Playlists

Monday April 01, 2013

A little update. :)
It’s Monday. I started my day with getting some real progress started with switching companies (but not jobs) this coming May. Thankfully I have the rest of April to use any extra leave I have so I’m taking a few days off for my birthday later this week. Also picked the cake I SWEAR I’M MAKING. This one. God it’s gonna be a disaster. Saturday is my actual birthday. Mike’s got some things planned for us. I like quiet birthdays. I’ve had parties in the past but I just always end up dipping-out early. Of my own parties… yeah. Then today was April Fool’s and I enjoyed losing some followers to the Mishapocalypse. I always assume it’s some poor unsuspecting Tumblr user who’s sitting around waiting for gyaru spam from me that is never coming.

Now I’m going to blog some of my playlists. I got a question on Tumblr asking if I could.

I have somewhat varied tastes. I try to feature music when I can but The Internet makes it a serious pain in the ass. I wish iTunes would just let you share for listening purposes. And a lot of my stuff is so old it’s not on soundcloud or anything.

So here is a ton of music, listed, from my playlists.

I also have playlists to match certain moods.

angsty. apathetic. badass. calm days. fuck em. love. pissy.

One’s like Jen’s 90’s are songs that I adored… in the 90’s. Obviously. Most of these were CDs I used to own that I burned to iTunes. Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, The Cardigans, The Pixies, Garbage, Weezer, The Rentals, Mono.

I have a Sleep one too that repeats the same 10 minute soundscape file 5 times. I use it religiously when travelling. It’s so hard for me to fall asleep somewhere unfamiliar. So I pop this on and I’m out. I don’t repeat it continuously so I don’t have to worry about the battery dying.

Anyway here are all of them currently on my phone.

This actually feels really personal to share. Because this shows how my brain works and what I feel in a sense through music.

Anyway, request filled I hope!

You can make a Spotify playlist! I think then people can listen to it online.

  2. Maye says:

That was a pretty interesting question! And let us know more a bit more about you.
It surprised me there’s more korean music than japanese.

And I haven’t commented because I’ve been busy to properly follow it, but I find amusing your immersion into Supernatural. XD

    Have a nice week, Jenny!

    • jenny says:

Yeah I’ve been (and am I guess) in DW and Sherlock fandom. Community fandom too. But the Supernatural fandom has been THE most fun for me.

  3. Zoey says:

    Hey Jenny,

I love the fact you have a “Spn” playlist (oh, god, don’t we all?) and the fact that you organise your tracks like this. Does it take long to do? I’ve never been able to playlist properly at all. They just end up being random songs with no theme whatsoever, just thrown into a list with a weird name. ”(.__.)

Have you ever listened to “Of Monsters & Men” at all? Just seemed like they would fit in well with your tastes ~

Also, what headphones do you use? They look like the kind that would be super comfy to wear….

    • jenny says:

It takes longer when I feel the need to clean them up (rare days.) Usually I make them very quickly on the go when I’m feeling the need for one. I just pull them from other playlists already on my phone. “This & That” is a playlist of a LOT of random music I pull from.

I use Sony Bump N Buds. I’m REALLY rough on my earbuds so I try to not spend too much since I have to replace them about once a year. But I like these because
#1 they block out A LOT of noise which I need for train commuting & at the office.
#2 the sound is pretty good actually.
#3 They’re durable (I used to go through earbuds every few months before these.)
      #4 colorssssssssss.

I have a pair of over the ear skullcandy headphones at home. I need buds for commuting/work though.

Thanks for the music recommend! They’re pretty cool. A little too folk for me but my husband might be into them so I’m passing it on :D

  4. Michelle says:

Oh I absolutely love Casker and Humming Urban Stereo! I usually go on 8tracks and type in K-Indie to get new songs to add to my iTunes. I am loving your phone case. I have the same one in the same exact color, haha!

    • jenny says:

Yeah I listen to a lot of streaming radio and come upon new stuff! I used to have Sirius XM for finding new music but they started sucking so bad I cancelled.

UNF this is my hands down favorite case I kid you not!

