An Update on Various Things

Thursday June 02, 2011

So last summer I bought this $5 t-shirt while at the beach and meant to chop it up to make it more comfortable. So I finally did it for the upcoming visit and summer in general. Mike has the same tee in black. Couple twins. :P We’re gonna look so wonderfully douchey hahaha.

Some people were asking about what styles Sweet features. I really don’t have much scanned in but here are a few from the April & June issues. Sweet is a casual girly magazine for women ranging from early 20’s to 30’s. I’ll try to scan in BETTER examples soon.

Oh, reminds me, I wanted to show my Outlet Shopping get! :celebrate: This Kate Spade iPhone case was 50% off! Her stuff is OK sometimes. :deco11: I love the look of newsprint. And also I can enjoy the juxtaposition of a newsprint cover for an item essentially killing the print business. Just saying, it’s sorta cruel in theory!

The case is super secure and rugged too. Also easy to put on! Though when it vibrates on my office desk now it’s extra loud! I don’t care because I’m not gonna turn vibrate off lol. Desk neighbors can deal.

Then today I was super happy to see I got the summer edition of Used Mix! YES!!! WHOA, this one has SO MUCH MAKEUP!

AMO on the cover. There’s like a section called AMO BOOK in this issue showing her style, daily life, etc. I dunno… this cover shot,… lol

きゃりー is in this issue too. She’s all over lately in lots of magazines making the rounds.

Miho Tanaka meets Snidel “Summer Night” shoot~

Summer trend battle snap!! Hahahahaa~~~

Then also today I received this really cool and fairly large Hong Kong postcard from Emily!
THANK YOU DEAR~~~!

I might be offline the next few days. Gonna be busy

  2. Hayley says:

Ah snap, I have the Kate Spade iPhone case with spots on it!
Malaysia Airlines has mad cheap tickets to Japan from Australia right now (I bought some at like 4am today lololol insomnia shopping ftw) but I don’t know if they fly out your way…

  3. Vermillion says:

Too many cute fashion styles +_+ Thanks for sharing! I also love these posts ^^

  4. jayjayne says:

    YES, LOVE IT ALL.

Also, I love chop-shopping shirts for Profit.

    :D

  5. Tori says:

Love that Kate Spade iPhone cover~ the newsprint is so cute!
I hope you guys have a wonderful beach trip this weekend & stay hydrated!

  6. cin says:

Love what you did with the shirt! I must give it a try :D
    Have fun at the beach~

  7. sidney says:

Haha COUPLE T’S FTW! I have two with keunseok but we never wear them on the same day…booo haha

Also, this is sorta random, but I really enjoy watching your personal style evolve! This style is so fun and perfect for summer ♥♥ LOVE all the scans, ty for them~

    • jenny says:

Mike bought us matching owl ones but we never wear them at the same time too!!

You’re so nice t___t;; Actually I don’t feel it’s random. Lately I write posts about my “personal style” but never publish them because I figure it’s boring to talk about so in-depth =Y I was basically depressed winter was leaving and at a loss for what I would be wearing for spring. Things sorta worked out I guess :D~ Without me paying much attention.

  8. Courtney says:

Nice I like the scans you put in! I guess these are your favorite looks from SWEET?
Also it was a neat idea to cut up your shirt! I think I might be too afraid to do this on my own. What kind of cut do you make…exactly? lol

    • jenny says:

Some of these I really love like the makeup & Emi’s looks but I’ll be honest I had like NONE scanned in so I scanned in a couple of these like 5 minutes before posting. Pretty randomly LOL

For the shirt I recommend hoping on youtube for a quick visual. I just cut out the neck & bottom of this $5 tourist tee. I sorta hate how confining most t-shirts feel so I bought this with the soul purpose of chopping it :)

  9. L says:

Love your chopped up t-shirt! Great idea but I’d be too scared to do that to any piece of clothing. I wouldn’t know what I’m doing. XD

  10. Mommo says:

I found her nowhere not sure her name was takuneko? I followed her through ameba and Nom de plume (jp). Thats a cute Iphone case, now I want Iphone4 again :p

  11. fi fi says:

    Awesome shirt !! o u o
And the styles are so adorable ~ @ x @
    The makeup too

  12. Leslie says:

Wow I love the scans! So wearable and so cute. Also love your DIY cropped shirt. :)

  13. Honeydew says:

Omg, your long sheer skirt in the first pic, is it from yesstyle? Because I just received a similar one that I got from yesstyle a few days ago, lol.

