What I’ve been Up To

Saturday November 26, 2011

Not much aside from the multi-stage cold I have. :deco13: I had to run out to the pharmacy today for more medicine. I’ve already gone through what I picked up last week. But I know I’m not alone. :!?:  The sneezing and coughing in my office alone tells me that. Thank you everyone for the well wishes. I’ll try to get to responding to the week-old questions and comments people have left so sorry if I’ve missed it. :deco13:

I had a good Thanksgiving though. :deco10: I felt well enough at the time to bake the pumpkin pie and eat some dinner. We marathon’d season one of Game of Thrones. Also watched Bridesmaids finally. I was excited to see Chris O’Dowd from The IT Crowd as the love interest! :deco12:

Anyway, I’m still not feeling quite myself but what have I been up to~~
This new medicine, for my now chest cold, doesn’t make me drowsy like the others. So I’m awake and restless. Figured I’d finally blog!

While at the Pharmacy I picked up these acne patches since I have a pretty bad cyst on my chin now from not being able to maintain my normal skincare regimen while being sick. I’ve used one before on a cystic spot on my chin and it definitely helped speed up the process of healing. But I think they’re being discontinued now since it was on clearance at 50% off?? Or maybe it’s just some weird Black Friday like sale on acne remedies, hahaha!

Speaking of Black Friday. Another thing I was doing this past week was watching QVC. I ordered a Clarisonic. It was a Mia2 bundle on a one-day only Black Friday price. Of course the throbbing zit on my chin helped encourage the purchase. I’ve wanted one for a while. I’m excited and nervous. :deco13: Should come in this week :ok:

I did make it out for some Black Friday shopping. Not waiting in lines or anything insane though. :ok: It was actually the first time I had been out of the house (not including 2 days of work) in over a week. Madewell was the best turn out! There was a skirt there I had been wanting for weeks. I was hoping it was on sale finally. We got there at 7am and not only was the skirt already 50%… they had a “before 10am sale” where you got an extra 50% off the sale price! I grabbed it and two flannel blouses also double discounted.

Oversized cardigan and plaid scarf/wrap from H&M

New peacot from H&M too

This month’s magazines from Fujisan.com. They shipped my Sweet issue via FEDEX!! I was super happy to see that!

This new issue of Used Mix is excellent. It’s one of the bests in a while.

A small package I got in the mail from a friend. Tote bag and catalogs from Image, DURAS, and Peach John. Plus some cute socks! Image has Rinka on it :)

Well it’s been an hour. Time to take my acne patch off. Hope my zit has shrunk! :deco6:

oh my god!! he’s from the IT crowd ;__; no wonder…
you’re so lucky that there’s a madewell near you

  2. Theda Bara says:

Glad to hear you’re feeling better! And I will need to keep a lookout for those acne patches. I get very bad nodular acne around my jaw and nose bridge, and the only thing that helped where the Kobayashi acne patches, but the Mitsuwa near my house stopped carrying them-

The socks are not only adorable, but very comfy lookin’!

    • jenny says:

Oh hmmm I wonder how similar they are!? Well I took mine off. The swelling is nearly 100% gone and so is the sore feeling. I’m going to do another tomorrow. They recommend doing multiple for cystic acne after 6 hours or longer. :)

  3. Tasja says:

Oeh those patches seem really interesting.. wanna try out :)

I’ve been eyeing that coat from h&m too.. just dunnow.. because it is not slim in the waist I keep hesitating.
I’m curious for an outfit post though with that coat.

Looks like you feel a bit better, but nevertheless get well soon!

    • jenny says:

Yeah this coat has more of a classic cut and isn’t necessarily fitted. It hits at the waist too. I know what you’re looking for. The peacoat I’m replacing with this one had a much more feminine cut but it’s quite worn now. I was wanting something more casual and short this time around.

  4. Jenny says:

Woo! Awesome stuff :D Congrats on your loots :D

  5. Atsuko-chii says:

Glad to hear that you are feeling well!

  6. Mintie says:

I would like to ask you something, the red coat you got from H&M, how do you feel about it? I’ve tried it on several times in stores but it felt somewhat orangey rather than red.

It’s on sale in Germany at the moment for 20 euro. I’m still arguing with myself whether I should buy it.

I hope you feel better soon.

I have the same scarf from H&M!! I really love the color combination for it, but I have too many plaid scarves.