  5. Thea says:

Nice playlists! Humming Urban Stereo and Clazziquai Project sure are both great and awesome! I wonder if they have some Japanese counterparts. I listen to FreeTempo too but I can be a bit picky when it comes to their songs.

    • jenny says:

OOOh me too about FreeTempo! The newer it is the less likely I will like the songs from them. But oh well they had a couple of albums I super loved. :)

  6. sarita says:

Humming Urban Stereo, Yelle, and STRFKR? you have such good taste! I must check out this Cascker.

  7. megan says:

Ooo, there’s a lot of stuff up there I want to try!

And I agree with the feeling of sharing your playlists being a very personal thing.

  8. Lei says:

Sweet, I spot some music I don’t have just yet! Always interesting to see people’s playlists. I wish I my dinosaur of a mp3 player had more space and the option to set playlists. :<

  9. Lolo says:

hahaha love the playlists that are categorized by mood~

chocolate cakeeee. it looks so amazing~ i’m sure you’ll do a great job!!

  10. Veng says:

Try busker busker, there are an amazing band

  11. Signe says:

Yaaay, Mishapocalypse was amazing, I am so glad you joined! ^^

    • jenny says:

Seriously that was the most fun I had on Tumblr in a while. The spn fandom is wonderfully crazy and I love it. (no turning back)

  12. Amanda says:

I’m really glad you shared so many playlists! I need some new inspiration! How is spring coming along? In Sweden there’s still snow everywhere -_-
I was wondering – are you going to play the new Animal Crossing game when it comes out?

    Have a great day!

    • jenny says:

It’s cold and each week the cherry blossoms get pushed back to bloom later & later…
      BUT…
I MIGHT THE NEW ANIMAL CROSSING! I had City Folk. I really want a Wii U title though so we’ll see…

      • Amanda says:

At least we know spring is on its way! ^^
I can’t wait for animal crossing to come out for the 3ds, but who knows they might make another for wii u!
        I prefer a portable device.

        • jenny says:

Yeah I get that. I’m horrible at keeping up with my 3DS. I don’t really play games on the go, not even on my phone. But it looks like that means serious wait time if I want to play a new Animal Crossing =Y

  13. Kei says:

I need to look into some of this music~ This reminds me that I need to update my playlists and organize them better, haha

  14. Sami says:

I don’t usually bother making playlists but your post has really inspired me :D

  15. Bianca says:

//steals playlist// so inspired right now, normally I just have one playlist but that gets annoying. The purpose is so I don’t play out my faves but I end up just hitting “skip” :/

  16. Purin says:

Lol I see a The bird and the Bee songs, you should listen more songs from them, i love them, they are one of my favorite groups~
I suggest: Heard it on the radio, You are a Cad, Man Eater (they have a tribute album to Hall & Oates btw), Love Letter to Japan, Polite Dance Song (If you are a TBBT fan you should watch the video xD), Fucking Boyfriend, I’m a Broken Heart and that’s it.
If you are looking for more indie Korean music you should listen Dear Cloud, I think you might like it :)

    • jenny says:

I feel bad you typed out all of those because I already have them hahaha. I’m sorry, I have have a few of their albums just on different playlists I didn’t delve into itemizing.

Off to check out Dear Cloud~~~ ty ty!

  17. Leslie says:

Haha I love that you have a Destiel playlist!

Also loving all the Humming Urban Stereo~

  18. MN says:

Can’t believe you ship Destiel ):

  19. Sidney says:

I LOVE SEEING PLAYLISTS OF PEOPLE I KNOW OMG i love this post so much going to try these out/look up the musics.

  20. Amelia says:

YES DESTIEL PLAYLIST(don’t mind me fangirling here).

I am definitely seeing some new bands I have to listen to.

  21. Kate says:

AHHHHHHHHHHH PLAYLISTS. It is very intimate I think but I do so love seeing them. Have you ever listened to Han Hee Jung, Big Baby Driver, or BlueDawn (HHJ sang for them, similar)? Korean indie stuff. (:
