Thoughts About PopSister

Got on Tumblr today and saw the July issue of PopSister!
GLORIOUS!

OMG I LOVE IT~~~~~~~~@@@@
LA Casual, Ami & Aya, everyday denim casual, SLY mode vs. RNA street, summer hair trend ranking & more~~
Looks like Ami & Aya are moving to the ranks of Sister models bringing the total to 9
I really love Aya’s style~ it’s more fun & street mix than some of the other Sister models
I have to admit as much as I love PopSister I felt issue #3 (that first issue (June ‘10) kicking off the monthly’s) felt different than the previous 2 issues.
Not enough classic street mixed in, way more vintage style than the other two issues had too.
Also no multi-day coordinate sections. :F Really it read more like an issue of SCawaii rather than Popteen, which was a bit disappointing.
I know they are branching out from Popteen but I do enjoy the overall layout and flow of Popteen that the previous two PopSister issues had. :good: That said I know they are still settling in as a magazine.
And I have a subscription so I’m willing to see where it goes.
I won’t even get into how I further wonder if due to the various street scenes taking on many of the gal trends if it makes it harder for gal oriented magazines to find those ever dwindling “street” trends to incorporate into the looks
… omfg I’m talking in circlessssssssss! I’ll stop.
Anyway, this cover gets me excited about PopSister all over again!
Other than that, another weekend’s over
Yesterday I ran around and stopped for froyo~~ My life’s so sad that discovering they now offer watermelon as a fruit topping sent me into a chatterbox world of giddiness
It was like an unofficial start to summer!

If you’re looking for the watermelon, I’m a layer’er!
All the fruits are under the top layer of froyo which is actually topped with frosted flakes.
Then today I got up early and decided to get out into the city for some walking. I’ve never had a chance to visit the Jefferson Memorial, SO WE WENT! :good: It was our target destination I suppose. :!: It’s supposed to rain for the next couple of days
so I wanted to get out as much as possible today.
Ended up walking 8 miles!!! (Thank you pedometer
)
For a late lunch I stopped off and had some southern comfort foods~ Gumbo, drop biscuits, beignets, and fried catfish.
It was so delicious I was walking out of the restaurant hunched over with a stomach at maximum capacity,
haahaa~

I know I haven’t been around much online this week.
Haven’t gotten to really reply to things or blog surf.
I wish I had more time to do all the little things I want to do!!
I really want to start playing some old game titles on the Wii too. I go through periods where I just replay old ass titles I played when I was growing up.
I have Kirby Crystal Shards downloaded. It’s one of the few titles I never actually completed playing as a kid *is ashamed!* But I know doing that means less time for the computer and whatever else…
But I wanna replay Super Mario Bros. 2 for the 70th-million time or at least Yoshi’s Story for the 5th time!
Yoshi’s Story seriously ranks in my top 3 all-time favorite games. ALL TIME! I’M NOT KIDDING. PLAY IT IF YOU HAVE A WII!!!!!
My all-time favorite game would have to go to Super Mario Bros. 2 just given the insane amounts of time I’ve beaten it (without warping to the end too OK!!)

Oh god YES YOSHI’s Story *dies* I thought I heard some Yoshi music back beats in a Perfume song and almost had a heart attack
Still have never had proper southern food! No gumbo, or fried green tomatoes or catfish *—SAD* Looks amazing
Isn’t that just the way - you live in a place for a long time and never see the top places. I do that too with stuff in Boston.
I love the leopard tights! Shorts + tights = spring/summer lookbook
Dude - eff the internet sometimes, you know, haha - winter is over, let’s get out and bask in sunshiney days
Awe no gumbo ever?! THAT’S A CRIME!
I’m a sucker for anything rainbow xD
I’m wanting some frozen yogurt now! With tons of fruits piled on top and throughout
I’m with you on the cover. It’s gorgeous~~ I haven’t had the chance to read Popsister so I really don’t know about the contents… But I am loving the models that are part of Popsister
oh, such a cute shirt
OH HO HO!
Looks nommy nommy! I’m trying to squeeze some warm days in again in attempt to eat more frozen yogurt - I have to keep telling myself it’s NOT THAT COLD (When it is). I’m that cool.
Also, I love making random detours to visit landmarks! I wish Brisbane actually had more landmarks to speak of though!
Isn’t the cover AMAZING?! Tsubasa looks like total perfection! ❤
I am so jealous of your froyo place too… It looks so yummy! The nearest place to get so-called ‘froyo’ here is at Costco, haha
Looks like you had a nice relaxing weekend though! & may I ask, is that shirt you’re wearing at the Jefferson Memorial from YesStyle? I was thinking of getting that one myself because it’s so marine, lol! ❤
It sure is! It’s this one—