  8. Sewon says:

Eep, I’m sorry to hear you’ve been so sick! :( But I’m glad you still got to eat some pie and catch the black friday sales. I’m so envious of your finds at the Madewell store. What a good deal!

  9. Betty says:

I hope you get well soon even though you’ve been dying for a whole week now. :P I’ve always find jaimeson’s echinacea with golden seal helps speed up recover very well.

Ppl at my office are sick too and I’m avoiding them like a plague. Canada tried to have a black Friday too but it’s not the same. Our sales sucks. Lol.

  10. Lolo says:

Feel better Jen! I’m glad you had a good Thanksgiving~

  11. Shirley says:

I think I got that same cardigan from H&M!
    Feel better~

    • jenny says:

VERY likely! It’s been in stores for quite a while and I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I finally bought it on sale! There is a matching white one too :)

  12. Amanda says:

Happy to read that you’re feeling better!

  13. cin says:

Game of Thrones is cool :D
Good to hear that you were ok enough to go Black Friday shopping! I must get my hands on Madewell someday~ Take things easy until your 100%!

    • cin says:

Oh and cyst acne sucks! Do they leave scars on you? They always leave scars on my face even if I don’t squeeze them… What do you do on scars?

      • jenny says:

They do~ They don’t stick around too long thankfully, maybe a week. My moisturizer and skincare stuff help clear it up quickly. Until then though I just use concealer with my makeup routine to cover them up.

  14. Courtney says:

Aww…it seems like the worst has passed?? I hope so so you can start feeling better :) Geez, I could use a pimple patch too right about now…I’ll look for it when I go out. ‘ x ‘
Whoa! are you already decorated for Christmas??

    Take it easy!!

    • jenny says:

Oh no we don’t have any decorations up yet! Haha why do you say that? The bokeh on the photos maybe? Though when I go into into work tomorrow I am decorating my cube a bit. Got a LED USB xmas tree and some garland to hang up! Plus holiday scented air freshener. I won’t probably decorate the house until I feel 100% better so maybe the first week of December~~

      • Courtney says:

Yeah the bokeh with all the red in the background of the first pic made me think it was a Christmas set up :) But on closer inspection, maybe it’s just some of your bathroom stuff? lol

Ohh! Your work decorations sound pretty festive~ At least, I thought most people didn’t decorate their cubicles much. The tree sounds adorable! Do show us if you have time :)

Ah, yes, yes, rest and feel better ^^

        • jenny says:

It’s a cheat actually! I took all of these with my iPhone and it’s just a filter xDD!

Quite a number of people decorate in my office thankfully. Some even have lights they string up!! Or hand snowflakes from the ceiling. I find that most people in NOAA personalize their office space with photos and trinkets and flowers. But it might be different at other agencies. Environmental work tends to lure in warm-hearted people who like to make their cube somewhat homey feeling :D

  15. Becca says:

cute socks!!!! let us know if the pimple patch works! I would request before/after pics but then realized that’s kind of revolting to see up close :P

  16. Fuuka says:

Use Abreva(yes, the one for cold sores) on pimples, it speeds up the healing SOOO MUCH.

  17. Kanon says:

Oh what a coincidence, I just had my MIA arrived yesterday and going to try it out today !!
I should tell you how it goes when I use it.

I love the red jacket you have. So cute~
    I don’t have H&M around my state :(
I wish they did…they have so cute outfits !

    • jenny says:

You got one too!! Mine arrives tomorrow. I heard the first time use is always amazing! But I’m really curious about how my skin will fair over a few weeks of use. I read there’s often a “purging” stage where your face might break out at first as the impurities come out. I’m worried about it but it just happens to already coincide with a rare break out so I feel better about it lol. I’m already pimple’y on my chin :P

  18. Tori says:

Hoping you’re feeling 100% (or even just 98.8%!) better by now bb! ♥ Multi-stage colds are awful.
I’m so stoked you finally got to watch s1 of Game of Thrones though! Is it not amazing?? Counting down the days til s2 comes out next year!

  19. z says:

your madewell gets are amazing!!! i didn’t know they had crazy sales like this … but then again i never venture into the store. i might just have to change that…

i hope you get better soon! like now! meow.

  20. Sidney says:

I also have a volcano on my chin. well, now it’s more of bump, but for Thanksgiving it was huge and so cystic. ugh. I know you’ll share with us how the Clarisonic goes! I’m excited to hear about it!
