New Cardigans

Monday May 30, 2011

I’ve been wearing these 2 new cardigans for the past couple of weeks. They’re both from Yesstyle. Yesterday’s is a pink lace cardigan. Soft and thin, I find it good for the heat lately. :ok: Great for taking with me into stores or restaurants where it tends to be much cooler than the 80+ degrees outside! :sunny: It hangs a bit lower in the back too and has little knitted pockets.

Cutout-Accent Knit Cardigan

from MoDN

The beige one I wore on last weekend’s train trip. It’s thicker. It has a really nifty cutout design along the collar and buttons. Like little cutout triangles! :deco10: It’s a shorter cardigan with a boxy, oversized shape. At first the material was a little scratchy but after washing it with woolite and liquid fabric softener it softened up. Lie flat to dry of course! :ok:

I only got the hang of washing wool sweaters/cardigans this winter. Before, I often made very bad mistakes and accidentally shrank some or caused pilings (fuzziness.) But I’ve gotten REALLY GOOD at washing them now! ::9: Even cashmere cardigans! I’m lucky my washing machine has a hand wash cycle. I used to have to always do them in the sink *water everywhere!.* :deco8:

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY ~~:deco12:
It feels like Sunday to me since I had it off. I hope that feeling continues so the work week will seem surprisingly short to me. I just finished a crazy late dinner. Sorta feel sick from eating so late. The night just sorta got away from us I guess! So I’m off to get ready for bed soon~~ :deco16:

Oh! I was looking at Pixie Market earlier and saw they had this new shirt in. IT’S SO CUTE! I didn’t buy it or anything, but thought it was adorable with the blue pinstripes and ruffles~! It’s sheer, I’d of course wear a cami underneath, haahaa!! I’m not some brave soul that opts for just a black bra or less :P:deco13:

I really like that pink cardigan~ lately I love pieces that have a longer ‘tail’ in the back, haha XD
That blue blouse is so you though! ♥ I didn’t even notice the pinstripes at first~ great detail.

    You have expensive taste!!

  4. cin says:

I love the crochet knit cardi! Very cute~
The cutout cardi is interesting.. XD I like the colour though!
I wonder if you can make these yourself.. I haven’t even finished Phil’s cardi I started last year though.. And I left it in Japan too so I can’t keep working on it!

What’s the secret of your washing wool technique? I must know! I tend to make my knitted stuff pile in the wash :(

I think the blouse will really suit you!

You definitely could knit it yourself without a doubt. I started a cardigan once. I just never finished. I always got bored with big projects.

A thanks but I’m not gonna buy the blouse, just admiring it :)

It’s not much of a secret really, just patience I think is the key and a GOOD drying surface. I finally got a laundry rack when I moved to my house. A cheap one from IKEA. I hand wash with Woolite (a detergent for delicates) only and add JUST a little liquid fabric softener if I find the sweater to be scratchy. I now have a washing machine that has a hand wash cycle & super low spin speed BUT sometimes, to get the water out, I’ll still instead lay the knit on a thick dry towel then roll the towel with the knit up like a swiss roll cake and press! This collects as much water as possible so it dries more quickly. Just reshape on a flat surface (preferable a laundry drying rack) and let air dry. To soften some up JUST A LITTLE MORE I’ll throw it in the dryer on NO HEAT with a fabric softener dryer sheet. for no more than 10 minutes. If the sweat is a fuzzy one I don’t EVER do this because it’ll “felt” the sweater.

i love that blouse from pixie market. and i think you could totally wear it just as she is – it looks classy despite being sheer. you just need a nude colored bra :) i myself totally want to recreate that outfit. too cute!

  6. lissy says:

    cute cardi’s :D

  7. So that’s how you soften scratchy wool. Man, I’m so slow. Hahaha!

    • jenny says:

That and sometimes, if the knit isn’t a soft fuzzy one, I’ll throw it in the dryer on No Heat with a fabric softener sheet for like 10 minutes \:D/

  8. Diyana says:

    I like the 1st cardigan~~

  9. L says:

Love the shape of that second cardi. I wish my washing machine had a handwash option. I dont know how to hand wash things… Any tips? :P

    • jenny says:

Find a sink, buy a detergent for delicates, be gentle and never wring out water. Instead press out (gently) as much water as you can in the sink. Then roll the garment up in a dry bath towel and press again (on the floor is fine) and repeat until the it is dry enough to lie flat or hang to dry :)

  10. Thanh Thao says:

Cute cardigans!! You give me inspiration for my next knitting project :-)

  11. Amanda says:

Love the cardigans! I might have to order something from yesstyle in the fall, they have so much great stuff! But I think I would have to pay taxes for it and it could get expensive >_

  12. Amanda says:

Oh darn! I used the wrong character in my comment, doh! The rest went something like this:

The shirt looks great too! I’m also like that, I wear a cami under stuff that isn’t that sheer even. But sometimes it can look good with a dark bra under something sheer..maybe I’ll get brave enough to try it (although it as to get warmer here first).

