Candy Colored Things

Jun 17, 2011

Dolly Wink No.03 Blue Orange “Country Retro” shadow at work today. Casual Friday :) Also been wearing Majolica Majorca Puff de Cheek in Apricot Macaron a lot lately. Probably the past month and 1/2! :celebrate: I keep meaning to blog about it. I’ll do that soon! I love it~~ It’s a nice subtle but build-able orange blush.

Been so busy. :deco13:
Got out a little tonight. Went to Target then DSW shoe store where I tried on these super candy-colored wedges!

Not very expensive and comfy to walk in. But I didn’t get them. :ok: They sorta felt… “in a previous life” to me. These shoes would have been SENT FROM HEAVEN for my college-self. But they don’t really fit into my current wardrobe life. :?: Too sugary for me now. So I admire their candy sweet cuteness but I know I wouldn’t get much wear out of them these days. So I just enjoyed trying on some shoes and didn’t buy anything new. (yay for saving $$)! :deco8:

Ugh, there are these Steve Maddens I tried on LAST weekend. I like them a lot but I wish I had found them before I bought my OTHER BLACK WEDGES! I can’t justify buying them because they are just too similar. Ugggggggh. I hate that feeling. WHY COULDN’T I HAVE SEEN THESE WEDGES FIRST! Oh well. I didn’t take a snap but they sorta looked like these.

I’m tired, going to bed now~~
:deco16: Hope to catch up on some “internet’ing” this weekend & scan in some Used Mix inspo :deco10:

those shoes are so cute!! But I don’t have anything that goes with them. :(

    • jenny says:

      This exactly ^^
I thought about it and really there wouldn’t be too many outfits I could imagine building around them, personally. Just for myself now. I used to have cuter things a few years ago that would match but not now :P

      • Hannah says:

Now that I am older I feel that I have to dress my age or I get confused as a child.

        :(

        • jenny says:

THIS HAPPENS TO ME! Well it did a lot last year, year before~ I suppose my change in fashion tastes since last year have sorta prevented that from happening lately. I know people all the time say, “oh that’s lucky to look younger,” or “it doesn’t matter, age.” Which IS true, but I don’t like people thinking I’m 10 years younger than I really am these days. It used to not matter to me. And hey, if it doesn’t bother you then there’s nothing to worry about. It just all depends on how you feel about it ;)

  2. Leslie says:

I want to try that Dolly Wink eyeshadow palette soo much! I love the Puff de Cheek Apricot Macaron too :) it weirdly took a while for it to grow on me but it’s sooo nice and it looks great on you. Those candy-like wedges are cute as well and although they’re super loud they can kind of be a statement piece in your wardrobe? Haha

    • jenny says:

Haahaa they definitely would be a statement! But it’s not a statement I want for myself these days.

I don’t really care to be the overly cute omglookather girl anymore. I’ve grown about out of that stage in my life, personally :) But when I do see things like this it feels sorta nostalgic. If that makes sense.

  3. Amy says:

Omfg, those Majolica Majorca puff blushes are irresistible. I’ve been wanting to order the peach one. Orange blushes scares me a little, I’m not really sure what kind of reaction I’ll get from them. (Orange toned lipsticks as well.)

I need motivation to sleep early again. Sometimes I can barely stay awake in my lectures. T nT Hope you’ll regain your energy this weekend!

    • jenny says:

Orange is definitely a… hmmm… DIFFERENT color to wear IMO. It’s quite out of the norm and of course not for if you like “all natural” looks. But if you like a little fun color it’s great! I love it for summer. I started trying out orange blush for summer last year I think, maybe even year before. I really really love this sorta look right now —-

      xDDDDDDD

  4. Yi Lin says:

Love how cute the Majolica Majorca blush container looks. :D Don’t dare to try an orange blush, maybe an orange blush with hints of pink/red would do quite well for an asian skintone? :)

    • jenny says:

Yeah I dunno :X I just try whatever color. I have a pinkish, orange, peach blush from Shu Uemura but it’s much more subtle. My skintone is like pinkish yellow and a total biotch to match to heavy foundation colors etc. I stick to Missha BB Cream because it’s the only thing that matches well on me besides “transparent” colors. TL;DR hahahaa

  5. rain says:

i just love the tee that you’re wearing!! :) and boy you sure have a lot of awards hanging on your wall at work XD

  6. chenyee123 says:

    Hello ;’D
Ah the eye make up and the cheeks looked really cute together, perfect match ~

  7. Chanel says:

    OMIGOSH !
    I love your eye shadow ! & your blush ! Apricot/Orange-y blush is the best ! :3
I love your shoes too by the way !

    -Chanel

  8. Sidney says:

your makeup looks really pretty in that shot! always impressed with your ability to wear colours~ ^^

also, good job at not buying the shoes :b i do that, sometimes. see things i know younger me would’ve LOVED but if i bought it now it would just rot in my closet…

    • jenny says:

Colors are scary *nods, nods* here I just followed “Tsubasa’s Recommendation!”

Yeah, it’s sorta nostalgic to see stuff your old self would like. I feel the same when I see like some rare Hello Kitty item that’s actually cute. I loved Hello Kitty in college WHEN IT WAS SO HARD TO FIND but I sorta grew past it and now she’s freaking EVERYWHERE in the US! *not fair

  9. Mika says:

I own the same blush from Majolica Majorca, too! c: I get complements for it being quite subtle to use, that’s simply a healthy glow. Majolica Majorca’s the best. I want to try Dolly Wink products, but they’re so pricey. Boo. *0*

    • jenny says:

Ah yeah! It can definitely be worn subtly! I tend to like the color to POP so I pack on a few extra sweeps!

Dolly Wink is about the same price as Majolica though, though to buy both brands adds up FAST. Definitely they are on the higher price range for drugstore brands.

