Soups, bags, alcohol, and steaks

Thursday, June 12th, 2008 | 27 Comments

I made cabbage soup today for lunch . I was working @ home today :driftingoff: It’s that recipe from the cabbage soup diet, but rest assured I’m not doing the diet. i just love cabbage but don’t get to eat it that often. This soup is really, really easy to make and easy to adjust to your liking

CABBAGE SOUP

  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 head of cabbage
  • 3 plus large green onions
  • 1 large can of beef broth (no fat)
  • 1 pkg. Lipton Soup mix (onion)
  • 1 bunch of celery
  • 2 lbs. Carrots
  • 1 Green Peppers
  • 1/2 sliced white onion

Cut veggies in small to medium pieces.
Cover with water. Boil fast for 10 minutes. Reduce to simmer and
continue to cook until veggies are tender.Season with salt, pepper curry, parsley, if desired, or bouillon, hot or Worcestershire sauce.

I actually cut the ingredients by 1/2 to make a smaller pot.

In spending my money news, Karme & I have purchased Cher eco-bags bwahahahaha bag twins, HERRO! Temptation be damned! I spent more than my normal frugal self and I have NO regrets. Despite what Karme says!! hahahaはははははは I’ve only talked about the cher eco-bag over & over & over again. It’ll be a few weeks of waiting now (darn Japanese auctions~ hahah)

WHOOT!

Then tonight mike & I had a date~ Very nice steak house. It was so delicious. And then we hit up a liquor store to stock up for July 4th. I have a friend visiting and so it’ll be nice to have some drinks. We tossed everything we had before when we moved because they were nearly gone anyway. :good:

I love cabbage in a salad. Never had the soup before though~ :0 I have heard of the diet but I just think that eating the same thing every day would get boring (even chocolate) and lead someone to cheat the diet

Lol my friend was on the cabbage soup diet… it was the week before exams, and she did it really strictly (like she only had the cabbage soup). She ended up being really sick during exam week!

Seriously, everything in moderation, we told her not to do it and she didn’t listen.

When I first read “cabbage soup” I was thinking URGH!!! yuck. But actually, the photo with the carrots & everything in it actually looks quite yum.
If i eat cabbage I usually stir-fry it with garlic & sesame oil… tip from my Chinese friend!

I love having friends over for drinks, so relaxing and enjoyable. Have fun!!

A I’m a total bag-whore so I know the feeling, and they do look awesome…please don’t tell me what the did cost you though And I love soup too, but I’ve never tried that one, nor any cabbage soup. I wish I could though, but Lipton soup mix…? Don’t think Sweden has that :(
