?

Hope that your new camera will be awesome ;D It looks mighty spiffy. *researches*

I looked for a camera in Japan too!! Unless you haggle the price (which you can only do in Akihabara these days & it’s not really as accepted as it used to be) you’re getting the same price as if you were to buy it in the US. I actually thought their prices were worse :X.

Just my opinion lol

Wow, 12 megapixels? Mine is 8.1 megapixels and it’s Sony too. Never tried Fuji digital cameras before either, so not sure if they’re any good,. Please let us know how your new camera works out! =)

I want a camera that’s good at taking pictures at lower light level too. My room is rather dark and kind of “yellowish” so I always have to turn flash on whenever I want my pictures to turn out bright. And my screen tone NEVER matches the picture I take too. They appear SO BRIGHT on my screen and yet they’re SO DARK when I upload them onto my computer! D:

i watched a documentary on japanese host boys… that made me kind of sad, but i guess its ok if they enjoy doing that kind of work :o

personally i’ve always gotten canon cameras… the light thing is not really an issue because whenever it goes blurry i can set a lower shutter speed blurry pics are so annoying!

uwaaa 12MP fujifilm?? sounds so cool~~
i got a canon 12MP one over the summer as a gift from my uncle - apparently the one i’ve got is only available in asia and hasn’t been released overseas yet - they didn’t sell the things with an english manual! in the end we had to call the canon headquarters and have them ship us an english manual….so troublesome…but the camera isawesome!!
and i laughed going through the pictures of host clubs… but after reading so much manga and seeing dramas like jotei, i was really surprised at what real life hostesses and hosts look like - i supposed i expected…. prettier people i guess haha. the guys all look like jrockers in suits to me and the girls all look ganguros or at least some form of gyaru with boob jobs… lol

Wow. A new digital camera? I got a new ipod. I love it so much. The reason why I got a new ipod too is because my mp3 broke and wouldn’t turn on even if I plugged it into the laptop. So yeah congrats on the new camera! Hopefully you’ll be able to take beautiful pictures with this one. I’m sorry the pictures from Japan didn’t come out all that good. I could still make it out though.

Aww camera envy. My camera’s flash just died so I keep stealing Ray’s but it doesn’t feel the same as having my own camera. I love Fuji-finepix cameras they’re always really good quality photos and my first camera lasted me for years. I still haven’t found one to beat it yet.

Oh yeah, I used to have a Cybershot a long while ago and it sucked, specially night shots. I bought a Cannon 3 years ago ans it’s so much better! And mine doesn’t even have IS! But I don’t think I’ll change it anytime soon, I love my camera, it’s the perfect size and the pictures are still amazing

Darn tootin’ inconveniences RSS reader fans. :p Hehe kidding. Not so sure I know *exactly* what you mean by hostess clubs… … maybe. But it was cute looking at their poses. He and I like the hair style with the braids on the front however weird that may be.

Congrats on finding a digi-cam you really like!!

The stiffness of those host’s hair is unbelievable. I feel that if I lit a match a foot away from their hair it would burst in flames.

anyways, I feel I should have posted this to you earlier. Sorry. As you can see, I’m a silent reader, but I’ll start commenting sometimes.

Higher resolution cameras usually results in higher image noise, cause the pixels per inch is so high, there’s greater detail, more noise.
http://news.cnet.com/2100-1041_3-6156398.html

Personally, I find 7megapixels is already good enough. and to fix your problem with blurriness, a camera with manual settings is always good, if you know how to use them. That way you can choose a higher aperture to and get a faster shutter speed and such.

Hope you find your dream camera!
