Pajamas & Recipes

Thursday June 25, 2009

I ended up feeling quite sick this morning so I went ahead and stayed home. I was resting on & off again all day and feel 70% better now. I dunno, maybe it was just stress & exhaustion? Or maybe I’m fighting off some cold. I’ve had an on & off again sore throat for days. I don’t know. I was just downstairs this morning trying to shack it off so I could get ready for work. I was lying there and thinking, “OK, 30 minutes to get ready, I can make it.” Then 20, then 10, then I realized I wasn’t gonna make it, I felt too awful, haahaa.

While in a semi-dream state I was watching the Bonnie Hunt show and they had some woman there with the book, Hungry Girl. They shared 3 recipes which can be found here. I’m trying them out! I got really excited because the pasta recipe calls for these tofu noodles Mike and I have already been using!! Yea, tofu shirataki noodles!! Extreme low in calories & carbs! They taste great too.

I was going to talk about them anyway but this is a great coincidence! They’re about $1.10 a bag at HMart. We’ve been using them in soups mostly~ my cabbage soup & Mike makes ramen.

We bought the original yam shirataki noodle too but haven’t tried them yet.

So I’ve been in pajamas most of the day. I didn’t start feeling better until around 4:00 when I forced myself to change into REAL clothes. I think I needed to just push through the fatigue and “walk it off” in a way. So no matter how I feel tomorrow I’m going into work :dizzy:

I bought some new PJs actually. I was at K-Mart of all random places (I go there like twice a year for seasonal stuff) and they had a really great sale on these cute Joe Boxer pajamas. I love Joe Boxer. They were really popular when I was in High School & I used to buy their underwear because they had that sort of boyish style for girls. These are really soft too~

I got PJ top (below) because it really reminded me of something Rinka would wear,
hahahah

Rinka wears lots of smiley face stuff ね!

I took a really intense sweat bath last night (maybe that didn’t help much with how I felt today! LOL!) using 炎赤の湯 sweat bath. The scent is FANTASTIC and it makes the water glitter & gleam!

I drink hot tea and read magazines to pass the time & keep me in the bath for at least 30 minutes :good:

Can you tell it sparkles!?

As for the cell phone blog, I’ve actually already been doing it for about a week. But given the responses about it I think I’ll still keep it pretty private, maybe. I’m not ready to slap a link up in my blog’s sidebar just yet. Don’t worry, sushi-cat isn’t going ANYWHERE. If you want the link to my Ameblo then feel free to email me at [email protected] for it. If not, that’s OK too~~

I’m not exactly sure what you mean by bath things? The ducks are from World Market & webichi.com sells Japanese bath salts!

  4. Lexxii says:

Pajamas are soo cute. I love the screen printing. And I’ve always wanted a happy face tee like that. I think I may make one eventually. Gotta get transfer paper… Haha :D But they are soo popular in Japan right now.

The bath water is soo pretty and its pink, or red? Very cool. Haha, I’ve never tried any bath salt type things. I should get some next time I’m at the asian market, or Disney. :P

  5. jenn says:

Taking a day off is always good!

And there’s nothing wrong with staying in pajamas all day. I don’t change into my real clothes when I’m at home. I guess I don’t really have any “real” clothes. Once I get home, I change into my PJs!

  10. cin says:

Aww, Jenny~ I’m glad you’re feeling (sort of?) better :( It could be a lot of things that fuck with your immune system… I think you probably needed a day to just lounge around & rest anyway *hug*

Those noodles look really good actually! You can make pasta with them? I’ve been using whole-grain pasta for my recipes, but that sounds way healthier. I’ll see if I can find them somewhere around here~ thank you for sharing the recipes too :)

  23. Lily says:

I hope you’re better tomorrow :) Getting sick is AWFUL.
I’m not that excited about noodles [I eat it a lot being in a Chinese family] but I’d LOVE to try some tofu noodle.

I was wondering though, did you get your bath salts/powders/etc from online or in some Japanese shop? Is it expensive??

  24. Shirley says:

I’ve been signed up for Hungry Girl emails FOREVER but I never read them!! It’s kind of pointless haha. I’ve always wanted to try those noodles though!

OMG that sweat bath looks awesome and it must have felt so good. Drinking tea and reading magazines is the perfect combination to me!

  25. Ys says:

    • jenny says:

I buy mine from a local Japanese bookstore in Rockville, MD. You can buy magazines online from fujisan.com or yesasia.com
