PopSister Hair Arranges & Snaps

Friday October 29, 2010

The rest of the PopSister stuff! These are the street snaps & some hair arranges specifically for hats. Sorry the resolution blows~ :facecry: Usually I jack it up to at least 300dpi for hair scans & street snaps but I just plain ole forgot this time. :eep:

I’m finishing cleaning up the house right now. This weekend I’ll be BUSY so I won’t get the chance. Tomorrow’s the Rally to Restore Sanity then Sunday’s Halloween :girlrage: *duuur* the Rally starts at 10am (well it says 12 but there are rumors of pre-rally stuff at 10? So we’re going at 10. I has no say in this, LOL) Runs till 3:00 or so~ I dunno how long I’ll be able to last. Might puss out from walking, but probably not. The temperature will be 60F and I’ll be outside so I’ll need to dress warmish. :doubledquestion: But also comfortable because I’ll be on my feet mostly. :dizzy: Can’t dress like I did Wednesday when it was nearly 80 freakin degrees!!

Then Sunday’s Halloween~ Pumpkin got carved last night while watching the Halloween Community Episode :D. I also decorated the house on Tuesday, or Monday. I forget~ :blushingcute:

And hopefully everyone will get their Halloween cards by today! I’m sorta bummed though, I didn’t get 1 from my Mom or my Grandmother this year :( BUT I have this one from Courtney (YEAH!) Plus the Halloween gifts from my friend I got last week of course ;3~ Also received a cute kitty-cat postcard from Cin this week :driftingheart:

Ha! These 2 cards sorta look the same in a way! Though one makes me crave a sunny-side up egg! :hungry:

Oh! And I picked up that hair bun tool from Goody. The Spin Pins. It’s to make doing twist buns easier. AND IT WORKS! I love them. No regrets buying.

I’ve started using them for work on days I’m rushing out the door and have no time to do my hair! :skipping: These 2 pins eliminate my typical need for 10 or more bobby pins in order to do a bun. Now I can get away with only needing 3 bobby pins at the most! :upheart: I can tell with enough practice I can get it down to no bobby pins & just these. I’ve done that successfully a few times already. The only reason I need any bobby pins at all is because my hair is crazy layered so I have to pin the tucked-in ends down a bit. I think if you have all one length or longer, fewer layers your bun will look less messy without needing any bobby pins. :good: Here’s a quick webcam snap I took today after getting home. It’s not the best but I just wanted SOMETHING :eep: to show for the entry :facepalmcry:

These come in two colors light hair & dark hair. And you twist your hair into a bun, no ponytail, then twist 1 pin in at the top & 1 in at the bottom :) . And done! :kissyheart: It was easier to do than I expected~ :crownkisses: And they’re pretty comfortable too, unlike hair pins I’ve used in the past, these don’t feel too tight or cause me headaches. :twinklepink: And this is for the typical bun & not those poofy top buns.

OK, OK, the PopSister stuff now~~~~~
There’s about 40 images~ just a fair warning before clicking. BTW “fair warning” seems to be my buzz word lately. strange~ :;_;:

Thanks for the hair scans by the way! They give me so much more ideas on how to do up my hair~
I’ve been wearing it in a ponytail for so long it feels really boring. :(
I love your black oxfords!! Cutee!

    • jenny says:

I’m glad they’re inspiring! They make me want to be less lazy with my hair but sometimes I still am :X…. often ;X, LOL

  2. Deso says:

Aww I love some of those hair arranges! I wish I had a hat to go with it. Hmm.
You looking really cute as always in your snapshots. :D
I’d buy those things for the bun, but the regular bun doesn’t suit me very well, hehe, I wish they had something to make the top bun look perfect. Also balcony looking super cute!! :)

    • jenny says:

      Thanks so much XD and yeah I was happy with our balcony decor but this killer wind is coming through and ripping my ghosties right off! LOL They’re escaping x_x;;

Hum… I feel like I’ve seen some Japanese top bun tools, oh wait, yea, this thing that wraps your hair better for a top bun but it got really bad reviews :(. I forget on which Japanese site I saw it on ;-;, sorry :(

  3. Cherubyx says:

Aww lucky I have been trying to get my hands on that spin pin from Goody in Canada… I haven’t found any in my city yet :( They had other Goody stuffs.

    • jenny says:

Well that seriously blows D: Are they selling out? I noticed the store I saw these at only had 1 shade in, probably the others sold out =Y

  4. Fatiha says:

It’s almost Halloween~! time goes by so quickly, doesnt it? I love your outfit for today~!! ^_^ and you’re not the only one who has a busy weekend. I have to do a lot of work!!! And the worst part is, I’ll hardly be able to get sleep!!!!
    Anyway~
The Spin Pins look really interesting… Hehe and they really do sound like they’re easy to use!! That sounds convenient~ where can you get them?