  14. Veronica says:

I have that same chiffon pleat skirt in camel! YAY

Love those ideas – and the macaron MajoMajo cheek is the best blush I’ve ever bought *dies* (until I get Nars Orgams LOL)

    Have fun!

    • jenny says:

Awe camel, sounds like a nice color choice too! I recently got in the Apricot version of that blush. It’s nice and bold but still soft orange~! I’ve been wearing it all week!!! I haven’t used the puff though LOLOL using my brush instead. Do you use the puff? It’s so pretty I dun wanna mess it up hahahaaa

  15. Rubi says:

What a cute outfit! I think you guys will look very cute wearing matching shirts xD
I love the more mature look of these outfits! and the makeup looks very beautiful as well :)

    • jenny says:

Thanks, he wears his so much it’ll be easy to match up on days hahahaa!~~

Yeah I love the makeup section here. They were showing how to recreate their cover shot looks!

  16. Joyce says:

I have the latest Sweet issue too! I love the little bambi pouch + bracelet that came with the mag. Sweet’s style is feminine and girly, I’d have to say ;)

  17. savannah says:

random question, but what is your favorite hair website/magazine?

  18. Lapinou says:

Oh Amo and Kyary in Used Mix !! :D

  19. Cimone says:

I love the first outfit and your DIY shirt! The scans from Sweet are really inspirational, too- I may have to invest in a subscription.

It’s so funny to see Amo in Used Mix. She used to be one of my style icons back when I was into Kera, so it’s funny that her style has taken a similar direction to mine.

    • jenny says:

That’s always nice when a style idol changes with you! There are some past inspo models I do miss reading their blogs but their style is so different to mine now. :)

  20. ada says:

Whaaa what a nice and perfect for summer coordinate :D
Btw. how many iPhone cases do u have? :D

    • jenny says:

I really don’t know but someone IRL asked me that recently too LOL. I guess at this point “too many” is an appropriate answer! I have like 10~

  21. Thanh Thao says:

Now I’m inspired for new summer looks XD Great!

Oh we really have to exchange our addresses, I’d love to send you some postcards as well :P

  22. lissy says:

love your outfits, and that iphone case is so interesting :D

  23. chenyee123 says:

    Hello ;’D
Wow! I’m gonna get Mix Used summer edition too *V*
    I love AMO *heart*
anyway, your $5 shirt and skirt coordination reminds me of a shoot in Mina magazine, can’t remember which issue, but it looks so summer-ish and sweet!

    • jenny says:

Awe thank you~ I thought it looked summerish too :) Mina often has nice styles, though, I haven’t really looked through it in some time. It’s always been a good casual style magazine :D

  24. mei says:

    I love used mix ! :D but i can’t get it here :(
    Gonna download it :)

  25. Cecilia says:

GIRL!!!!!!! FJDSLAKFJDSAFDAS;LFDJSLA;FJSA DO I SEE SUZUKI EMI IN HERE?! A long time ago, I remember you didn’t quite like her! lool :) Nonetheless, I love the choices you picked here ^___^

  26. kamille says:

I freaking love emi’s style haha. I like the crop top and the maxi skirt coordinate, goes perfect together!

  27. Cindii says:

Haha, your turned the tshirt into something really cute. :3

  28. Amanda says:

Thank you for the scans!! I have read and subscribed to Kera and Fruids before – have you read them? I don’t like Kera as much anymore – it’s not my kind of style anymore I guess. I buy them when I visit my parents in Stockholm, I def look for sweet next time!! ^_^

    • jenny says:

Sure have! I never had a subscription but I’ve flipped through the first Fruits book & Fresh Fruits book years & years ago! Kera I’ve flipped through at the store back when I was reading only CUTiE & Zipper magazine :) I’m the same, CUTiE & Zipper weren’t my style after a while either.

