Just A Lot of THINGS

Saturday July 03, 2010

So my precious Japanese Bookstore is closing. :ng:
Found out yesterday they’ll be shutting their doors the end of this month. :F
Not sure if it’s financial or personal (I think it’s more personal on the owner’s part,) but knowing doesn’t really change things. :madmark:

So my subscriptions will be refunded :;_;: or possibly transferred~ :dizzy:
Because there’s a Japanese market next door called Maruichi that might take over the magazine subscriptions. :;_;: Neither store is REALLY :eep: sure whether or not that will happen though. :stressball:

Thank god I went to pick up PopSister Friday because an hour later the LA distributor of the magazines called me about it! :girlrage: Asking if I was still interested in getting “Popteen” because they’ll send me an invoice and I can pick it up at Maruichi’s…
I’M SO CONFUSE.
LOL. :smallcry:
I’ll just go to the stores again next weekend and see if they have any further information on what’s gonna happen. :kanjicry:

And I like how I fuckin’ jinx’d myself 2 entries ago blabbing on about other Japanese stores closing & praying mine never would or else I’d die… WTF ME! :orooro:

Sigh…

I don’t WANT to go back to buying magazines online~~~ like my college days. :facepalmcry:

It’s really depressing :;_;: …
so I’m not going to think about it anymore………………….. :?:

So yea, I picked up PopSister AND Scawaii. Scawaii had that ballin’ giant ribbon hair tie  as the free gift! Hell yes!!!!! I can’t wait to wear it! Maybe tomorrow for a red, white, and blue :star2: thing or something :grinning:

I got a lot done today too~! :cfaha2: Everything I wanted to do ALL WEEKEND actually! I laid out & tanned, got some take out food, walked a lot downtown, and so on~~

Saw a white squirrel while downtown too! :wakuwakuheart: He lives near the Washington Monument… perhaps he’s attempting to blend into “his surroundings” hence the marble white fur!! :blushingcute: :cfaha2:

Seriously his fur looks exactly like the Washington Monument which he lives RIGHT NEXT TO!

Some outfit snaps. :upheart:
Sorry I haven’t been taking them as much because I leave my camera by my computer and am too lazy to walk across the house and get it while I’m dressing, ha! :?: But here are a few from yesterday & today. :mkpoo:

Speaking of snaps, I wanted to post PopSister street snaps!
From last month’s & this month’s. :!: I like the street snap section because it gives you a good idea of how different “real life” girls are working the trends into their daily wardrobe. :heartheartheart: The magazine spreads are great & all too of course! :kissyfaceheart: But I’m interested in what catches the editor’s/stylist’s eye on the streets too. hehe

Oh! And thank you everyone for your opinion on the backpack! I actually requested it to be ordered through Rina the next morning!! :rainbowtwinkle: HAHAHAHAAA!! :blushingcute:

So it should arrive in a week or 2~ I also snagged an older top I’ve been wanting. Just so I don’t miss out on it. It was part of this coordinate I dreamt up!

The shape and style really remind me of my first backpack I had in Jr. High~~ :ohwhoa:

That’s it~~ I’ve been really busy all week. And now I’m thinking of all the things I must do this month…
I think I’ll be very very busy this month too  :dizzy:

At least it’ll end with a short beach weekend! :wakuwakuheart:

So I might not be around as much this month. Already you can tell because I barely have time to reply to comments in a timely manner.

I could yak on & on about this but really, who ever has time these days anyway? WE CAN ALL EMPATHIZE! :blushingcute:

  2. sidney says:

wow you probably are starting to think i’m totally creepy b/c i comment on your entries so quickly…lol i promise it’s just chance!!!

anyway, D: D: D: at the magazine thing. i HATE it when you seem to jinx yourself…bleh. i feel like it happens to me a lot, so i never mention things like that if i can help it :x

    i also love your snaps

  3. Serena says:

Your outfits are all so cute~ I love your hair.
So sad about the bookstore :( I know what it’s like to experience a fave store closing…hopefully you’ll find another way to get the mags though~

  4. i like your shirt wht the skull on it.

and all these other gal outfits

  5. Zoraida says:

AHH. I hate it when stores that you love close down. It’s so sad D: I hope you get your subscriptions though!? Whatever’s up with that…

    I like your snaps!

