Summer Time Bath Items

A lot of people look at me strangely when they hear I take baths even in summer. I understand that I suppose. It’s hot out, what about soaking in a hot bath sounds pleasant?! Well there ARE salts & more specifically useful in the summer months!!

First let’s address a common summer situation, SUNBURN! I got sunburned at the beach a some weekends ago. And taking a shower, let alone a bath, is a bit torturous.

A few summers ago I started using Aveeno’s Soothing Bath Treatment. It’s packaged like a typical bath salt only instead of a mineral type it’s oatmeal! It’s an ultra fine powdery oatmeal mix. Just slowly add it into the running warm (not hot, your skin is irritated already,) water. It doesn’t mix super well on its own so there will be a few clumps you’ll need to break up in the water by hand. It’s ultra moisturizing and soothes irritated skin.

Also recommended for those with sensitive skin! So if you can’t use the typical bath additives, Aveeno’s might be a good choice! You’ll need to quick rinse the tub when you’re done. The oatmeal leaves behind a thin mud-like residue. If you don’t rinse it it’ll just dry back into a powder blah blah

As for Japanese summer-time bath salts, many “cooling salts” are released for summer! These usually have a mint theme or something similar and leave your skin feeling cool, refreshed, and minty! Some are more intense than others. I have some “super mint” salt from バスロマン called スーパークール! (in the above photo.) It’s peppermint scented and leaves me feeling super icy! I used to use it after lying out in the sun

I’ve used two cooling types from バスロマン brand. The other “クールタイプ” isn’t as intense and has a orange scent!

Another summer cooling salt I highly recommend is from アース製薬 one of my favorite bath salt brands. They focus on “onsen” related salts as a theme. They have a “cool” type known as 凉湯めぐり or “cooling hot spring tour!” For tiny packets they’re extremely potent. One of the best cooling types in my opinion.

One type that just came out earlier this summer I would LOVE to try is a brand new Bison brand of cooling & firming bath salt! The green “citrus mint” version has 7 out of 7 stars on cosme.net! The other scent is “extra mint.”

Unfortunately the only cooling items I could find currently on sale online is the body wash from the first photo. It has a great yuzu scent and cooling effect! Plus can be used in the shower of course! Nagomi refreshing yuzu body wash

Of course you can find the Aveeno soothing skin in US stores though! And they’re great in winter too for wind burned and dry skin.