  5. sukipooki says:

thanks for the scans! Looks like the month’s issue is going to be great! Oh I’ve always wondered how well those twisty things worked and it seems like you’ve mastered it already! Omg those are some nice decorations for your house! wow I wonder if I’ll be able to put in that much effort whenI have my own place lol

Hope you have a happy halloween!

  6. Linda says:

ahhh wow! what an interesting rally lol :D and oh my gosh! you are suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper skinnyyyy! i’m jealous~

  7. Thao says:

Happy Halloween! KEEP THE FEAR ALIVEEEE!!! LMAO. I really hope you enjoy the rally tomorrow. I wish I could come, but living on the other side of the country doesn’t really help me out.

Really loving the side braids! And definitely loving your outfit. The “today” outfit gives me this cute Parisian vibe.

  8. LIly says:

what are you gonna be fr halloween??

  9. sidney says:

wow i wish it were that warm here T T it shot down to freeze this past week…sooo sad! but today was pretty nice, i hope i get to experience ‘fall’ weather!!

LOVE that wednesday outfit! and grr i think i need those bun things…i also always use a million bobby pins when fixing my hair :x

    • jenny says:

I think you jinxed me! It’s 28 degrees this morning! J/K~ the very next day it went from 80 to 55, it was HORRIBLE and everyone felt sick from it LOL!

  10. zoraida says:

    youuuu are sooooo adorableee!!!!!!

wow being at a rally that early is … early! lol @_@ i hope your feet don’t give out!

i need that bun thing?! it looks amazing!?

    • jenny says:

Turns out it wasn’t early! Getting there at 10 there were already thousands there. THOUSANDS! I still ended up being in the middle section of the crowd! Guess you had to get there at like 5am to be by the stage DX

  11. Miya says:

wowwww! thanks for all the scans! those hair styles are incredible!! too bad I could never get my hair to look like that hahah, maybe with lots of practice yeah?? I am in LOVE with that white blouse in your second picture. Such a cute outfit!

  12. Tori says:

Looking FAB bb~! ♥ I love how your style has evolved~ I think we’re both on similar tracks lately with a more simplified silhouette & OTK SOCKS YEA!! lol~
I always wondered about that ’spin pin’ & it looks like it works pretty well! Might have to try that out too for lazy hair days instead of just hiding under a hat, haha ;D
& I think these scans have renewed my love for Wei Son~ I feel myself identifying more & more with her style these days than any other gal model’s ♥

    • jenny says:

Seriously, winter + my trip~ they’re really sticking with me ya know! I know it sounds corny but coming back after seeing all the girls my age in Tokyo & how they choose to dress & play with different looks; I just keep thinking “I want to age gracefully too!!!~~ yeah, I’m ready!” Haahaa! And with that idea I think comes smarter shopping you know?! Like… maybe it ISN’T a horrible thing that something can be worn both to work & out for play too :D. And minimize my funky clothes but not eliminate, oh no, no. Gotta have SOME funky fun colorful stuff still, if not just for spring & summer! But the majority of my closet I want to be like these outfits above!

I’m glad otk socks are back! I got these like 3 years ago and finally busting them out after over a year!

  13. Ruby says:

Your outfits are so cute! If you don’t mine me asking, where is that large over-sized button-up from? :0
I’m so bad at making buns…I just roll my hair every which way to make one haha

  14. Veronica says:

Have I told you lately that i love your bigger pictures?! YAAAAY

Great outfits – black and white is so classic! I just watched “Coco Avant Chanel” and was like “I MUST ONLY WEAR BLACK AND WHITE THIS WINTER – it will make me look hot” LOL

I’m glad the Spin Pin is easy – I’m a little slow with those things so I’d imagine opening it up and being like “WHAT DO I DO NOW OH GOD” :P

    • jenny says:

LOL thank you! I used to feel they were obnoxious but after revamping my CSS I’m just sorta rolling with em :D

I’m seriously still obsessed with black on black from last winter! When I wore black shorts + black leggings + black boots nearly every day XOOOOO

  15. Mei says:

Thanks for posting these awesome hair tutorials! And for the countless fashion pictures :)

  16. Jeannine says:

    Cute outfits you wore~
It’s the first time I hear about the hair spin thin :o looks interesting! But I’m having a hard time imagining how it works lol
Anyway, thanks for the scans! I wish I didn’t cut my hair ;~; it’s too short to do anything nice like on those scans ;o; or back when I had long hair, it had tons of layers and it was hard to do certain hairstyles =~= next time I’ll just keep my hair simple XD
And the outfits jfsirjgfr so pretty~ it’s giving me ideas for coordinating things~ :D

    • jenny says:

Yea it’s so hard choosing a hairstyle because nothing can really do EVERYTHING so it’s such a tough choice D: I really, really want to go short again but I KNOW I’ll have days where I’ll just be like “whhhhhhhhhy! I can’t do anything with it!” But also I have days now where I’m like “Uggggggh I hate how I have to put so much work into my hair! I want simple!”

