First Edamame Pod!

Tuesday June 23, 2009

e·d·a·m·a·m·e·!

My first pod is forming!! Actually this is the biggest one, there are many very tiny pods too. :doubleheartglitter:

I’m so excited! Soon I’ll have the freshest edamame I’ve ever tasted :food:

I need to type this entry quickly! Yesterday Mike & I started our 4 weeks of strict healthy diet & exercise! No donuts, no ice cream, no (non-diet) soda or drinks! Plus we’ll Taebo or do cardio every other night. We’re doing Tae Bo at 9:30 tonight :mkpoo: I’m really close to my previous weight~ only 8 lbs to go :) and I’ll lose all that fast food weight I gained in college :;_;:

We went grocery shopping and stocked up on tons of fruits & vegetables. He does low carb. It works best for him. Me? I’m cutting out most unnecessary sugars. I picked up snacks like Sugar-Free JELLO and I was SOOO excited because I spotted two new flavors yesterday!

Raspberry Goji and Strawberry acai!

Good, I was getting tired of the other flavors.
So far the Raspberry Goji is tasty! Haven’t tried Strawberry Acai yet.

We’re not eating out at all either which will save on calories AND money. So that I can buy more crap! :dizzy:

This weekend I bought a few more things. I got a black dress on sale. It’s like a Roman-maxi dress look. I like it! So comfortable for summer~ I got it in a big size so it would flow and be cooling :glitz:

I’m making the dumbest face :puup:

I also picked up this Tarte blush from Sephora. Another “whim” purchase.
OMG L O V E I T !
The texture sucks, it’s a bit tacky but the color is so rich and gorgeous it’s worth it! The color is similar to the tube’s color, but opened it looks crazy dark red; it’s not.

I also picked up a few things on sale at Forever21 & H&M :star2:

Basic tank & leggings

Got these tees on sale for $5.00!

Everyone liked the toilet shot so here’s another, LOL!
Actually it’s the only mirror downstairs.
I’m always wearing casual in these pictures,ネ~

Yesterday my iPod Touch did the weirdest thing! I went to pause it and when I tapped it the screen went inverted!! Both inverted colors AND the buttons, text, touching, EVERYTHING was backwards!!! It was like I was staring at the screen from the inside!? I powered it off (which was weird because I had to drag the button backwards) and when it came back on it was normal. I tried to take a photo. Can you see it???!! WEIRD!

:doubledquestion: :doubledquestion: :doubledquestion: :doubledquestion:

I asked this via twitter as well but would a separate blog where I mostly post entries/photos using my cell phone be interesting to anyone? It would be more spur of the moment updates while I was out & about. Or would that just be trivial and yet 1 more thing you’d feel semi-obligated to follow?? Just wondering~~ Haven’t made up my mind yet OoO :doubledquestion: I have an Ameblo that I’ve only been using for poupee snaps but I saw how easy it was updating via phone to it! I can update this blog via cell phone too but it’s way more cumbersome than ameblo~

    hahaha first comment! :D
abotu the blog thing mmm won’t it means more work for yo as well? i’m not fussed raelly~ cuz i’ll just follow you anyway hahaha
and LOl at the ipod touch O_o kinda reminds me of phils friends wii remote that got smased against something nd the pointing hand is permanently upside down and opposite O_o
ooo i beter go get ready now XD

    • cin says:

ohh but its stil gonna be interesting ;)

    • jenny says:

I don’t think so b/c it’s just sending an email from my phone which I do constantly anyway. I can update this blog via my phone too but it’s MUCH harder. I was thinking my ameblo would be more casual. This blog really takes a lot of effort sometimes to update ;(

      Have fun at work Cin!!

      • cin says:

ohh cool! if its ameblo and id definately check it ^_^ b i just need to check ameblo more often but im planning to blog more anyway~

  2. Sumoni says:

Awww, the plant is growing wonderfully. I thought I killed one of my plants and a tiny baby plant grew from it. I was so happy. Good luck with your diet! I couldn’t imagine eating sugar free anything, but I commend you for doing it. I think the real question is would a separate blog be okay for you? I tried maintaining an art, anime, and personal blog many times, & I couldn’t do it. Even back when I was blogging a lot. I either ended up saying things on both blogs or temporarily forgot to update one for a month. If you can handle it more power to ya! I’ll follow it.