So much flowers and stripes on the streets! I love it.

  6. emma says:

yeahhh i srsly LOL’d when i read the squirrel thing
    congrats on the backpack thing
boo on the store closing thing

  7. Kikiyaku says:

Aw your coordinates are cute! ^-^
And I really like the street snaps you posted. I love street snaps. :)

  8. Jelena says:

I love too much the striped skirt and top with the skull, it’s wonderful! It fits you perfectly! where did you buy them? (never know that I found them in France!)
well, that’s when the extensions?! I’m going succomb soon!
    sweet kisses!

  9. Rin says:

That’s annoying they’re closing! The squirrel is super-cute, and I think the backpack you bought is cuter than the new version. New version looks a little cheaper and a little bulky, I think the one you chose is good. The street snaps are usually hired casual models, not very many of them are actually people they’ve happened upon, but their co-ordinates are awesome nevertheless!

    • jenny says:

Ah yea~ I know a lot of them are regular dokusha models and what not. I like Popteen’s best because they do that bottom strip of user submitted blog/message board coordinate photos, haahaa

  10. Kat says:

    Love your coordinate as always!

Yeah, i order my japanese magazines through Kinokuniya New York and it sends to me at home. The only sucky part is that the mail shipping is a KILLER!!! but, i love it!! I would try ordering your magazines there!

  11. Tina says:

I really love the headband/bandana/ribbon (?) in your hair. I keep seeing people using backpacks instead of handbags now, lol. I’m thinking people are striken by nostalgia. Yours is really cute!

I wonder if all those street girls are “real”. The second last, she was sooo cute!

  12. Tori says:

    I’m so sorry to hear about your Japanese bookstore closing… Hopefully the other store will take over the subscriptions & you won’t have to do any confusing switching around ;o;
Your outfits are too adorable as always & YAY for the wc stuffs~! At least that’s something to cheer up about, no? ;D
I also like how you chose snaps that really correspond with each other, haha~ you can see subtle changes in the accessories from month to month but the outfits are generally the same. I see mode cropping up in there too, haha! Street girls are amazing ❤
    Have a happy & safe 4th~!!

    • jenny says:

Totally, in fact it made my day today! LOL

AWWW I appreciate you noticed I sorta posted them in clusters XDDDDDDDD

  13. Sara Mari says:

I’m sorry to hear the store you use for magazines is closing that sucks! Japanese stores are not so common so it’s really sad when they close. I hope you will still be able to get your magazines without having to buy online.

Haha, I love that angry squirrel hanging on the tree!

The W*C shirt in your Friday coordinate is so cool, but I really love the saturday coordinate. It’s so cool and monotone!

Thanks for sharing the street snaps from PopSister, some of the girls are gyaru but most are not too much. PopSisters Shibuhara style is so interesting!

    • jenny says:

Yea I’m always a little surprised in what they choose for the street section. It’ll be interesting to see where it goes~~

  14. cin says:

omg! noo!! not your magazine shop!! :(
i hope the japanese market picks it up!
i hope you have a great month even though you might be busy :)
plus there’s japan to look forward to in august :D

  15. Linda says:

awww, sorry to hear that your store is closing down :,(
i’m sure everything will work out! :D
ps: YAYY for buying the backpack, it is choo kawaiii

  16. Courtney says:

GEEZ, hope your subscriptions get transferred safely!! T_T OH love the giant ribbon, please share a snap with us! :D
Yeah, I like those sections, too! I don’t think models in magazines often get to pick what they wear, so it’s good to see some, yes, real girls working it even without a limitless budget, the best lighting, etc, etc. :)

  17. Veronica says:

Hey we have the same black footie sandals! I’m wearing them :D YAY Shoe twins

that sucks about the magazines – i feel you. My favorite store picked up and moved SO far away, I’d have to take two trains and a bus to get there – 3 hours!!! UGH. BLows. :(

    have a great Fourth!

