Quick Post About Yukata & Idea

Sunday August 15, 2010

It’s 1am. :mooon: Haven’t been up this late in a long time~ well, not up & doing things. :blushingcute: Maybe lying in bed staring at the wall… haah! :facepalmcry: Mike’s up late trying to finish the last part of Star Ocean and I find it hard to sleep without him so… yeah, I’m up too. :snot:

I had tweeted that NHK World featured a bit of the Shibuya W♥C store in a yukata special talking about their mini yukata style

I like the staffer’s cute bob. I might get my hair chopped like that after my trip :orooro:
I’ve been off again, on again happy with growing mine out. :biglove: But I feel I have no right to bitch about it when I barely doing anything with it on a day-to-day basis! I wear it straight or mix curled and that’s mostly it lately. SO! A CHALLENGE!
I decided to do a different style each day for 1 week! :kissyheart:

I’m on day two today~ :twinkle: It’s kinda fun challenging myself with this. I hate being all moans & groans when I’m not actually TRYING to make it better. :toto: So we’ll see how it goes! If I still feel the same way after a week. Maybe I’ll get it cut BEFORE my trip. But I highly doubt that… :smallcry: It’s more likely I’ll buy a bob wig in Tokyo so I can TEST DRIVE that do before going “all the way.” :rose1: I’ve had short hair before for many years :upheart: but never a long layered bob exactly like the one above, so it’ll be different still. :skull:

Errrrrrrrr, anyway!

I went to see Hubble 3D :twinklepink: today, walked around DC, ate pizza, bought 2 outfits at H&M, cooked gyoza soup, and a few other things. :ureshii: I’ll try to blog about them soon~~

It’s been a stormy week with power cutting on & off daily! :stressedmind: So being on my computer & blogging wasn’t really doable this week :( :stressball:

There are SO MANY TREES GONE from my neighborhood now! :kanjicry: The storms brought heavy rain & 70+mph winds. Tons & tons of damage. We couldn’t even get off our street Thursday. :facecry:

Such a stormy summer for us Mid-Atlantic people (about 60 miles from DC). A tree branch actually fell on my garage roof and made a bit of a hole :O. Hopefully you’ll be safe from any damage like that :(.

Cute idea with the hair! If anyone can do it, it is definitely you Jenny!

    • jenny says:

      That’s so awful but I’m glad you’re OK!! Thankfully I live in a townhouse with no nearby giant trees ;_;

  2. Shirley says:

My boyfriend played Star Ocean for a while haha xD
    Ooh those yukatas are cuteee!!!

  3. jayjayne says:

    Haha – how cute!
    Mini Yukata!

    Adorable!

    :D Love them!
    I can’t believe I didn’t see a W♥C store store when I was in Tokyo!
But, then again, I didn’t get around to going to Shibuya (CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT!)

    Insane!

I just got my hair re-cut into a bob – but that that bob (points to picture) is actually
pretty tough to maintain – all the fluffing and curling to get it to look so pretty everyday!

I wish I had that sort of commitment!

    • jenny says:

Quite true! My last longer bob cut had tons of layers and I was committed to curling them EVERY MORNING or else it would look like I had a mullet! Haahaa! I used to take later trains into work just to have good hair~ I miss those committed days. Now I tend to get on the train WITH wet hair! gaah!

You didn’t go to Shibuya at all? TRAGIC!! Well there’s always next time!

  4. Thao says:

Hmmm….you could try and get a haircut while you’re there in Japan. Although you would definitely have to get a good recommendation from your friend.

California could totally use some of that rainy weather you’re having, considering how this is like the fourth year in a row that we’re in a drought…

    • jenny says:

Quite true! but I love my stylist at home & can communicate with her better since my Japanese is so rough. She keeps Japanese hair style magazines in her salon so she’s always up on the trends which helps!

  5. Jing says:

Wow, the storms sound pretty severe =/ My aunt and her friend are visiting D.C. these couple of days, so it’ll probably suck for them =(

Anyway…Cute Yakata! I really like the shorter version. Are you planning to buy one when you visit Japan?

    • jenny says:

Hopefully they missed the storms that hit this past week =Y

I really WANT to buy this one! But logically I have NO use for a yukata in the states and would basically be a crazy person wasting money if I bought it =Y So I’m restraining myself.