    • jenny says:

Yea, I share the same concerns. That’s why I was thinking of updating via cell only, because if I got on my computer for both it would be too much. I think really I’m feeling this blog is becoming less personal/casual and looking for an outlet perhaps?

  3. Lexxii says:

I love the Mickey Mouse tee and long striped tank :) Soo nice!

I was also wondering which size of cher eco bag you have. I’m thinking of getting one but wasn’t sure which size would be better. I was wondering about your opinion. :P

    • jenny says:

I have both the large and medium. I have the small handbags too (furoku ones.) Medium is the most popular. You’d probably prefer that size ;). Sometimes it’s referred to as small. Because there’s only 2 common sizes. But the biggest one is ALWAYS referred to as large, so that should help.

  4. Courtney says:

Home grown stuff is really fulfilling, isn’t it? :D
Good luck on reaching your diet goals!
That’s so weird about your iPod…luckily mine hasn’t done that yet, but it does freeze sometimes for awhile. Don’t know if jailbreaking it has anything to do with that.
The cell phone blog, I think it’d be just another frustrating blog to update, but I try to minimize on that totally. I hate having accounts that overlap each other.

Hope this doesn’t sound creepy or anything, but I’ve kinda been going through a tough time lately, and I really wanted to read something to keep my occupied, (and my current book was too depressing), so I started reading your blog archives from the beginning. I’ve found out we have more in common than I thought. Anyway, just so if you see my IP everywhere–not stalking, promise!! lol

    • jenny says:

Haahaa given my archives go back to 2004 I guess it would be a suitable book substitute!!

I hope your tough times come to an end soon. I think my past entries probably reveal more about me than the archives as of late. Not saying my latest entries aren’t “me” but I went through some real changes in the past and I think my archives reveal that.

I’m touched this little ole blog has helped keep your mind off things. Sorry many of my past images are gone! Haahaa I was h*cked years ago and lost a bunch of photos :X haayhaa

      • Courtney says:

:) Thanks, I appreciate your thoughts! I’ve been feeling better lately.
Hm, I think I can see that a little…at least your blogging style seems to have changed.
Ugh! It sucks you had hacking problems!! Seriously, who would bother hacking a blog…? But yeah, I don’t know, just reading about day to day stuff was kind of reassuring while I was worried how things would work out for me. (You can see more in the password entries on my blog if you’re curious.)
I’m really glad you understand. ^^ And thanks again!

Hello~ (loved this blog a long time but always just stalked…;;;; )

I was curious about cheek stain. How does it compare to normal powder blush? The all natural quality of that cheek stain seems intriguing~

    I admire your willpower to stick to a diet! I always give up so quickly D;

    • jenny says:

Well this cheek stain is different than others I’ve used. Usually cheek stain is liquid. I have some from Avon I like. But the liquid is a bit difficult to get even and nice.

This stuff is almost like chapstick in a big blunt tube! It’s sticky when you first put it on but then you can use your fingertip to smooth it out and blend it in. The stickiness subsides. It also doesn’t stain your fingers like most cheek stain.

It’s completely different from typical powder blush. It’s a bit like the difference between eyeshadow and liquid eyeliner. But I wouldn’t say it’s harder to use.

This particular stain stick I would say is great if you don’t wear base makeup. It’s really nice on its own or worn with just a bit of highlighter on the face already. Not sure how makeup intensive your daily wear is. :P

      • An says:

        Ohhhh I see~
        I always thought that cheek stain would end up looking a bit like you got sunburned really badly on a couple specific spots on your face XD;

I usually wear a bit of concealer and a bit of powder plus eyeliner and mascara. I dunno if that is considered makeup intensive though. I have horrribbllee skin so I always have some foundation/powder/minerals covering up something or another.

I’ve been curious about highlighter as well. I know its like a stable of the gyaru lifestyle but I can’t say I’m knowledgeable about brands or the technique of how to use it. Do you use it regularly?

        • jenny says:

I think extensive would be like a heavy base foundation daily. I always have spots of concealer with a light powder on top to control shine.

The highlighter can be used anywhere really. I use Stila’s All Over Shimmer the most. You can add it to your cheek bones under your powder or you can add it around your eyes to brighten it up. I tend to wear it daily. Either on my cheeks or under my eyes b/c I have dark circles.

  6. Honeydew says:

Your plant look so green and healthy~ I’m sure they’d taste good when it’s ready to eat! =D

    Those two t-shirts are cute!

