Comme des Garçons Play Border Tee

Friday May 27, 2011

I’ve been inspired by my Tumblr dash but I don’t think I’ve ever purchased anything directly because of it. Until now! :celebrate:

I saw this La Garçonne link roll through with a Comme des Garçons PLAY tee and it was such perfection I began dwelling on buying it for a few days, then, I finally did! :)

It’s a long sleeved tee with blue and white border. :deco12: I should stop buying border items but it’s practically my shtick at this point. I actually wore it to work yesterday despite it literally being 90F. It’s always freezing in my office. :deco13: Sure enough it still got so cold in the office I had to put on a cardigan :P. Waiting for the train wasn’t too bad either. :sunny: Just pushed the sleeves up. It’s a pretty breathable tee so I’ll be at least wearing it to work this summer or out at night with a skirt/shorts. ::9: :deco2:

Just a little back story, Comme des Garçons is a Japanese brand who make a less “couture” line of tees, cardigans, sweaters, etc. called PLAY. Always marked with the infamous red heart eyes logo.

Well TGIF long weekend time! :celebrate: I already got home & immediately took a nap today. :ok: About to go to bed still though. Catch up on sleep. :deco16: Not sure what I’ll be doing tomorrow~~ play it by ear because it’s likely to storm some more! :?: :rainy: NIGHT~~ :deco16:

Ohhhh I love Comme des Garçons! I love border style, too! This top is super cute. So is the coord~ I love the outfits you can wear to work!

    • jenny says:

Thanks so much!! Yea sometimes I choose to dress a little more me. I often get comments when I do but it’s not technically against the rules or anything and I tend to do it on days I don’t have any meetings. :)

  2. Sidney says:

ooooh that logo is EVERYWHERE in korea. and most of it is all rip-offs ahaha. i acutally thought it was a korean brand at first just because i saw it so much.

and i ALMOST bought a shirt that is a rip-off of the one you bought! your outfit with it is adorable~ really cute office look

    • jenny says:

Ha! I saw Korean rip offs online actually! I was like $20??? HEEEEEEY NOOOOOOW hahahaaa! A part of me was like “hmmm, I could have just bought this one….TOO LATE NOW!”

Thanks! I had a few comments about my outfit at work but nothing too bad. They’re like always obvious statements “You’re wearing red shoes like Wizard of Oz,” etc etc =Y I feel like I just humor people with my presence sometimes lol

  3. Tori says:

It’s so you~~! :D I love it~ I didn’t know this brand was Japanese, thanks for the info!

    • jenny says:

No problem!! Thanks for the link to that droptokyo site!! When I saw that girl I was like OOOOOOOOOOH SNAP what a coincidence as I was all high over my shirt coming in still *saves image forever* lololololol

  4. cin says:

Waa! I love Comme des Garçons too!
My friend in Sendai introduced it to me when we went shopping~~ but the prices is x_x

    • cin says:

I love your cord too! :D

    • jenny says:

Yea it is. I was talking to Mike about buying it & he reminded me that I had made up my mind to choose quality over quantity months ago. Instead of buying 100$ worth of Forever 21 tops that wear out quickly and get tossed out in 1 season I’d buy 1 item of something I TRULY wanted and would last me through multiple trends & looks. I was like, “Yeah, I said that, but actually changing over to that state of mind is a bit difficult because I’m so used to only buying off clearance rack!” But after it came it I felt SO good.

I used to easily spend the same amount on “cheap” clothing because I’d say “no” to the $100 top b/c (wow so much for 1 item) but then turn around & buy a bunch of cheap tops I hardly put thought into (because, you know, so cheap right who cares if I don’t LOVE it) but then I end up donating them just a few months later b/c I hardly wore them or the had pilings or tears already.

OK, I’m rambling b/c it’s late for me LOL

      • cin says:

Yesss!! I know how you feel!
I’m trying to change my shopping habit too. I’m a hoarder so I tend to buy lots of cheap clothes rather than spend the same amount on 1 piece of clothing that is of a better quality.. It’s getting better now at least~ I’ve got some classic pieces that I spent more than usual on that I can re-wear for a long time :)
But I still hoarded heaps of clothes in Japan though XD But Japanese brands tend to have good quality anyway~

  5. emylie says:

    Cute outfit!
It’s funny, I got the male version of that shirt for my boyfriend last week :3

  6. vickyy says:

    Uwaaahhh!~

  7. Charlene says:

Bah Jenny it said it was going to storm all week and it’s been nothing but hot hot hot. Just watch…we’ll get this…super…scary storm roll through eventually, haha. Enjoy your weekend! I at least get Sunday off. :D

  8. Vermillion says:

I love their PLAY line! Though my friends always say that the heart looks creepy lol. I’ve always wanted to buy their items but I’m unsure of ones that ship to Australia. And that there are a lot of fakes around =_=

    Cute outfit ^^

  9. lissy says:

cute outfit, and i love your new top :D

  10. Hayley says:

Haha awesome! I have been eyeing off this shirt for a while now. So cute! I sometimes think you and I must be long-lost twins or something, between the clothing taste and the Japan love and the Doctor Who (which PS how good is this season??)