That cover is very nice, they did a great job designing it. It’s really eye-catching amongst all the other magazines on the stands, and looks so summery! I thought the inside content was pretty nice, but still I’m not sure if I want to go ahead and spend the money on it.
Yummy food as always, the frozen yogurt looks especially nice. I’m wanting sugar alot at this moment, but I’m also so full of fish and salad, I don’t know if I can fit it in. …oh who am I kidding?? haha!!
I never much got into video games, my attention span and interest level never last long enough for anything besides fighting games and dancing games haha
Andy & I got a Wii like 2 years ago and, sadly, IT’S STILL IN THE BOX! =O mostly because we have no room to play it :(
ahh yesterday i found some banana ice cream w/walnuts. it was HEAVEN!
I don’t like the cover TT_TT SORRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYY!!!
Ami and Aya are a formidable pair, they’ll kick Tsubasa right off the cover one day *shakes fist*
(I follow their blog but become so overcome with jealousy sometimes…
Wow well done on walking 8 Miles (what!!?)
All that food looks so scummy. I can’t help thinking, “Look that’s what’s in The Princess and the Frog! But in real life!!”. I REALLY want to try it. Maybe there is a southern American restaurant in Tokyo? If I find one.. *explodes*
My friend said she had “gumbo” at some cafe and she lives in Tokyo. Wonder if it was authentic though with a roux base or a poo version with a tomato base. I forgot to ask if this restaurant’s gumbo compared to the cup she tried before (when she was visiting.)
UWAAAA! If you buy this please scan! I will love you SO much!
I am SO, SO excited for it~ mostly because I follow model Kanno Yui’s blog from POPTEEN
& her blog moved yesterday under POPSISTER.
I love the more graduated makeup style the POPSISTER models use too. I wonder how much
a subscription would be?
Leo tights are so cute! 8 miles is great for your health!
I’ll definitely at least scan some of it in like I did last month’s.
My subscription came to 100+$ but that’s with import markup and everything already.
Do you have a full months or just 6 months? What site do you go through?
I don’t use a site, just a local bookstore
Thanks for sharing again, that’s so sweet of you, Jenny!!
I totally love the pict where you are on it!
Thanks for leaving comments on my blog, I really appreciate them!
Coming from such a cool and stylish girl like you, I am specially happy about that! :-)
You’re too nice ;X
i love mario games! i played supermario bros wii whole weekend… and then mario galaxy… and wanted to play even more *-* and love old mario games~~ i keep old videogames just for playing them~
love popsister cover! thanks for showing this!
please show us your coordinations pics~~ i love them ^^
thanks so much for posting!!
have a good week~
Awe yea I used to still have N64, NES, and gamecube but the Wii thankfully makes it where I don’t need them now
Awe I’m glad you like my coords!!! I’ll try to remember to take snaps!

