Bath Salts Photo Galore

Wednesday October 13, 2010

Okay, sorta new look here! Your eyes bleeding yet? OoO . I’m in a passionate love affair with rounded-rectangles obviously. :rejected: I dunno, I just keep going back to them. :skipping: Anyway. Most of the real changes were behind the scenes. Cleaning up my code a bit. :star: Make things easier on me for the future. What future? HTML 5. Lol. I’m getting a bit ahead of myself. :skull: Anywho~

BATH SALT HAUL!

Finally posting the bath salts I picked up on my trip!

Fair Warning: There’s over 40 photos in this post so if you’re on a mobile device… just warning you :snot:

I think above all else, the clothes :twinkle: the makeup :twinkle: the food :twinkle: , I’m most in love with Japanese bath salts. I’ve always loved bath goods and Japan just has waaay more to offer than the US shelves. :?:

I bought both bath salts & bath bombs. :starburst: A lot I got at Donki and drug stores but by far Loft is the best place to shop for this stuff!! :kissyheart: I bought traditional bath salts just for relaxing, sweat baths, sweet dessert fragrance, and even one for when you’re not feeling well.

I ended up actually having an entire duffel bag full of these bags of bath salts!! :blushingcute:

We were kinda worried they’d be confiscated at customs, it looks kinda weird for 1 person to buy SO much of these… ???

The bath bombs. These take up a lot more space so I tried to limit myself to only characters I knew + loved!

I’ll talk more about all the different ones as I use them. :upheart:
Some of these, especially the sweat bath ones, I’ve used before, but majority of them are new series and I haven’t tried them out yet! So I’m VERY excited! :star:

MOMOERI LOVE BATH!
I had no idea this even existed! It’s heart-shaped :doubleheartbeat: and peach scented of course! :okicon: I only saw it sold at one place :snot:

Bison is my favorite brand of Sweat Bath :eep: type bath salt. I actually bought multiples of each kind. They’re very effective, strongly scented, fun colors and CRACKLE in the water when you first pour it in! Like fireworks :cfaha2:

Metaboo series is pretty popular but I haven’t tried any yet. Sweat bath type mostly :) :biglove:

The back of the packet really sells it

If you haven’t noticed pigs are popular on sweat bath packaging… you know, stop being a pig and sweat off those calories I guess! LOL :piggy: :ruru: :laughingheart: :laughingheart: :laughingheart:

I like this line of germanium sweat bath :rose3:

This sounds like a challenge almost! BRING IT ON! :whoafreak:

I bought a couple of rose salts, rose is one of my favorite scents. The other packages were just boring looking though :)

Sweets bath time with milky matcha, chocolate and honey bath salts!

Mousse bath? I’m intrigued!

Yup, bean!

I’m not sure why the Snuggle Bear wants to take you on a tour of the hot springs in Baden Baden Germany but HE DOES! There’s a whole series of these Spa & Resort salts.

The candy in bath salt form, LOL, DON’T EAT!

Chocolate bar shaped & scented fizzing bath bomb I got at Village Vanguard I got quite a few bath bombs there! Good place for em!

This is actually a bath salt plus waterproof jigsaw puzzle! It floats on water & stays dry :good: :ureshii:

It’s a giant Chupa Chups bath ball!

Remember from Namjatown!? Seriously these guys were everywhere in EVERY FORM!

Think it’s ramen???? Think again! These are ramen noodle shaped sponges with a bath salt inside!

Here are a few shots I sneaked of the bath salts in stores. There are “no camera” signs everywhere so I didn’t get many. There are just SO many types! I even saw that Donki had ones for guys now! They’re very “axe” type packaging showing you that you’ll get girls if you use it, LOL. Mike only showers so I wasn’t successful in getting him to try any.

This is for when you’re body is feeling “old”!!! This packaging was so hilarious! I should have bought it, what’s wrong with me!!

So nearly 50 photos!! Overkill? I say no! Haahaa, I actually didn’t even post EVERY photo/type of bath salt I had taken. :kissyfaceheart:

    Bath salts galore!!!
They sure know how to market these products. They’re so cute~ especially the candy ones and chocolate aromas. Not safe around children definitely!

I love the bison series also for it’s pop rock effect. The collies are great too. My favourite is the rose champagne one.