  6. thuy an says:

oh my god, the mini yukata is super adorable!
i would love to own like 23423423+ of them haha.

    bob wigs ftw :3

  7. Zoraida says:

    I am also awake at 1AM! *high-five*

I want a mini Yukataaaaaaaa~ That’s such a great idea especially if it’s too hot/humid for a full one. They’re super cute too! You should try one on when you go to the WC store!!!! O:

I saw those hairstyles on Twitter!! I really really love the last one. It’s so cute!

That storm is insane o_o I don’t think it’s ever been that bad here in Seattle…

    • jenny says:

Haahaa! Let’s see, 1am your time = 4am my time XD I was Zzzzzzzzz *boo*
Yea these constant storms are weird for DC. I feel I’m living in a hurricane zone again!

  8. cin says:

omg the mini yukata plus the shop girl are adorableeeeeeeeee X3
id love to see pics of you with the hairstyles ;) the last one is my fav hehe i have to learn how to do that~

    • jenny says:

AWE~ maybe I’ll send them to ya! I wasn’t really planning on sharing them or anything *might be too hard of a challenge! LOL*
The last one is actually deceptively easy! I’ve worn it before and really liked it but I only did it once b/c I’m so lazy :(

  9. Tina says:

I have a mini-yukata, but that one was bought in a fetish-shop and it’s not as frilly and cute as the one in those shots. It’s more sexy xD

Good luck with your challenge! Are you going to post pictures about it every day or are you going to collect them all and post them on the last day?

    The storms sounds horrible!

    • jenny says:

Haahaa I think I have idea of what your yukata looks like XP
I wasn’t really planning on posting them, but I took photos on Saturday because I went to a museum which I might post. So if I post photos of myself from certain days you’ll see the styles but I wasn’t gonna do any sorta “results” post.

  10. Charlene says:

Aw the yukatas look very adorable! You must invest in one when you go to Japan.

And I hear ya about those storms!! No power outage but the wind and deathly darkness is just super icky — but a guilty pleasure for me. Haha. I had to drive to work in it one day. Not fun! I wonder if we’ll get anything from this hurricane season like a few years back. Hummm….

  11. Veronica says:

Isn’t it amazing how they are like “Hey traditional Japanese culture – let’s make this crazy fun!” I love that attitude. I wish I got NHKWorld on my tv plan!

Your deck! I love it when you post pictures of your deck, it’s so pretty :D

Aww I can’t sleep when Andy isn’t there either :O

    • jenny says:

I didn’t know about NHK World until we got digital cable BUT! BUT! Later I found out it’s broadcasting via digital tuner in my area too! So you can get it for free. Maybe it’s broadcasting in your area too and you just have to do a digital antenna scan?

  12. Tori says:

omg that staff=chan is so cute~!! ♥ But who am I kidding, ALL of the w♥c staff-chan are adorable, haha!
I’m so excited that your trip is literally a week away! SO AMAZING!! D:
I think that hairstyle would look great on you too~ you have just the right kind of face/face shape to carry it off! ♥ I love your little ‘hair plan’ drawings too, haha~ too cute!
Hope you enjoy a relaxing Sunday & that you get some sunshine finally~ it’s shining down here today THANK GOD!! XD

    • jenny says:

Yea really, all those girls have their own amazing style twists!

I think we got your rain from yesterday! HAHAHAHAAAA! But it’s ok, no rain here yesterday :)

  13. Honeydew says:

I admire your will power to try to do something different with your hair everyday. It has been SO HOT that I don’t even want to blow dry my hair. ;_; I can’t wait until fall/winter to come. My hair has never been so oily and ugly before and it’s all because of the heat! D:

    • jenny says:

Awe yea, I still appreciate having moved to a cooler climate though this summer has been unusually hot with its 100+F days ;(

  14. Fatiha says:

wah~ i’m happy you’re challenging yourself with new hairstyles everyday of the week~ it sounds super interesting~ and fun ^_^ another reason to admire the wonderful jenny~! i hope the storms disappear soon!things sound pretty bad… O_O

  15. Courtney says:

I love yukata…I was seriously considering getting one about a year ago but the truth of the matter is I have nowhere to where it. -_-|| Even just wearing at home would be a little strange, I think. The short one with the petticoat is so adorable, though.

    • jenny says:

THIS. EXACTLY. I want it BADLY but I honestly sometimes think there’s an “obsessive” line and I don’t want to cross it for myself. Maybe if I were younger? LOL OR LIVING IN JAPAN!! (that’s the only situation it makes sense) But yea, for me, to even wear at home seems a bit…. much.

