Around Kamakura
Sunday, May. 6, 2012 | 26 Comments

Spent a better part of a day in Kamakura. It’s little over an hour from the Shinjuku station in Tokyo. It’s a coastal city with many shrines and beautiful attractions. It’s also just a nice area with cafes, shops, and has a laid back coast-vibe to it.
I don’t have a photo but I had some amazing donuts at Natural Donuts while there.
Also outside the station there’s a small taiyaki stand called Tai Putit that sells “mini-taiyaki” in various filling. You can buy a mixed bag, which I did.

It was such a sunny day and much of their concrete is so very bright white that most my photos had really blown white balance. Even with sunscreen I came home that late afternoon with a slight sunburn on my neck & forehead. :sunny:

Wow, so very cool and seems like a relaxing place to be! What kind of different fillings did you get in the Taiyaki?
If I recall there was red bean paste, chocolate, vanilla, sakura (cherry, sorta,) rose, and matcha.

I love Kamakura, I always felt like it was such a lovely countryside town but it still had plenty to see and do. I only did a quick look up and down the high street whilst looking for somewhere to eat, after visiting the Buddha. I’d definitely love to visit again.
Oh, I would love to travel outside of the big cities next time I go to Japan. This is exactly the kind of place I’ve been wanting to go to whevever I visited before…