There’s plenty there to last you for a while :D

  2. Melissy says:

I LOVE YOUR NEW LAYOUT!!! AHHH. ^^ /faints from cuteness overload/
I really wish I had a bath tub at home, we only have a shower. :(
The packaging are SOO ADORABLE. :D
But I guess that applies for all Japanese products~ XD
    Lovely blog post!! :)

    • jenny says:

Thanks so much! Yea most packaging is pretty awesome! I do have some boring ones but they were cheaper & tend to not be as good XD

  3. Hachi says:

    Love the new look!
MERLIN’S BEARD that’s a lot of bath salts!
Henry!? Chocolate Gateaux! I really want to try them but don’t even have access to a bath atm :(

    • jenny says:

Yea so these Henry vacuums are UK apparently? LOL I didn’t really know until I saw the package. I just thought it was like a brand from the 60’s XD

  4. Zoraida says:

I LOVE YOUR NEW LAYOUTTTTT IT’S SO KAWAII DESU NE /shot/

lol putting that aside, these look so fun! you’re going to be having such a blast in your tub!

hahahahahaha that old people one is priceless

    • jenny says:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA your first sentence hits my thoughts DEAD ON! I’m in a love/hate relationship with this layout LOL

  5. Savannah says:

okay you may shoot me, but what do salt baths do?

and do the sweat baths really work? do you really lose weight with them?

    • jenny says:

They just add “additives” to your bath water that are typically colored, scented, and often have moisturizers to soften your skin or some other gimmick. The sweat baths have chili powder like ingredients or a mineral called germanium that is supposed to heat your body up causing you to sweat as your body burns extra calories trying to regular your temperature. Do they work? Yes (unless the brand is shitty) Do you really lose weight? Yes if that weight is water weight. Hot baths do cause you to burn ever-so-slightly more calories than a typical lukewarm bath because your body works harder maintaining temperature control. Will you lose 10 pounds taking sweat baths? NO. You will not, LOL.

      • Marife says:

Thanks for the explanation… here in Spain we dont have the habit to take a bath, not like in Japan that is more frequent and normal :( but ill buy some to try it someday :D

  6. Bianca says:

    HOW DO YOU EVEN CHOOSE?

I love the little piggie ones they are so endearing even if they have a certain message haha!

Plus “Have a kick ass bath time” super LOL!

I always wanted to try the Bison brand but I worry i’ll break out something fierce…I want to take a bath right now!

    • jenny says:

I don’t know, I just stand there staring at them forever tossing random ones into a basket. :P

Yea Bison salts are pretty heavy on the dye and ingredients but I’ve never had a problem. I wouldn’t stay in for longer than 10 or 15 minutes if you have sensitive skin. I think that’s the recommended time to soak in them that they print on the back but I do it longer because I’m a lawsuit waiting to happen.

  7. Hana says:

I love your new layout and this post!!! Okay, I am such a bath junkie so seeing all these bath salts&bombs is making me have a huge urge to go out and buy more (and I don`t even need more right now)!! Next time you are in Japan, you should try the bath milk~ They have some really good ones here (they leave your skin so silky and smooth).

Have you tried the imitation onsen ones?? I love those ones & Bison is my favorite sweat bath salt brand too!!

Great post, I shall be linking it on this week`s weekly wrapup!

    • jenny says:

YES I LOVE THE ONSEN ONES!!! Actually the onsen type were what got me hooked. My local Japanese market carries them so it was all I could (um, can) get so I stocked up on ones I KNOW they won’t carry. They only carry the large tins and boxes, no single packets and nothing trendy like sweat bath or sweets. I asked once if they’d carry the Bison sweat bath ones and they looked at me like I was crazy :(

And thank you for linking me in your lovely weekly wrap! XD

  8. sidney says:

Whenever I’ve seen you’ve made a new layout it makes me want to hire you to make one for myseeeelf! they’re always so cute!! Y u so gud TAT (probably helps that its your job I suppose…)

Also, I am now terribly sad I don’t have a bath…I want to soak!! I want to be able to buy bath salts! Haha

    • jenny says:

THANK YOU THANK YOU. Oh lord, I think because I have to build (IMO pretty boring) sites for my job all my cute needs explode in my own layouts! I’m making this and I’m like “this is just almost too much cute & girly… oh well!”

  9. Erin says:

I’m usually strictly a shower person, so when you used to post about tips for staying in the bath longer, I wouldn’t understand it. I mean, what’s so hard about staying in a bath? But recently I’ve started taking baths when I come home, and I totally get it, haha. I couldn’t do more than an hour, for sure.