  29. Amanda says:

And used mix too – looks so good!

  30. Dudu says:

Such a sweet blog! Love love love everything!!
Please visit my blog, I would appreciate the comments, and will follow back every new follower! Thanks =D

  31. sugarmouse says:

i think i’ve fallen in MAD like with your whole site!!! i absolutely love the way you blog and your iPhone kate spade cover is BOMB :D :D any way i could get one for my BlackBerry Torch, you reckon? lol.

ps: did you code the design for your blog all by yourself? or is this a pre-made template of some sort?

    • jenny says:

WOW thank you *blush* mega compliment :DDD

Yeah I designed the “artwork” cut it up, and coded it into a usable blog template I “built” from scratch myself. But it’s sorta a cheat because I’m a Web Developer so I guess you could say it’s what I do :P

      • sugarmouse says:

whoaa, i’m JEALOUS! :D actually considering going back to school to do graphic design just coz i can’t help envying all you cool cats’ blog/site designs. GAAH. did it take you long at all to do it? (like a week? a month? a year? *gaspeth*)

        • jenny says:

I usually do it in about 2 to 3 evenings graphics to finished template. I don’t get inspired much to change + with a full time job I’m quite busy.

  32. Huynh says:

    Thanks for the scans :)
I love going through Japanese magazines because I find their style or their outfits that is featured is more wearable outside. I usually read Seventeen and Marie Clarie but the fashion and makeup featured in there isn’t something I would wear when I go out.
Time to download new magazine scans :P

    • jenny says:

I haven’t seen a Seventeen Japan in some time. Well, the bookstore sells it of course but I haven’t flipped through it. What’s the makeup like these days in it xDD

  33. rain says:

omg new used mix! thanks for sharing the pics :)

ps, isn’t it published every other month now? i checked amazon.co.jp and it says “隔月刊” next to the publisher info :O

    • jenny says:

It’s bi monthly now & I appreciate you asking b/c when I got in this issue I said “hum… feels like I JUST got an issue in though, weird.” Your question sparked me to take a look & sure enough it’s no longer quarterly! They JUST changed it to bi monthly so there will be 6 issues a year now! :D

  34. rae says:

what a great post. thanks for posting so many images. i will be saving them, and using them as references when i get dressed in the morning! sadly, though, as much as i love maxi skirts, they are always too long for my 5ft frame. DDDD:

sweet magazine looks really great. it seems a bit similar to vivi, which is one of my favorite magazines. i like how it is girly but not overly overly girly, and how some of the styles could just as easily be found on nylon japan (my other favorite magazine).

    • jenny says:

Awe I feel ya, I’m 5′ 1″!! This actually isn’t that long too, it falls at my shins!!

I guess I would say Sweet is a slightly more mature version of Vivi though a lot of the looks could easily overlap.

  35. Janet says:

I use to have an OC shirt similar to that one and I almost bought those Target flops too x.x! Oh ohhh..makeup mag *love*! I like the outfits you posted too :D

  36. Tiff says:

Oh man i’m sorry i’ve missed so many posts… my offline life is hectic so I haven’t been commenting much sorry :(.

I absolutely love love LOVE Sweet magazine! I’m surprised that I like it because i’m not usually big on mags with expensive things in them but recently I noticed my style becoming way more mature and simple. Plus Kiko Mizuhara is in the magazine and I love Kiko :).

    • jenny says:

Sorry things have been so crazy for you lately. Hope you get a few moments to rest :)

      I feel the same. Usually I’m clearance rack buying at Forever 21 but now I don’t want gobs and gobs of cheap clothing but rather a few nice, simple but with a twist pieces that might be a bit higher on the price scale ^^;;

  37. Noora says:

Ooh, I had heard of Sweet before but after reading your blog (and seeing your posts about it) I have gotten very into it..! I think that I just MUST order their two newest magazines, eek (I also want their “reader gifts” from those magazines too badly, haha :—))! May I ask you that from which magazine (or rather issue) is that 3rd scanned page from (there reads “lesson”:))..?

(thanks for leaving a comment to my blog too, it made me glad ^^)