  13. felicia jade says:

    Gah !! Both are so cute o x o
You’re so lucky, I still have to wash some cardigans in the sink ; __ ; My apartment’s washing machine doesn’t have that option xD

    • jenny says:

I understand, I bought this washer simply because I LOVED all the extra delicate cycle options because I’m a handwashing fanatic! Spent many many years in a watery sink mess but it’s all worth it. Makes a garment last so much longer!

  14. rene says:

Jen! I just got back from Tokyo and got a Rilakkuma iphone cover as well! I’ll post it up soon!

I’m loving the first cardigan! It looks really sweet =)

  15. Alisa says:

    Hey Jen,

I’m always jealous when you show your new items ;P So many expensive things that I cannot afford.

    Jealous nyahaha :3~

  16. Veronica says:

    Nice!

Took many tries before my sweaters came out normal size, lol

    • jenny says:

A few years ago I had this 1 sweater in particular, BEAUTIFUL SNOWFLAKE SWEATER that I made baby doll size even though I thought I was following instructions. Le sad.

  17. Super cute cardigans! I really like the first one, and it comes in so many great colors!

  18. Rubi says:

Love that 2nd cardigan, looks so unique! you always have such great style!

    • jenny says:

Aw, thank you! Yeah. I was wanting a nice oversized beige cardigan and I loved the addition of this fun cutout detailing to make it not so boring. :)

  19. mommo says:

Korean product seems to be more famous these day? I still prefer Japanese products :) knitting cardigan is best but not does well to fat person, that’s sad :(

please show us your coordinate soon,i’m looking forward :)

    • jenny says:

I feel like Korean products might just be a little easier and cheaper to get in the US than Japanese clothing abd goods but it’s just my feeling.

  20. Sara Mari says:

Very cute cardigans, I like the design of the 1st one. But I can’t wear such cardis as that as I don’t want to add any more volume to my body haha! Also it was 82F here yesterday, I guess it’s getting to be too late for cardis now TT

    • jenny says:

Yeah I take mine with me into stores & restaurants despite the heat bc the AC usually leaves me feeling cold in sleeveless tops & shorts.

  21. [...] I couldn’t find the exact same cardi she has on Gmarket but I though this one’s nice and close enough! [...]

  22. Marin says:

Cute cardigans! I loved the colors.
And you look cuter and cuter every day! I’m crazy in love with your hair ♥

  23. Raine says:

I HAVE to have that pink cardi now. I can’t resist after seeing it this second time on your blog~

  24. Sakky says:

    Ohhhh~ I really like that first crocheted cardigan~ :3

  25. Bianca says:

Ugh you have such cute yet versatile pieces I am always on the lookout for the perfect oversized and slouchy sweater but doesn’t make you look fat…this seems to be a perfect combo :D

    • jenny says:

I really had that in mind too when I ordered this one since my day to day mood changes and so goes my sorta daily style with it, so I needed something that was basic but not too boring.

  26. Moni says:

Gurrrrrl, I saw “my washing machine has a hand wash cycle” and everything else blurred out of focus. WHAT?! They do this now??? What a life saver! Now I’m all excited to buy a washing machine… because I am way too lazy to hand wash stuff. :P

    • jenny says:

Oh yes! It’s one of the main reasons I went for my current washer & dryer about 4 years ago. They have even MORE cycles out now. Mine’s an LG front loading HE washer :)

  27. Amelia says:

The pink cardigan is so lovely!!! and it suits u well :)

  28. Courtney says:

I’m the same way… no matter how hot it is outside, there’s gonna be one store with the AC up way too high so I always bring a light jacket or cardigan with me :) I like your crocheted cardigan a lot! But I love the shape of your cutout one even more :) It’s very comfy looking!

  29. Sidney says:

waaaa i like your cardigan choices!! it’s already pretty much too hot here to wear cardigans except in the early morning or late at night booo T T

  30. Ys says:

Haha black bra or braless beneath that shirt??? Wow that would be quite a look hahaha oh dear ;)

I love the detailing on the second cardy. Very original :)

  31. stuffwedid says:

I love the Rilakkuma iPhone case! I got the Black one :-D!

  32. [...] The best quality one out of all of them! It’s reflected by the price though (~$10 more expensive).. So I guess I should be more careful next time~ This one is an exact copy of Jenny’s cardigan!  Same brand and all~ I’m definitely taking this with me to Japan! It might be nice to have if I was going out on long trips or at night~  [...]