    • jenny says:

Hahaha, yea it’s not easy, I dunno if it’s just boring or sitting in water makes you anxious or what but sometimes it’s challenging especially a hot bath!

  10. priincess says:

I’m in love with your new layout! :)

  11. sukipooki says:

Omg all those bath salts look amazing! I need to grab some when I back to Japan too! I’ve only tried two bison bath salts so far but I love them! =)

    Keep up the good work!

    • jenny says:

Most of theirs are about the same and there’s only 1 I’ve tried of theirs and was unimpressed (the Royal Honey one~ The smell was very meh.)

  12. Joey says:

Omg bath salts!! Even just reading about it makes me happy!! ^^
I’ve only used the onsen ones. Have a sweat bath one at home but not sure if it’s too much for my sensitive skin so have been too chicken to use. Lol. Does it burn your skin?
Hmm.. Can’t wait to hear the reviews when you start using them!! *excited*

    • jenny says:

I’ve never felt it “burning my skin” but I don’t have too sensitive of skin though sometimes certain bubble bath liquid brands will make me feel itchy. I’ve only ever had 1 bath salt make me feel itchy and it was this chinese herb one.

  13. M says:

    japanese products always amaze me..
    lol!~ who knew..

  14. Linda says:

    ahhh~ i love your new layout :D
&WOWWWWWW! so many bath salts! i want to try them all! :)

  15. Betty says:

I envy you! . I didn’t mind the photo overkill. I was just drooling over this post. The grandma cheerleader. lol. Japanese’s marketing is hilarious sometimes.

    • jenny says:

Oh good I’m glad XD! Sometimes people post and say “sorry for so many photos” but it’s only like 5 photos and it makes me think I must be REALLY annoying with my entries of at least 10 or more!

  16. Thao says:

Haha, you have just about enough to have your own ministore in your bathroom. I didn’t realize just how many different types of bath salt there could possibly be!!

    • jenny says:

Me neither! They’ve really expanded the “types” in the last 2 years! Last time I was there “sweat baths” were just getting started and Bison only had their original 2 out!

  17. winn says:

    rilakkumaaa!! *jealous!*
my little cat keeps on going into our bath to drink the water D:
not hard to clean but annoying when he’s been stepping in dirt! wth!

    • jenny says:

Haahaa those darn kittehs! My sister used to have a cat obsessed with taking baths. You’d have to be certain you locked her out of the bathroom or she’d end up in the bathtub with you =_=;; It’s cute but got old FAST!

      • winn says:

LOL … even if the water was HOT? COOKED KITTY! XD
WAHAHAHA I’ve been giving my cat SHOWERS every now and then, he hates it!
I don’t get what’s so special about the bath? maybe he wants to try swimming?
(will end up drowning imo, he’s not too sharp like my old wise cat)

  18. Tasja says:

Woooooooooooooow that is such an amazing haul *__*
But omg those bathsalt packages are SO much fun xD C

And you changed your layout? Looks good ^^!

  19. Ada says:

    OHWOWW I’M SO JEALOUS!!
it looks like you moved the whole bath salt section back to the states with you LOL
I wonder what the cashier’s expression was like when they saw your basket XD
oh gosh. i miss shopping at donki jote so soo much U_U

PS. i’m loving the pink polka dots

    • jenny says:

All the cashiers were QUITE HAPPY seeing how much I was spending, hahahaa! Honestly I don’t even have room to store these anywhere. I put what I could on my bathroom shelf and the rest are in a Victoria’s Secret shopping bag LOL

  20. Miruku says:

Haha, you got so many! They are cheap though, I think they’re good value for money. I love Bison but am always eager to try new brands. Please post reviews as you use them!

    • jenny says:

Will do! Right, Bison is great, hands down, but new brands might have a better scent or be more effective, ya never know! So trying new ones has that extra excitement!

  21. Tori says:

    GLORIOUS HAUL, lol~~!! ♥
I hope you’ll get to try all of them, haha! I take it they don’t ever expire, right? ;D
Love the new layout too, Chinatsu + choco ftw ♥

  22. Jelena says:

cute new lay + i want a milk chocolate bath fizz!!! xD

  23. Sara Mari says:

Yay pink and purple layout, who wouldn’t super love that! XD

I am not a big bath taker, really only do it in Japan during the winter months since I have a tiny old house with a tiny tub here in America. Anyway, those ones that are sweets themed…those are the best! Maybe I am too obsessed with sweets when I want my bath water to smell like them? haha!

