Frilly Skirts & YesStyle!

Thursday May 07, 2009

I’m back! Sorry to not have posted since Friday. Work’s been busy this week and when I get home I haven’t been feeling so great. I get kinda fatigued and sick after I eat lately. Hopefully nothing to worry about~ Anyway…

First off I’m excited to announce that YesStyle is now a sponsor of sushi-cat! I’ve mentioned them in the past and I know a lot of you have shopped there before. I was looking through their selection the other night and thought it would be fun to post some “finds!” There’s such a variety of styles and enormous selection that sometimes trendy Japanese style items are easier to purchase than realized! I thought I’d do ruffle skirts since I just posted about mine last week. I had actually looked on YesStyle first to buy one but they only had 2 styles available. Now… they have tons!! Many cheaper than what I paid for mine at Bloomingdale’s too

And yes, they ship internationally There are some high-waist denim skirts too I’ll post later. Like the one Lena where’s nonstop!

Also, I wanted to repost some links of curling tutorials again:

… My comment got cut off ):
But I just wanted to say that you always have the greatest finds and that it’s so exciting that Yesstyle is a sponsor~! :)
I’ve had them bookmarked for a while now, but are their shipping fees expensive? That’s always a big concern with online shopping! >_

  5. Megan says:

YAAY You post so much helpful stuff, haha~! I saw that yesstyle was sponsoring blogs, mine’s not very old but I’m hoping I can get it too! *cross fingers*

The ruffle skirts are to die for!! The last quad of images, the top left~~ MUST HAVE!!

Thank you for the shopping guide too! Definitely saving that if I ever go (hopefully!) ^_^

  6. Kim says:

At first I was like, “why don’t I understand these curling tutorials?” Not only are they in Japanese, but I forgot to read them left to right lol.

    • Jenny says:

Hahahaha!! Easy mistake. I get confused when righting in blank notebooks now. I open them from the wrong side if the cover & backing look exact =___=

  7. Maki says:

    hies.
i will be going to japan this december but i dont know where to visit . any places that sells more summer clothes? its like burning hot in my place and i dont want to buy too many winter clothes. plus, are there any where it is convinient so converse w/ them in eng? ( my japanese is like p1 standerd ) >

    • Jenny says:

Not sure about that. I can tell you Japan is pretty season-strict when it come to both selling & wearing clothing. For example, When I visited in September it was still crazy hot but b/c fall had begun most people were already in long sleeved layers and light scarves. You should be able to find things like camis and layering items though (hopefully!)

You shouldn’t have troubles getting by in major cities, but if you stray from there you’ll need to not expect anyone to know English (just to be safe.) Always approach speaking Japanese first, if even to just state you don’t understand it well. I’d suggest staying at an international hotel as well. So at least your hotel accommodations will be easy to figure out.

Auu! I always love your fashion posts! Was thinking of interspersing my posts with some fashion posts of well! When I’m bored I just love hanging around on polyvire making random outfits! Ultimate time waster! But so enjoyable!

I’m hoping to go to japan one day too – Jetstar had tickets for $199 one way the other day and I missed out! Ultimate upset! Oh well! To be saved for another day :p

    ❤jayne :3

    • Jenny says:

Yes oh yes! I’d love to see which styles you gravitate too! I remember you did 1 or 2 in the past & they were fun reads! Polyvore is like cyanide to me. I’m too much of a perfectionist and I can’t ever settle on combos! LO

      Holy moly 199$!! Heartbreaking.

  9. Rae says:

I love Yes Style! I bought cute Korean Mary Janes from there! Thanks for the curling tutorials…until my hair gets longer I’ll just have to wait. ;_

  10. Zoraida says:

I want to go to Japan for shopping!! But I only understand basic Japanese hahahah. I hope it won’t be too hard for a foreigner… But I loooove those curling tutorials!

  11. Hachi says:

    TT_TT
Yeah, lots of people going to Japan this summer. I hope to be one of the few who stays!

YesStyle is brilliant, I’ve bought things from there before. I hope they keep getting more great brands on board. Imagine if they started selling along the lines of Cecil McBee and Gilfy. I’d flip!

  12. emm says:

  13. Anonymous says:

So many cute ruffle skirts! I wish I had the legs to wear them cos I just think they’re so adorable. I love the baby-pink colours. I want to get a dress in that colour for the summer.

I hope you’re not getting sick. Maybe it’s because you’ve been so busy, plus tiredness can make you woozy. Feel better soon! xxx

    is lena 100% japanese…?

    • Jenny says:

      That is so cute!! O_O!!

Lena is not 100% Japanese :) I don’t know much more than that except “european” genes are in there. Unlike Rinka who I know is 1/2 Japanese 1/2 French-American :P (obviously my researching efforts lie more so with Rinka, hahahah!)