Hmm….cellphone blog? I guess that could be interesting. Or what you could do is post them here on daily basis and then you can do posts like these weekly? Just a suggestion! =)

  7. angelica says:

i’ve been wanting maxi dresses so badly for the summer. seeing yours makes me wanna buy one hehe~

hope your ipod touch stops acting weird!

  8. Lily says:

good luck on your diet jen!
I don’t really have an opinion on you making a new blog since I only recently started reading this one…I think if it doesn’t take up too much of your time then do it :) I’ll have something more to follow haha :P

  9. Shirley says:

I could never go on a diet! Best of luck to you on that :]
You always make me want to go shopping in your entries, haha.

The seperate blog is an interesting idea. I don’t think it would be a hassle to follow or anything, but my advice is to not get rid of this blog. EVER.

  10. Kim says:

Yay for healthy eating! I definitely gained the freshman fifteen and want to lose all the weight AND more!!! We can do it together :P

I’m a huge fan of non-powdered blush because the blush always gets caked on for me… I think I’ll look into your new buy!

The separate blog thing is interesting, but I think those random updates are kind of the purpose of having a Twitter account.

  11. Zuri says:

Hi!! Thanks for dropping by my site n_n
lol the toilet shot is really original!
my cellphone’s screen flipped once, my friends were saying that it was possessed :P now that I remembered, it happened twice XD

  12. Linda says:

omg :D casual clothes are the love!

  13. Mickii says:

    x) on the bathroom shot, i was like WOAH i never thought you were that tall! and then i glared at it for a few minutes to realise you were on the w.c x) cute ;P ! I want to do gardening too D; but because of a bad experience ( which is discovering capillars on the leaves @_@ ) i’m scare to make something grow ~ == I hope your edamame will taste the best !

  14. Moo-Shu says:

You’re making me want to grow my own edamame plant! lol
It’s good that you’re so devoted to your diet, good luck to both of you! I’ve tried eating healthy but then I have sudden urges to eat the fast food stuff hehe. I think I should try some of that Jello. Those flavors look so yummy, especially the strawberry acai one.

Loving your casual clothes shots in the bathroom hehe! Just wondering where is the best place to shop in DC? I’ll be there at the end of next week… also are there good and unique restaurants that you recommend? The less expensive the better hehe!

    • jenny says:

Shop?? Georgetown. hands down. Has boutiques like Betsey Johnson plus typical trendy stores like Urban Outfitters, Zara, Anthropologie and what not. Plus the restaurants in the area are decent too. But for cheap eats??? I dunno. If you end up in Bethesda I’d recommend the Louisiana Kitchen and bar. It has southern creole food for cheap.

  15. Sumie says:

the micky mouse t-shirt is from h&M?
    that dress is lovely^^

  16. Louise says:

Aw, edamame is so cute and fuzzy. Congrats on almost being able to eat it soon.

I’m a big fan of the Tarte line of blush. I’ve never worn blush before recently (like, within the last year) and Tarte was the first one I owned, so I don’t know how it compares to others, but I really like the color. I have the Blushing Bride color and it’s SO natural once it’s on and it feels like nothing at all. Their 24/7 lip balm (that comes in a chapstick tube) is pretty awesome too.

  17. Jing says:

Wow O_o I had no idea edamame plants grew that fast! LOL, or maybe time just flies. It’s really up to you if you want to make a separate blog or not. I’m sure if you do, most people will follow it. I know I will :)

  18. Thao says:

Wow. That’s a really nice close up picture of the edamame pod, btw. Can totally see all of its fuzzy goodness up close.

Good luck on your dieting goals! The 4 weeks of of strict diet and exercise sounds tough, but I am sure you two can definitely pull it off. It’s nice to have a dieting partner. The whole saving more money thing is a rather nice bonus. Then you can use to buy new clothes after you lose all that weight. =]

  19. Chloe says:

WAAHHH EDAMAME! >3 how many pods are growing out already?! theyre so fresh! i wish i can get a plant so i can have all the edamame i want ahahah xD

anyway good luck with the healthy lifestyle! ^-^ I dont like calling it diet cos technically…diet is what you eat and not losing weight. but anyway since i lost 30+ lbs already…i learned that going low-carb is not a good idea. I tried atkins a few years back, lost 10 lbs then gained it back too easily. and since i had nutrition a couple semesters ago, i learned soooo much. carbohydrates=energy…meaning calories=carbs. they are the main source of energy our body relies on. now i don’t only decrease my calorie intake, but also watch the other stuff too and not go beyond the limit as well *except fiber of course*. i also look out for sodium especially. for the past few months, my blood pressure dropped dramatically and now in normal range. last year i was hypertensive and it was really serious. rocket high! that scared me.

hopefully this step would actually be the stepping stone for a healthy lifestyle for both of you. not only now but forever. ^-^ good luck!