    • jenny says:

I’m really excited to see how these dessert ones smell! Usually the scents are pretty on the ball, like some “wine” ones I got smelled EXACTLY like red wine! Not sure I WANTED to smell like that but pretending to bath in wine is pretty… ballin’ XD

  24. Honeydew says:

So many balth salts! I have yet to try them one day. Do they actually stain your bath tub?

    • jenny says:

I haven’t had an issue with stains and my tub’s a pristine white. Though I do scrub it like once a month just to keep soap scum away :)

  25. Thanh Thao says:

Oh Jenny, I can’t say how jealous I am, I am such a bath junkie!! I could spend hours in my bath tub, hahaha. Maybe the snuggle bear wants to show the users Baden Baden cause theres a verb in German called “baden” which actually means to take a bath. XDDDD Baden Baden is of course the city name, but when young children shout “Baden, Baden” here, it atually means lets take a bath, let’s take a bath!

I think you have bought a year’s amount of bath salts, it must have cosot you a whole fortune! Enjoy the time in the bath tub!

  26. JL says:

I wish I had time to take baths- they’re soo enjoyable. Maybe if I study for the SAT while I’m in, my mom won’t complain about water wastage. Hahaha!

    • jenny says:

Haha! I actually study stuff for work in the tub! I seem to focus better, I dunno XD Probably because there’s no computer to distract me!

  27. Jeannien says:

Your new layout is so pretty~ makes me want to change mine but I’m so slow with wordpress x.x
Anyway, did you like bought the whole store? LOL so many!
and lol at the Snuggle Bear~ he’s cute but at the same time he looks like a pedo! “heeeeeeeeeeey come take a bath ;D”

    • jenny says:

Thank you so much! Yea seriously Snuggle Bear gives me the willies but he’s HUGE popular right now there :X My friend has a cell charm with him and I told her he creeps me out LOL

  28. Shirley says:

I want to take a bath now. haha xD
I would buy doubles so I wouldn’t have to open the package!

  29. Rachel says:

Nice layout! Have you tried using CSS3 yet? You’re able to use rounded corners, drop shadows (bleh), etc. But HTML5 is fun and much cleaner to use. OK, enough code talk…hahaha..

That is a ton of bath stuff! There’s a Japanese market where I live where they sell some but I have yet to try it. Only because the bathtub where I live is mehhhh. How are the sweat baths? I’m tempted in trying those out and sweating it out!

    • jenny says:

Yea I’ve started using some CSS3 stuff at work and experiment a little on my blog with it too. Biggest issue is waiting for the browsers to catch up and start supporting all the new stuff =Y and of course IE will be, again, the worst supporter LOL

The sweat baths are usually pretty great! I have gotten some in the past that just don’t work but I didn’t rebuy any of those this trip. They really do make a difference.

  30. chiihime says:

OMG you have a lot of bath salts to try! Please post after trying the ones your love most! ^^ I tried to imagine how them smell xD

  31. Kim-Mari says:

OMG Incredible haul! I love Bison ones, they’re amazing. Are there a couple of new varieties out? (I hadn’t seen the two on the left bottom row of the Bison pic!)

I bet you’ll have “Kick Ass Bath Times” with these LOL. That packaging is win.

  32. Jenny, you are crazy haha! That’s not a small amount bath salt. Your new layout is suuuupercuuute, btw. I’m pretty much in love with it. ♥_♥

  33. Genevieve says:

WOW! Lots of bath salts! I’m jealous you even have a bath tub! I dream that one day I will! lol

  34. Leanne says:

I love the new layout! So pink, so girly! You know for the sweat baths, would you say that when you sweat it’s just the water weight you’ve retained? Do you see a difference? At the moment I’m retaining so much water weight probably because I drink so much water before bed :S I need to find an effective way to get rid of it!

    • jenny says:

I see a difference specifically in water weight. When I do sweat baths + leg massage I’m never bloated and my skin is nice and tight & firm. When I don’t do them for a while I definitely get puffy. However drinking water helps reduce bloating in reality as long as you’re drinking enough of it! I actually drink a full glass while I’m in a sweat bath.

  35. anemone says:

WOOOW. all your bath salts look amazing.. to be honest, i don’t fully get what they do ’cause my bathtub’s plug is broken so i can’t take a bath anyways LOL OTL. buuut all your photos make me really want to try them ;___; !