  16. Jane says:

I wish I had the patience for a hair challenge. Everyday I just throw it in a pony tail. The most I’ve ever done is give my originally wavy hair a straight perm. But then again as someone who is trying to do wildlife photography as her profession in the near future, hairspray and curls are probably not realistic for me. Hahaha…

Good luck with the hair challenge!

  17. Applesushi says:

I saw your tweet about the mini yukata on twitter and i then turned on the tv and changed to NHK World and i caught the program from the very start! And i’m viewing from the uk, i felt very lucky! ^^
I really like the staffers bob too, so cute!

There seems to be quite strange weather all around the world recently :/ It’s quite cold over here at the moment, ad it’s August! It is supposed to be summer still.

Good luck with your hair challenge!

    • jenny says:

Are you serious!? *is amazed!* I’m glad I tweeted it when I saw a glimpse of WC in the pre-show preview then! Did you watch the interview with the photographer? I really enjoyed that. His outlook & perception on fashion photography, and just life in general, is admirable!

  18. Becky says:

That staffer’s bob cut is cute! I love the way she curls it too. I have a slightly longer bob than her and whenever I try to achieve that slight curl it always ends up to look horribly odd. Plus the weather has been bad so it either ends up frizzy or goes straight in the middle of the day. Oh my hair woes :(

The hair challenge is a great idea! I hate to wake in the morning and try to decide how to do my hair or whatever. I always end up just curling it or keeping it straight. Kinda boring really… Same with outfits. Hate deciding about it in the morning XD

I think wigs are awesome when you want a quick change or having a bad hair day. Too bad I have this odd fear of wig hair otherwise I’d get lots of wigs so I’d have more interesting styles XD But I think a bob cut would look really cute on you! If you’re unsure though I guess just try it out with the wig first. I’m also like you. I’m always changing my mind on whether I want it long or short. Whenever I see gals with their gorgeous long hair I want to grow it and same for seeing girls with cute short hair.

    • jenny says:

Yea, I had something a bit longer this winter but it grew out VERY quickly so I couldn’t do the BIG CURL look for very long. I feel the same way! I need to stop looking at such cute pictures of girls with varying lengths hahahhaha!

  19. Sara Mari says:

I just have regular NHK here in Japan, so I wasn’t able to see this program. In fact, they don’t show that much about gyaru trends or new clothing on TV here TT Well gyaru is still seen negatively….

Anyway, the yukata does look so cute and I think its wonderful it was shown on TV that reaches the world. W*C is becoming such a big brand so quickly XD

    • jenny says:

Yea it’s pretty obvious NHK World has a lot of it’s own programming but the translate some news clips and group them together in topical segments & whatnot.

  20. Linda says:

oh my goshhhh i never knew mini yukata could be so cute! but they areee! :3
ps: your handwriting is so cute&neat by the wayy! :)

  21. Cindy W says:

The mini yukata is so cute! I’d love to rock that.

  22. Cassandra says:

Aaah, I saw that Yukata on the website last week and I still really want it~ You’re right though, unless you attend festivals it’s not really practical for that amount of money v-.- so cute though~! Especially with the petticoat

  23. sidney says:

sometimes i feel like your life mirrors parts of mine in odd ways. maybe that’s why i get so excited when i see you update~ cos you’ll have a similar problem or interest but totally approach it a different way than i would! i mean, this time it’s the hair thing. but i’m just really sick of how damaged my hair is and want to chop it off…grr D: let us know how your hair styling goes!!

(want one of those mini yukata omg)

    • jenny says:

Aw yea~ actually I chopped about 6 inches off last summer due to damage. Damage is so unbelievably frustrating :(. I was running through leave-in conditioner like it were oxygen or something.

  24. Ys says:

It’s been stormy here lately too. It’s been messing with my ‘net and TV. It seems to have calmed down again today. We didn’t get any rain but it felt stormy.

I love your handwriting – very cute. Hehe ;) I can’t wait to see what you decide to do with your hair. I haven’t told anyone yet but I’m thinking of getting mine cut shorter than usual next time I go to the hair-dressers… I just need to pluck up the courage cos I love my long hair. But sometimes you jsut need a change, don’t you? It’s only hair anyway: it grows back doesn’t it? :)

  25. chocoNIKKI says:

Ohhh, i’d love a short wc yukata with petticoat! so cute~~ ^^b Then head off to a night festival or something, (there are a few Asian night festivals where I live, in the summer)

  26. Bianca says:

The staff chan is super cute! I wish the staff in US stores were just as cute >:(

plus, ive been inspired by you to write stuff out too, it helps to stay organized than to wake up in the morning and go “i dont know what the hell I’m doing…”