  16. Yi Lin says:

  23. Aleida says:

Wow thank you for sharing! I usually ignore the shopping sites you mention because they usually do not ship to The Netherlands. I’m really happy YesStyle does! I’m definitely going to check out what they have and order some cute items :D

  24. sah says:

(sorry, my inglish is not god)
I love all, congrats and kisses :*

  25. Cecilia says:

*_* Congrats!!! Sushi cat is awesome

  26. Anna says:

I love the skirts! So cute! And that girl in the last photo look SO tall! :P

My friend ordered some clothes from YesStyle, and she think they’re all bought for 2 dollars on the streets, but wrapped pretty and stylish. The clothes she bought from YS didn’t even have labels and was all curly and yuck she said.

    • Jenny says:

Well, yesstyle is just a collection of overseas shops so I’m not surprised that a few of them are lower in quality. Like a lot of other korean/taiwan shops online I’d review the individual name first. Many of yesstyle’s available shops already have huge online stores of their own (like Sechuna!!) and use YS to ship internationally. Those stores are more trustworthy for quality! I can tell you that when I order (like from dodostyle) from YS I’ve been happy with the quality. It definitely met the pricing for it. I tend to buy the cheaper items, like 18$ cute sweatshirts and stuff. Too bad about your friend though. Hopefully she returned it for a refund!

  27. Lorik says:

    I love looking throught their website…they always have really nice clothes. I have never really bought clothes online…I always tend to just buy accessories or things that don’t require me to “try them on” to know if the fit hahaha it’s just a fear I have ;___;

I really love the ruffle skirts…I already have a couple of pencil skirts that I can wear with more casual clothes, but the ruffled skirts are so much fun~

  28. kammi says:

when i was in hong kong, maybe 2 summers ago, i got a t-shirt that had the exact same design as the shirt i saw on yesstyle a week ago on the website… had identical print except some differences on the bow attached it. HK copies a lot of designs from magazines. These shirts usually appear on the streets, although i got ripped off and bought it from some boutique.. but still pretty cheap. They get all their stuff from China. i guess what i am trying to say is that these trendy “cheap” clothes are all the same. Some are gd quality and others are not. Thats why i love going to HK because they have all these clothes for half the price. But people tend to throw out their clothes and just keep buying new ones. Thats why i am very careful in what i buy. Do not wash them too often and the materials tend to rip… i am not speaking on behalf of yesstyle because i’ve never purchased anything from them but i am assuming the clothes are quite similar because asian countries seem to carry the same goods. Anyhow i still have that t-shirt and it is still in good shape! I think some clothes are worth to buy from what i see.

  29. Veronica says:

I was going to buy a nice blue rufflie skirt that made my bum look great – but put it back to save money.

Now I want it more than evar! Raaaarrr hate what that happens

  30. Jing says:

Those skirts are adorable. Too bad I don’t wear skirts (too self-conscious ^^’). Anyway, hope you feel better :)

  31. Rachelle says:

Ah I have yet to purchase from Yesstyle, but I’ve been dying to for so long! I’m not much of a skirt gal myself but those are really cute! The Snoopy dress came out better than I had imagined!

  32. Honeydew says:

I haven’t been on your blog for awhile. My internet has been up and down all week this week and the stupid cable guy came to fix it like 3 times already and it’s still not completely fixed yet. D: So right now, I’m living off with stealing the connection from my neighbours, hahaha.

I never bought anything from YesStyle before, but I have purchased stuff from an Asian online store in the past. Hmm…..I find that most of the time they tend to make the clothes look a lot nicer in those pictures than they really are in reality, and a lot of the times, the quality of the clothes are made extremely cheap as well. Sometimes the colour don’t even match what is shown on the website either! So I’m kind of turned off by ordering clothes from any Asian sites now except for maybe the original Japanese ones that do international shipping. Though the styles are more trendy but the quality doesn’t look as great. Does your items usually come in good quality?

  33. Linda says:

omggg i love that snoopy dress and the hat :D

  34. clara says:

the snoopy dress is so cute!
    i like those flirty skirts!

  35. Anna says:

I noticed H&M had skirts like that when I was browsing through their summer catalogue the other day. I noticed because I had seen your photos of it :P Yes I know I’m such a late and lazy commenter even though I read all your entries. But I just had to tell you. So if you’re interested in getting yourself a skirt like that, maybe you should check out hm.com or something :p

  36. Genevieve says:

Oh no! Wrong “wear”! “Like the one Lena where’s nonstop!” *sirens* GRAMMAR NAZI HERE FOR YOUUUU! XD

I honestly wish I had a smaller butt so I could wear ruffle skirts. They make my butt look TWICE as big D:
That maxi dress is LOVE! :D

  37. Rene says:

Hey, very nice indeed! But did you know that you get the same clothes cheaper at http://risingtaste.com ?

    regards
    Rene