  36. helen says:

    i really love the new layout (;
    my favorite colours ^^
anyways, wow, you bought so many cool things!
    soo many sweat bath salts!
i don’t understand how you use them though.
    can you help me?
my sister gave me one, the instructions are in japanese but i don’t know how to read it lol.
do you use reg. temp water, or do you have to use hot water?
and how long do you stay in the water?
please help, and thank you ^^

    • jenny says:

Well it depends on the brand because some suggest different soaking times but in reality all you need to do is run a hot bath, hot but not so hot that you can’t bare it, just whatever is comfortable for you, then add the salt in and soak for at least 15 minutes if not 30 or longer :)

  37. Julia says:

These are awesome… I am so jealous!!! Bath salt are so expensive where I live~

  38. Mel Genki-Kat says:

Ooooh so can’t wait to get back to Japan next year. Your photos are killing me! ^_^

  39. heather says:

    omg. envy….
I’ve always wanted to try sweat salts.. i guess ill just have to try to order some now :3
also, that elderly cheerleader bath salt, wow.. i would have bought them out !

    also. extra adorable layout.

  40. Nana says:

Wow!! You bought a lot of bath salt!!!! I have never used bath bomb before but not bath salt. I am wondering what it is!!! It must be good since you bought this many!! I was reading your blog on my iphone and it crashed!! LOL* I am using desktop now!! :) I love it when you have many pictures tho’

    Love Nana

    • jenny says:

It’s like a fizzling round ball of bath salt that released color & scent as it melts away :)

LOL, nice! I’m crashing smart phones XDDD

  41. Sah says:

Oh, there are a lot of bath salt! HAHA It all looks so lovely, and the Rilakkuma one is so freaking awesome! (*_*) Kisses.

  42. Mike says:

.o. I’d like to try bath salt too~
I just wanted to tell you that the cats (on the bath salt packaging) were from a new video game on PSP.
Well, I’m not sure, but I was in Okinawa last summer and I saw these funny guys in Tsutaya!

    Ah! I’m loving your blog! Your photos are great, just looking at them make me remember that tingly feeling when I was there ;_;

    • jenny says:

Yea they’re from Monster Hunter! They got their own game now though & I hope it’s released in the US AND on the DS (since I don’t own a psp!) I blogged about them a bit before ;)

  43. Sami says:

    Love the new layout :D

Such a CRAZY amount of bath salts :O :O
But omg, do want the Henry Hoover bath bomb, but does it smell like hoovers? lol

Imagine if the Purin mousse bath just made the bath water to puri, om nom!

  44. Courtney says:

Great haul!! I love the characters and OMG the PUZZLE?! Plus Little Twin Stars salts…I’m so jealous ;)
Please do show us some snaps when you use these! I’m so curious about some of the more exotic ones. :) Also can I just say I find it hilarious that the packaging for sweat baths always shows some character with such a pained face hahaha!!
ALSO I HOPE YOUR BATH IS AS KICK-ASS AS ADVERTISED! God, I lol’d!!!

    • jenny says:

Haahaa at least you know what to expect with the packaging, sweat baths can be really stressful XDDD gotta endure them!

    So Many of them!!! O_O

    • jenny says:

I’ve always loved taking baths so I naturally love these! I’d say you should try them some day but I know sometimes people just prefer showers so I get that :P

  46. Shel says:

I am really loving the japan posts.
did you end up going to tokyo disney?
    I’ve heard its insane!

  47. Ys says:

Wow that duffel bag of treasure is something to be proud of ;)

I of course adore the pig ones more of all ;) I love the idea of the map that floats on the surface; that’s hilarious. And what’s with the Henry the Hoover??? That’s fab!

  48. rene says:

OMGG! That is a lot of bath salts!! How much did you spend on all these?
I don’t have a bath tub at home, so I can’t imagine I’ll ever buy so much of these!

But guess what? I came home today from my bf’s place over the weekend, and I saw a bathtub right in the middle of the living room! My dad gonna get one fix!

  49. Deso says:

I love taking baths, but I mostly do it with just bubbles. But that gigantic amount of bath salt pics you posted makes me want to try those salts!!! Next time I’m by my local japanese store I will definitly get me one of those! :)

    • jenny says:

Awe yeah! Just buy one to try it out! There are so many and even the hot springs or mountain themed ones smell so fantastic~~!

  50. Joanna says:

I just visited your blog today and I saw this post…

    Oh my gaaahhh… XD

You shopped a lot of bath salts!
    Hahaha! =D

Wow, Japanese products look really extraordinary. =D