  18. Grisaille says:

Just started reading your blog and want to let you know how much I love it~ Your outfits were super cute this post.

Sorry about your store closing! I can imagine how much that bites… I drive half an hour to get to my Japanese book store. Without it I’d be lost!

    Have a greek weekend!

  19. parasol says:

looking through the street snaps is just.. so fun. ;__; and i hate when you find out your only source for .. jap merch closes down omg it’s so hard to find another!!

oh and also i was thinking of using rina to order that backpack.. would it be okay to ask around how much the total US price was??

    • jenny says:

Well just a warning the USD is suckin’ it haaaard right now compared to the yen so that’s a immediate increase. I would say it would run you around $120 in total for EVERYTHING ~~ yup. Double the original yen price tag after the multi shipping fees + horrible horrible conversion rate paypal is currently giving (85 cents right now). Rina’s fees are actually pretty low. She breaks it down for you in an email before she orders. It’s the shipping fees, paypal fees & conversion rate that makes it so pricey~~

  20. Barbs says:

Your outfits never fail to be super cute, über süss.

  21. chocoNIKKI says:

Oh! I’m really sorry about your book store closing down…!
Where I live there’s a huge asian population, so there are lots of places with Japanese mags…
Hopefully that place next door will help you carry them! =D
And you look really cute in the outfits! ^^

  22. heartofpearl says:

うそでしょ!im not even a regular fan of my jap mag store but if it closed down id be heartbroken!! i love the ふろくyou got!! the ribbon is too cuute:) i bought zipper thought id try something diff and totally disappointed :( i wish i bought scawaii or popteen or stick to vivi.. ohwel hehe u look perfect as usual!! the black ankle wrap sandles look GREAT!! ♥

    • jenny says:

Awe yea, I like Zipper (b/c I was first into street fashion only) but it is quite the contrast compared to other mags.

  23. Thao says:

Lol @ the squirrel. Yes, I do agree that it shares the same color scheme as the Washington monument. *sigh* I miss being in DC. I just there last week and I loved it.

  24. Shirley says:

I was sad when my bookstore closed down…then I started buying magazines online. They’ve reopened in a different location, but I get them faster if I buy them online!

    • jenny says:

Yea, the only thing I’ll miss is flipping through different issues and that sorta impulse buying and having them in-hand immediately. I used to buy them online so going back to that isn’t out of the question or anything.

  25. Charlene says:

Taiga is closing!?!? D: Where is Maruichi??

  26. Charlene says:

    Oh..Maruichi…LOL I forgot about next door. :p

  27. monica says:

Taiga closing, NOOO!!! I found this place through you, and I’m so sad that it’s closing. How will I get my ViVi mags?!!! Hopefully Maruichi will have some mags…though I seriously doubt it :(

    • jenny says:

Yea Maruichi’s MIGHT take over the magazines, they’re not sure if they want to yet (or so they said when I asked.) Taiga’s last day is July 24th and they had in the new Vivi just fyi.

  28. Tori says:

bb, I also meant to tell you that you look really mode-ish yourself in the Saturday snap! Loving that striped mini! ;D

  29. Genevieve says:

I was SO sad to read your twitter about the bookstore closing :( I did go by there the next day & get like 6 mags lol. I figure those should tide me over for a while! (i typically go like 3-4 times a year)

I love DC squirrels. They’ll eat out of your hand & be your bff! So cute XD

Super cute outfits as usual! ^_^

  30. Twinkle says:

The only bookstores around here stock CanCam, JJ, and the occasional random FRUiTS issue. I’ll subscribe for a year to several different magazines and then I’ll stop because of the crazy shipping costs but boy do I miss them! You’re so lucky to have better options around you. I was dying when I was in San Diego with their myriad selection of Japanese bookstores!

Really enjoying the street snaps (especially all the hair)! I wish more girls looked at them for inspiration since it’s much more approachable to see “real” girls working the looks instead of model spreads (who have stylists, hair/makeup artists, and retouchers).

  31. Ys says:

That squirrel is adorable! Check him out posing for the picture and everything. Too cute :D

    Cute outfits as usual, Jen