  10. Chococcuro says:

Oo I’ve been really wanting to try the Dolly Wink eye shadow! It looks great on you! I know what you mean about finding things that would have been great for a ‘former life’ haha. I miss college days when I was wearing things exactly like this…

  11. Kim-Mari says:

    Looking at those shoes….

Growing up in fashion is such an interesting thing… I mean I looked at those shoes and instantly thought “OMG LOVELY” then reality kicks in and its like actually not really, I mean cute but whatever… not really wearable, ne… Totally not grown up style… heheh

I haven’t kept a reg blog so its harder for me to track, but really you so start to grow when it comes to personal style and develop your own theme, and I love the way you’re going – looking so mode – Love it!

    • jenny says:

Yeah that was my reaction! LOVE THEM, GOTTA TRY THEM ON! Then lulz I wish I could ship these to my past self to enjoy hahahaa! They’re cute but didn’t really feel “me” anymore.

I wish I had more photos pre-blog so I could indulge in laughing at my even earlier fashion choices xDD.

  12. lissy says:

    everything is so colourful!!!
    especially you shoes :D

  13. Thanh Thao says:

I also used to like a lot of colourful clothing but now I’m into more casual colours XDD They are much more easy to combine :-)

    Pretty foto! Love your make-up!

  14. Alisa says:

The eyeshadow looks so nice and colourful. I will get it too!!

  15. mei says:

the wedges is really cute !!! :D

  16. Eliz says:

Love love these wedges!* I saw a similar pair at a Winners in Vancouver! Candy cute adorable is the perfect description :)

  17. Veronica says:

    Yaaay cheek twins *love*

Those shoes are so charming, like Irregular Choice, haha

I keep going back and forth between getting decked out in crazy colorful things or totally colorless with little pops like orange or red. Then I see some wacky spread in a magazine and I’m like “OOOOH DO THAT” lol

  18. kamille says:

I know what you mean! seeing items that you would normally go gaga for :) but it doesn’t match current closet xD haha. I like the Majolica blush. I bought a mac peach blush, very very buildable too!

  19. Tiffany says:

I love your blush! Just the name of it is adorable :3
And those shoes are so cute and vibrant!

  20. My Linh says:

Those wedges are nice. I know that feeling, you buy something and then you see something that you would have liked much better… It really sucks… :(

Anyways, your makeup looks really nice. I like it more subtle. :) I like the eyeshadow, I think I will get it, too! Candy colors~

  21. Sara Mari says:

That Candydoll eyeshadow palette is so nice, it really makes beautiful resort-kei looks too! I think those shoes are really cute (argh, I miss DSW and being able to buy shoes so much now TT) I think they could suit you even now, just wearing them with a solid color simple dress would work well ^^/

Steve Madden wedges….ah sounds like heaven XDD

    • jenny says:

I hardly ever go to DSW but I should start going again. For a while they didn’t have any trendy shoes, just boring boring but they’re getting in a ton of good brands again thank god!

  22. Ria says:

Awww bummer. I see stuff a lot that previous goth, nerd girl or gyaru me would have loved but current me just wouldn’t wear. I can appreciate it but I just can’t buy it. My bf misses nerd girl me haha, he’s always buying me things I just don’t get use out of.

  23. I’ve been meaning to try Majolica Majorca’s Puff de Cheek…glad you like it~~orange is hard to pull off!! n_n I’m going to Hong Kong in Sept and will probably get it then…going to stock up on so much cosmetics~~!

  24. elizabeth says:

OMONA you got the dolly wink eyeshadow! :( jealousssss.

  25. Miya says:

are you talking about the steve madden wedges that Rumi from fashion toast just posted about? fashion bloggers unite! I find it so interesting how your style has evolved. that is how it should be!

  26. The shoes are cute none of the less and I know you would have been able to pull them off! :)

    • jenny says:

Oh yeah, I know I could wear them & coordinate with them, but they just didn’t feel very “me” anymore. More like “old me” style.

  27. Tori says:

Jennyyy~ you can never have enough black wedges, girl~~!! XDvv

  28. Betty says:

I love casual Fridays! It’s when I get to wear my *style* without feeling worried about it. I’ve been wondering about those MJ blushes. Pls do a review on them soon? ^-^

  29. mommo says:

aaww those are nice! you bought Bunny days tsubasa’s album yet? :D

  30. Thuy An says:

Digging that orange eyeshadow on you! I can’t wear eyeshadow without looking ridiculously funny because of my single eyelids. As weird as that sounds lol.

Those Steve Madden shoes are so chic! It’s so much easier to wear higher wedges, much more comfortable than heels imo~

  31. Huynh says:

The wedges are so cute. But it doesn’t really go with anything i got in my closet. If I brought those shoes, I probably wear once or twice.

  32. Rubi says:

I still like your other wedges more!!
And i actually tried on those jellypop wedges but in cream :O
DSW always sends me coupons, so I’m always in there! xD
    & I love your makeup!

  33. Serena says:

    Those are seriously cute shoes

  34. Janet says:

That DollyWink set reminds me of CoverGirl’s EyeShadow Set in Tropical Fusion…although DW is probably better. Puff de Cheek, I’ll have to try that out sometime, kyooot container :D

  35. Becky says:

I have the same Dolly Wink palette & I absolutely LOVE how pigmented the colours are. Really high quality shadows! And the colours are perfect for summer! Looks great on your Jenny :)

  36. cin says:

    Need that blush~~~

  37. Ys says:

You’re so good for not buying the shoes. I’m awful with shoes, I can always find a reason to buy a pair ;)

  38. Courtney says:

Cute! Yeah even in the time I’ve been reading this blog I can see definite changes in your warddrobe from more colorful to more adult