  17. Louise says:

OMG the spin pins! I love those things. I got them a few months ago and have been wearing them ever since. I have really thick, straight, asian hair, so it always takes tons of bobby pins to hold it into a bun (forget about trying to use elastic) but these work WONDERFULLY in my hair. For work, I usually just do a low, side bun and I automatically look “on top of things” hahahaha.

    • jenny says:

WOOOOAH thanks for sharing this!! YAY! I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks these things are a life saver!

  18. ミッカ says:

Happy Halloween Jenny! Love the first outfit pix you posted, I’m a shorts addict :P ! And, thanks for the scans! :D I really love some of those hair styles, but it makes me sad my hair is now short… I kinda miss my long hair… it was much more fun to wear. :( Hope you have a great time this weekend! :)

    • jenny says:

AWE~ I see short hair tutorials often too, maybe I’ll try to share some soon. I plan on getting a bob at xmas so I’ll probably be posting more short do tutorials after that haahahahaa!

  19. Ada says:

The spin pins loon so interesting!! where did you get them? I can never seem to do buns without having to use any sort of cheating tools T_T

ps. I walked by the bath salt isle few days ago and I just had the impulse to get a pack of bison to try. I’m guessing the spontaneity was probably induced by your bath salt galore post earlier LOL. Can’t wait to use it!!

    • jenny says:

I got em at Target in the hair tools section by the shampoos :)

Oh yeaaah! Which one did you get?! I hope you enjoy it :P Enjoy the lively popping of the salts!

  20. Tina says:

Happy Halloween and thanks for the scans, Jenny! Now that winter’s here, hats are a must in the cold and it always ruin my hair. Now I have great ideas for next time I walk out the door in full winter getup!

  21. bloomzy says:

Definitely going to try out some of these tutorials some time.
It’s so cold and rainy here that I wear a hat most days and I always want to mix up my look.

    Thank you :D

  22. JL says:

Thanks for the hair tutorial scans!!

I always love the intricate designs Japanese magazines come up with to incorporate into HAIR of all things! =D But I’m too lazy to spend time time doing my hair daily…

    • jenny says:

      Yea daily is a challenge XO. I try at least every other day to do my hair at least a little though daily I must style my bangs or they look really bad ;-;

  23. aw nice look…got me thinking of a new hair style~~coz i’ve been wanting a haircut for awhile now but haven’t decided~~

  24. Exotic Japan says:

Your hair looks nice and I love that eggs and bacon ghost, lol :-)

  25. Sami says:

Your outfits are so lovely! You have great style

Those spin pins look insane hah
But if it reduces your amount of bobby pins by that much sounds worth it!

Love the hair you posted, thanks for that!
Some look a lot more complicated than 4 ‘moves’ though

If I was to post about some of the styles you featured, can I use your scans so long as I link back to this post?

    • jenny says:

Yea I think the pins were $5 and 2 come in a box! Cheap and easy to use~ worked out great!

You’re more than welcome to post em! Let me know if you’d like something in higher resolution. I only did 200dpi this time because I was in a hurry but could scan in something in particular at 300+ if you need it.

  26. Marina says:

The spin pin looks super cool! I know a lot of girls in SIngapore imports stuff like that and sell it here. I’d be sure to find that spin pin thing (: Thanks for sharing!

    • jenny says:

Oh really!? That’s interesting. I know I’ve seen pins similar to this in Japan so I was REALLY happy to see it on US shelves \:D/

  27. Genevieve says:

Jenny you have the tiniest little chicken legs! :D ;P
LOVING your shoes in the second snap! How was the rally? I wanted to go but I was working from 12-7pm :(

That bun thing looks great! Thanks for the tip :)

  28. cin says:

i love your outfits!! :D theyre both really cool! i keep seeing rinka when i see you now~
how was the rally? i havent got around to watching the daily show since i left japan…
the hair arranges are really cute! ill give them a try for my friends dinner on saturday~ :)

  29. Ys says:

    Cute snapshots as always :)

I used to have a top very similar to the girl in pic… 7 I think it is. The British flag one. Only mine was red instead of blue. I kinda ruined it cos I used to wear it all the time when I was looking after the Pug puppies… their tiny claws used to pull the threads out.

  30. Miamy says:

I love your first outfit of the entry! :D
    your hair looks awesome too

  31. chiihime says:

love your outfits, soo cute!i’ll surely try some of these hair styles!
I specially love this outfit http://sushi-cat.net/pics/10_28_10_38.jpg it looks much like fall though i wonder if i’d stand for the cold weather wearing these T.T
hope your quilted bag will look great! dont forget to show us a pic! *~*
Thank you so much for sharing!

