When Jenny has a freak-out

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007 | 26 Comments

The past month my mood has been so phenomenal. Obviously my hormones were finally under control (read below for that.) But for the past 4 days things have gone sour. Maybe it’s the medicine [I’m on the “sugar pills” now.] Or maybe it’s work, or just life pissing on me little by little. But I feel so overwhelmed. I had a total freak out yesterday. My usual tactics for calming down didn’t help.. so I did my #1 cure for freak-outs… I changed my hair. I chopped off 2 inches worth of my side-swept bangs in order to have full, straight on bangs. And it made me VERY happy, and VERY calm.

….
Rant about birth control, proceed with caution >>

Background…
When I was 18 I went on the pill to control my cycle. I was having hellish periods every 2 weeks for 10 - 12 days at a time. I was on the pill till I moved here. I went off for a variety of reasons. Things were fine till about 8 months ago. I started getting my period every 2 weeks again only now it lasted 14 hellish, painful days. So, last month I found a gynecologist I liked and proceeded to find a new birth control that fit my needs. By the way, she cringed when I told her about my every 2 weeks for 2 weeks cycle.

So she prescribed me Loestrin 24 Fe. Been on that for the past 4 weeks. Also, been on my period nonstop for the past 4 weeks. So she’s now having me try Femcon Fe. It’s pretty new, therefore, FUCKIN’ EXPENSIVE. AND my insurance is being all shitty about paying for multiple packs at 1 time so if this pill works I gotta call my doctor up & get her to re-write the prescription in a certain way so that my STUPID ASS insurance covers ALL my packs of pills!!! UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH, and the pharmacy was shit today and I didn’t know about this and I’ve been on my period for 4 weeks straight and BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! What’s worse is that she said if Femcon Fe causes me to be on my cycle still too that I should at least try it for 2 - 3 months before switching again O_______O;;;; UM FUCK NO WE’LL CROSS THAT BRIDGE WHEN WE GET THERE, MMMK!?

My cycles are okay; pretty ‘normal.’ I learnt about control pills a few weeks ago, and yeh they can be hell. I hope it all works out Jen.

I love your new spontaneous hairstyle! ^____^ It’s always good to change something when you’re feeling down. I think it makes you feel in ‘control’ of something :]

Cute hair!! ^__________^

Ah, that really sucks about how you’ve been feeling lately and what you’ve been going through. Hopefully this new presc will be the one.

I’m so glad I’m very irregular so I only go through it twice/three times a year.

Crossin’ my fingers for ya!!~

I used to have bangs!! They’re nice and I might want them again. =) Thats a very cute haircut!

As for the birth control thing… I was almost going to be on it since my periods are extremely painful every month and nothing helps, but my mom said I was okay. =/

Ah, sounds familiar. In my first three months on the pill, I had my period for five weeks. What a pain in the asssss! But in my experience, if you wait the three months it does get regular….
And yeah, I’m suddenly having the urge to get something pierced, because I changed my hair pretty recently I guess. Sometimes changing appearance really does help…

There is a type of birth control out called Seasonale/Seasonique (generic is Quasense) and you only get your period once every three months. And I think Quasense makes it so that you only have one period a year…but I’m not too sure. Better google or talk to your doctor! Yeah, these things really suck ~.~

Oh god. Oh god. I can’t imagine being on the rag for 14 days. I think my weirdest one was I had it for like 7 days. It was gone for 3 days and then came back for another 7 days.
Why are our bodies so weird?

I used to be on the pill and that pretty much took care of my cramps bc even though I’m not on it anymore, I don’t get cramps really bad like I used to (I’d miss school for 2 days and be on rx pain killers cause the pain was so bad). Nowadays a leg goes numb, I put something hot on my uterus area (relaxes it SO much, srsly), and take deep breaths.

I hope you get this all figured out soon. The pill sucks but sometimes it’s a must, yanno? But being on the rag for that long SUCKS. :(

Oh my the pill can really effect your hormones > mood :( My sister is on it for quite some time now and to be honest I think she should definitely quit. I decided to quit the pill at the start of this year, just after Klaas went to Madrid. And it feels really great, I don’t have serious grumpy times anymore nor do I feel blue for unknown reasons But before I started the pill I always had very constant cycles - and they have returned within a month after I stopped. So when you do use the pill - like you - to controll your cycles *ugh* I can’t say to you - QUIT :( I really hope you can find a pill that suits you - I so think it’s toxic stuff that really effects your hormones and mood *sigh* I hope it will get sorted out soon - having your period for such a long time is *ugh* ~~~~ Take care * goodluck !!!!!!!

Your haircut is hot!! The bangs are really cute.

Wow, I would hate being on my period for 4 weeks. ;_; Hopefully the new pill works better. I used to use the patch, but it left big red patch-shaped marks on my skin :(

That sounds awful, I could not imagine having my period that long. Hopefully your pills will work. Maybe you should try Ortho Tri-Cyclin Lo. There has never been any problems for me, my period is only 3 days with it. On a happier note, your haircut looks very cute.

Yikes! I feel for ya! Not meaning to pry or anything, but, maybe you should see about endometriosis? For me, I started taking the pill and was OK for almost 2 years. I switched to Depo and got off it after 3 months because it messed me all to hell and back. I tried the patch and even tried going back onto the old pill I was one, etc, etc- it seems like every BC method messes me up like crazy and when I’m not on BC, I’m just stuck with longer than “normal” periods and really bad cramps(certainly better than bleeding for months at a time). It’s crazy for me, to say the least. After years of messing around with my hormones, turns out I have endometriosis and that’s one of, if not the #1, culprit to causing the probs. So, from one chika to another- something to think about. P.S. Being on your cycle that many times for that long each time can really mess with you. I take iron supplements now ’cause I’m borderline anemic :(.