    • Chloe says:

i almost forgot! i would recommend for you to download LoseIt for your ipod touch! it’s my fave app….cos you actually see if you are below your calorie limit or exceeded it and plus you know how much nutrition you are getting. you can also add the exercise and itll decrease it from your calorie intake too! ^^

    • jenny says:

Mike actually does best on just lower carb b/c when he snacks it’s JUST carbs. Last year he did Low Carb for about 8 months. He’d break every 2~3 weeks for a weekend. He lost 60lbs!! When he stopped being so strict he only gained 15lbs back!! He lost his college weight that way. Now he’s just working out a bit with me to help me lose my college weight too. I gained 20lbs the year I moved from dorms (and cafeteria food) into apartment (and fast food.) ;__; I lost 10lbs of it last summer just by switching my diet to more fresh fruits, now I’m out to lose the remaining 10 with some exercise & toning! I don’t do low carb, it makes me extremely sick :( Any sudden change in diet will make me sick, so I have to go about it slowly & healthy. ;)

  20. Ys says:

I’ve been having blog dilemmas too! It must be that time of year ;) I love the idea of a little snapshot-blog. I always wanted one of those photo-blogs but I know I’d never update it after the initial excitement wore off.

Well done on losing the weight, by the way! :D That’s such great news. You’re so good at sticking to your diet :) I think I’ve finally lost my swollen-stomach which appeared over night but I still need to lose the weight I had to lose before lol!

  21. ButterflyHime says:

Last post you said something about boring plastic shoes… do you know melissa.com.br??? They make amazing shoes… now I just wanna use it.

I have this two plastic shoes on pupe:

    I hope you enjoy it!

  22. Nana says:

You inspire me to growww ha ha ha, but I don’t even know what I would make.. I’ve always been saying for so long how I wanted a garden !

You are also sooo lucky your BF is willing to work with you…. all my BF wants is chips T_T…… i’ll be making dinner and come back in my room to find him eating chips LOL…

&& Itouch…. blah -_- once my screen completely FROZE and wouldn’t response to touch….. wat is that?? a touch screen that doesn’t touch?? luckily apple replaced it for me ^ ^

  23. Veronica says:

YAY hairy beans! Edamame is the greatest – I got my aunt hooked on it just this week.

Good luck reaching your goal! We’re doing the 8 bottles of water a day thing, and so far it’s working great. (but the constant bathroom breaks are annoying haha :) )

  24. Tori says:

CONGRATS on the weight loss~!! :) That is so cool that you’re almost at your original weight now! Have you been following the Special K diet or just choosing healthier things to eat? I think cutting restaurant food & soda out of your diet is the biggest change anyone can make because they do add up in your system :( I’m so happy for you though!!

LOVE that dress on you :) & I think i-anythings are prone to acts of random weirdness XD I have a regular iPod that fucks up every now & then too, blah~ lol

    • jenny says:

I’m cutting out excess calories like from chocolates, sweet ice tea, sugary coffee drinks, and YES restaurant’s with their huge portions and bigger desserts!! I was thinking about my weight and I really gained it all at 1 point in time & just never lost it. So I think after I work it off it should be gone for good since my normal diet is already pretty healthy.

  25. susy says:

helloo~~ i’m sure i’ve come across your site many times but i just havent commented… for some reason anyway i really like your site and your entries are so interesting :D :D

the thing that happened with your iphone is weird.. maybe search the internet or go to a phone repair shop if it does it again…. personally i dont like iphones haha.. iif i had one i’d just be scared i’d scratch it or drop it .. i’ve heard that it freezes up alot.. but then maybe thats just the old model??

the blackdress you bought looks gorgeous on you also :) and i love your hair!! haha~

  26. Trish says:

Dude, I love your pictures! Sorry, I\’m in a hurry so the comment won\’t be so long. >3

  27. lyc says:

    omg !!! those tees only $5 …
reallyyy cheapp tho… and I love mickeyy !!!

hmm d black maxi dress looks nice on you … so dun worry about ur height ! it doesnt matter =))

  28. Maikue says:

the black dress reminds me of the tan dress rinka for the alba rosa photoshoot in mexico

when i was in l.a. a year ago, they sold alot of those dresses in boutiques and by beach vendors..

i think a separate blog for twitter-like-photo posts would be interesting..it would be a twitter but for photos..