  32. I have those Spin Pins too! XD Cute Halloween decorations! Thank you for the scans, doll!

  33. lychee says:

    Happpyyy Halloween !!! …

it has been a while to visit your blog …. gosh … missed out so many posts from you …
    i guess u must be doing well … ^^ anywhere …
still love your outfit always … mix & match perfectly … =)

  34. Courtney says:

    Hope your Halloween was great!!

Aww, you plugged my card! (lol) I’m hoping to do a Christmas card exchange as well :)
And I love how the kitty card matches it…?! ahahaha

How did you enjoy the Rally?? To be honest, I was…underwhelmed? I had no idea what to expect, but that was definitely NOT what I expected haha.

The bun look is great–when my hair grows out again I’ll try those! I’m super curious how they work, too. :) Also like the hairstyles in PopSister! *missing my hair* :P

    • jenny says:

Of course! I’m already planning on sending a card (at least, tee-hee)

Did you end up actually making the drive to the rally!? OMG!!! I couldn’t have imagined not being from the area and trying to deal with the insane beltway & metro. We went & caught up at Mike’s bro’s apt which is on a less popular line and even though it was 3 stops from the end it was PACKED when it got to us!!! And getting back we decided to walk further out to another metro stop where it wasn’t so busy. I even had coworkers who said they couldn’t get into the downtown area for the rally due to insane traffic jams.

Hum, I think I didn’t expect much entertainment-wise so I wasn’t too disappointed. I loved the Ozzy & Cat Stevens thing but the rest was “meh.” I didn’t care 1 way or another. We ended up walking around a bit during the end, just trying to get to the other side of the mall & lol’ing at people attempting to climb the trees and ambulances! Talked to a cop and asked if they ever arrest those climbers. They said they ALWAYS get arrested because they ALWAYS need help down and the cops are the only ones willing to help them but then they arrest them after they get down, hahahahaha!

      • Courtney says:

I actually replied to this unintentionally in my newest comment (after this one, obviously :P ) but LOL at the cops and climbers!! That is FABULOUS.

Ps I love being in the area when there’s an event you want to go so you know the back roads and shortcuts. :)

  35. Nicole says:

wow! thanks for the scans i’m really inspired now! I missed this blog, somehow it’s not updating on my news feed :

  36. haneul says:

HAPPY LATE HALLOWEEN. and HELLO NOVEMBER. :)
I absolutely love your looks. :) a touch of sophisticated, chic, and maturity. Thanks for introducing the spin pins. xD I suck at tying my hair in a bun especially since I don’t really have much hair. :0

    • jenny says:

That’s really nice of you to say, I really appreciate it! I never know how to “describe” my outfits, but you’re good at it! XD

Ack, I’ve had short hair a lot too so I feel your pain. It’s always a frustration when you want to put it up.

  37. Shiri says:

Love the photos, scans…oh and the hair bun! Very cool.

  38. Nancy says:

Happy Late Halloween :D! Seems lke you have lots of fun :O! YOur pictures are really really nice :D! I love the post card with the kitty :D! He looks like my kitten :O!!! I always want to decorate my hair. Or something. But All that I like so far is the curls :P!

  39. Kat says:

I bought those swirly things at Target and now my hair is too short to do it. Well, maybe not short, but thin? :(

I can try again, but you can still see the swirly if I do put it in.

    • jenny says:

Awe no :(. Doesn’t sound like it’s really workin out for you, but it’s Target which is easy to return things to, still have the receipt!?

  40. LovelyKimi says:

    im sorry jenny thank you

  41. mishi says:

Woah, that’s a lot of scans! How did you like the rally? =3 wish I could have gone~ Did you make any funny signs?

  42. Kym says:

    Just kidding! hahaha! ;P

That hair-twist-bun contraption looks kind of intimidating… but i definitely need one. I’m the same… i need at LEAST 10 bobby pins to keep things in place. I tried that sock in the hair bun trick and it doesn’t work so well for me… especially since my hair is in layers so you get them sticking out everywhere (hence the need for 10+ bobby pins) O.O

    • jenny says:

Sock trick!? Never heard :O, I’m guessing it doesn’t work too well. Layers are such a pain but my hair looks like crap if I don’t have a lot of them so… lose lose.

  43. rene says:

sorry I haven’t been commenting much! But I’ve been reading your posts! I’m clearing a lot of stuffs for work(it is actually a career move)and auditing!

As always, you are looking so cuuuuttee in the outfit snaps!

  44. Jamie says:

Your coding and layout is always so cute! Could you do a mini blog post on how to code that calendar you’ve added to your sidebar? It would be such a nice tutorial :)