I played Yoshi’s Story on the N64!!! HAHAHA REMEMBER THOSE???
Wooo 8 mile walk! How do you not topple over???
Look at those pretty pearly whites~ Oh, what watermelon toppings can do to you! :’D
I’ve always wanted to try more Southern food because I’ve only had jambalaya and it’s sooo goodfjoiwjriowje
Ah yes of course I do! I actually still had all my consoles (NES, SNES, 64, gamecube) till the Wii’s virtual Arcade put out all my fav games
D Thank god too b/c the space that stuff took up =___=!!
gosh Jenny you’re so cute! ♥
TY you’re too kind DX
The Popsister cover is pretty cute!
Oh, I went to a frozen yogurt place recently where they had all sorts of fun toppings, like Jolly Rancher green apple syrup (Not for me, for my boyfriend, who loves that flavor). It was pretty cool!
Ah, my boyfriend has Yoshi’s Story on the 64. He…does not have the highest opinion of it. I think it was a big disappointment coming from the previous game, Yoshi’s Island, which he says has really nice graphics and depth.
Ah yea!! My place has sweet toppings too. I just lurk them… so sweet I must pass them up for healthy fruits!
Ah yea, Yoshi’s Story was EXTREMELY short and also really really girly. I don’t know any guys who really liked it =Y I beat it in 1 night it’s so short :(
Your recent posts have made me so hungry
I’m glad you got out and enjoyed the weekend and sunshine. We did the same this weekend. It feels like forever since we last went out exploring. Summer always makes me wanna get out more
ahahah i had to re-read your little bit about street/gal trends to really get what you were trying to say…but anyway, i LOVE the new cover to popsister!!! i think if this mag finds it’s “place” it’ll be REALLY influential. i hooope it does~~
omg all those old video games…ahh i love to replay old ones, too. and those are great~ except i have to acutally play them on the nintendo 64 or whatever console! haha no wii T T
but yoshi story ftw!!!
What a fun weekend! I’m a froyo fan too….
. I agree, it is taking me forever to find a good skincare regimen. I am hoping this is it! *prays* Thanks for sharing yours with me.
I never see any acne on your face so it is definitely working!
Awe thanks!! After having such bad acne for so long I can never turn down a skin compliment, gaahahaha
I picked up the new Popsister yesterday! You are going to love it!!
I didn’t buy the previous issue because I thought it was kind of plain… but this issue is much more colorful and fun, just like the cover.
There are no weekly coordinate articles, but the models’ personal coordinates and “self” makeup articles are nice! There is also an awesome article about the trends for this summer.
I am not really a fan of Aya and Ami (they are seriously in like EVERY magazine right now! haha), but I have to say that they bring fun energy to PopSister.
Reading the short “editor’s voice” column the back, I get the impression that the editors are working hard to improve the magazine and help it find its own direction. I think they are listening to what the readers have to say (and maybe noticed that the last issue was kind-of monotone? haha).
There are plenty of usagi mimi in this issue; though I hadn’t seen many girls on the street wearing them, it seems like it is slowly catching on and might be big this summer. I do get the feeling that this is a trend pushed by the models/mags and not really coming from the street, heh. But even guys know about this trend because has been featured on a couple of tv shows.
Your outfits are super cute! That WC tshirt looks really cute on you❤- the orange color is perfect for spring, haha. It makes me want one, too!
This! This made me sooooooooooo happy to read! TYTYTYTY!
I probably won’t get it until next week (darn shipping lag time!)
And I know what you mean about Aya & Ami, they SERIOUSLY are in every TYPE of magazine plus in contact ads and so on… it’s crazy!
Could I bug you to post a few scans so I can see a peek of the fashion section before I buy this issue? I would like to know if it’s more like Shibuhara or ShibuGAL..
that’s one of the most awesome covers i’ve seen on a jmag!!
it’s so BRIGHT! perfect for summer!!!
and aya and ami! i love their styles~
i still dunno what gumbo taste like.. let alone the other southern food~~ i’ll have to try one day~
ohh side scrollers is my worse genre cuz i can’t seem to jump right and keep missing and fall into pits (or other deadly stuff) and i get frustrated and stop playing
btw shibuhara is a fashion genre in this dressing up game i got for ds! it was never there in games before this one
Haahaa that’s really cool bout shibuhara!
OWhhh I’d love to have a copy of Popsister cuz I havent really checked it yet. Too bad I don’t see any issues of Popsister yet in my place! T.T and :OOO your bangs!
LOL my bangs? They’re getting long aren’t they
Omg I want some Southern food right now. Especially since it is almost summer. That gumbo looks amazing!
P.S. The first pic of you is very cute.
I’m so excited we actually have a frozen yogurt stop somewhere around here. I will feel much less jealous when I find it.
You look so cute hugging that monuement! it’s surprising how much we don’t actually visit the monuments we live by. IVE NEVER BEEN TO THE SEARS TOWER..ive walked past it 100xs but never went in..lol its cost 12-15 bucks! i could buy stuff with that money! haha i lived in chicago my entire life and never been, sad right…?
Gumbo is one of the few reasons I look forward to summer, fresh okra time! I missed out last year, but this year I’m determined not to! There is nothing better than homemade gumbo. :-9
Yea monument hugging!
I have to say that’s the prettiest pciture of youself that you’ve ever posted o(
)v
how did you get your subscription for popsister?! i absolutely hate hunting around the internet for cheap popsister issues, it’s such a hassle. i neeeeed a subscription!!
It’s from a local Japanese bookstore that sells fashion magazines.