    Anyways, love the shirt!

  11. Leslie says:

So lovely! I’ve been a big fan of CDG for so long. :) It looks soo great on you!

  12. kamille says:

I really don’t have self restraint after reading your blogs :) I think it’s good to invest in quality items. I got so disappointed when I bought some cheap wholesale products awhile back. I also stopped looking at F21’s site, it’s so tempting online and at store! I seem to regret the majority of my purchases there. So now I’m really looking forward to clothes I would actually wear and enjoy :) p.s. the heart is fun and quirky!

    • jenny says:

Ugh THE REGRET. Yes!! I felt like that for so long in recent months. I decided to just stop spending on a bunch of cheap items & save for 1 or 2 better quality items instead. The online shops though are so… I dunno, not deceiving but everything looks GOOD QUALITY online you know!? And it’s tempting! But when you WALK into F21 lately it really does look poorly made. I don’t know if it’s me or them. So far I’m happy with the change. I’m not spending any more than usual (but I guess I’m not saving either.) But it’s good to not have 5 new tops I only sorta like and will fall apart and instead have 1 I love & will last.

  13. Thuy An says:

  15. jayjayne says:

OH HOW I LOVE THIS TOP!

I must go on a shopping frenzy to find some!

  16. M says:

nice! it’s definitely a must buy, i hope to return to japan some day and purchase a lot of CDG items
the mark ups are ridiculous online, but that’s actually a pretty reasonable price that you got at
    :D

    • jenny says:

Yea actually I looked a little around online before I got it and other stores like Nordstroms etc were charging more like 150$ so seemed like a little perk :D

  17. miss wave♪ says:

Your work coord is really cute! Also so is your room. :X

My coworkers almost had an out-of-body when I wore color the other day, though. Really.

And they aren’t related to COMME ÇA are they? Totally thought it was a branch brand when I first saw it.

    • jenny says:

Ah thank you! It’s my closet! I love it but I don’t utilize it enough for photos I think :)

LOL a coworker yelled at me “WHAT ARE YOU WEARINGGGGGG!” Then came up to me and poked my heart logo…. yeah. We office life LOL

Doesn’t look like the two brands are related *looks at the wiki link*

  18. Willa says:

Really cute! I really love Commes de Garcons, but their items are so expensive.

  19. Amanda says:

I LOVE your outfit as always! ♥ Been looking for a skirt like that!

I’ve started to blog in English again, I haven’t had time to design the English blog yet except making a background of ginko-leafs so it’s a work in progress. ♥

    Really cute and simple stuff!♥
Your work outfit is cute too! Makin’ it work~~ lol

  22. Courtney says:

:D Nice! I like the simplicity of this brand. It’s not too loud or trying to do anything super unique and failing. :) And your work look is adorable. Very classic! & Classy!

    • jenny says:

      Classic AND classy!! Does that cancel out??? I hope not xDDDDD! Yea I would really love a sweater or cardigan but omg they’re like $300 ;_;

  23. Ada says:

love the work look. looks so damn comfy :D

    • jenny says:

It’s pretty comfortable :) I mostly just sit at a desk for 8 hours so it helps to not be too stuffed up on days I don’t have meetings or anything :P

  24. mika says:

Such a cute shirt, and I love how you paired it! I’ve always thought that skirts in that length would make one look like an old lady, but you just look super cute and chic!

    • jenny says:

Awe ty ty :) Yea I remember thinking this skirt was a fail option when I tried it on the day I bought it but I really like it for the office!

  33. Jenny says:

How much was the shirt? I’ve seen imitations in those Korean whole sale sites, but never figured knew how much the real one costs.

  34. bloomzy says:

    GORGEOUS~!!
I love ‘Commes des Garcons’ and this shirt is so cute. I really want the distressed looking tee that the girl you posted about before has on.

Your code for work is so simple, but chic!
I think you’d fit in perfectly here in Paris. They’d all be bugging you for style tips ;D