  29. Lorik says:

YAY for being healthy!! i love it! it’s usually hard the first few days to just eat healthy, but your body gets used to it and starts craving the healthy stuff! thtat’s how I am haha~ I think it’s great you to are doing it together~ good luck~!!
    i love H&M!!!

  30. Stepherz says:

Looks yummy! :) Wish I had a green thumb. I’d love to grow my own food! :)

  31. Megan says:

The pod looks so cute all fuzzy like XD

Reading about your new diet and exercise really inspires me. I love to read about diets and food & exercise etc, I find it a lot easier to relate to a REAL person with a real life (work, social, etc) than to just read what celebrities are doing with their fancy personal trainers -_-

I bet you’ll like the Strawberry Acai jello! I drink Acai juice from V8 and it’s delicious, plus Acai fruits have a lot of good vitamins + anti-oxidants for you. :)

    • Megan says:

Oh btw!! How is that Nivea My Silhouette cream working out for you??

      • jenny says:

Let’s see, I was gonna do a review at the 4th week mark, since they say thats how long it takes to see effects, but so far it does help a little! Tightens skin to make it look smoother and less wiggle! Haahaa.

Yea I don’t get celebrity diets, they have personal trainers and 8 hours a day or more to devote to exercise.

        • Megan says:

Yay I’m glad it works!! I was looking for a cream to help with dimples/cellulite so good to know it makes it smoother~ I’ll have to give it a try :)

  32. mawa says:

cumbersome. lol you’re real cute on vocabulary words haha!

oh i don’t really mind whether you take phone pics on your blog or not, just do whatever is best for you!

also LOL @ inverted itouch! wow that is so strange. maybe you could check the manual to see if you maybe tapped on a button that triggered the inverted’ness? or it must’ve been a glitch?? lol

  33. emm says:

    lol@ipod thing
but u should but an i in front of your pea pod and ..yeah ok i’ll shut up hahahahaa
    nice new purcheases
    love the faded mickey tee

  36. miamy says:

hmmm.. about the blog thingy.. I think I would rather see your updates on sushi-cat.net :P but i’ll follow if you really decide to short blog elsewhere :D

  37. Ruby says:

I’ve been trying to diet as well. Luckily I don’t drink soda & I’m already vegetarian but I’ve cut out all excess amount of cheese, bread, etc. And I am just sticking to basically a raw food diet. -_-

I love the Tarte brush! The one I just recently bought is from Benefit & its a shimmery light pink that looks good on my pale skin.

If you create a separate blog than I would definitely follow it. C:

  38. Riku says:

Omg! That’s awesome. I should have planted edameme too ^^ All our plants are growing slowly. It’s been raining.. TOO much here :(

  39. emm says:

    lol
now i see the kato miliyah resemblance
looking at the 2nd most recent entry on rinkas blog where she and kato go out to play
    yeah they do look similar
    in styles mostly
    she is a copy cat
that’s sad bc she’s not a bad singer

    • jenny says:

      =_________=;

Haaahaaa I like how even in her entry it says they look like twins. But that’s NO accident on Miliyah’s part! I dunno, even if they were to become friends it’s a bit obsessive little sister-ish of Miliyah. It’s one thing to find inspiration, but she copies everything down to the haircut and poses! *creepy-desu!* Hahaha Plus she’s a pop star, she should have SOME shred of personal style. I dunno, I find her to be dis-in-genuine~ a fake and self-absorbed. She just wants to be popular & no one’s style is more followed than Rinka’s atm. I think she could have easily copied anyone else’d style if they were popular enough, it has nothing to do with what she likes, she just wants to be popular.

      *ends rant*

I know A LOT of people like her. I, obviously, don’t. Maybe b/c she’s up in Vivi every month posing and dressing just like Rinka & I’m bitter I don’t get the magazines the REAL RINKA is in! Hhahhahah

But seriously… she had Rinkas hair style & then Rinka cut her hair. Not a month later Miliyah’s hair was cut exactly. I’m sure she took a photo of Rinka to her stylist! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

Man, now that cut is SUPER popular! It’s quickly replacing long cuts! Crazy.
