Huge Bath Salts Post

HUGE I SAY!
Below I quickly review/describe/discuss the above 12 bath salts and additives. :ok: :deco2: Most are Japanese but two are US brands :deco10:

暴君ハバネロ お風呂用
Habanero Bath

This salt is produced by the food company Tohato who makes habanero themed snacks. Thickening type of sweat bath salt that makes the water feel thicker making your body heat up more. The scent is seasoned orange tomato. Smells so peppery!!!! I love it! Very earthy too. Has tomato & pepper extract. Blood red bath color. And salt has little gel like balls in it that stick to the tub and you. Just wipe away and mix into the water more.

Effective! Got really intense after a bit. Like whoa. :deco13: And my skin felt sorta spicy cool when I got out. Little too intense or just strange. Probably won’t buy it again. :deco13:

3 out of 7 on cosme.net though I think that’s a slightly different version

魔王ジョロキア お風呂用
Jolokia Bath

This sweat bath uses the theme of Jolokia chili pepper. Hottest pepper in the world. Also from the Tohato company. Black salt is a key added ingredient. Lemon Ginger scent smells great like candy lolol in the bag but in water you can really smell the germanium which smells like ass. :deco13: It’s not overpowering though, unlike other pure germanium baths. :ok: Water becomes a clear green. Effective!

Has a 3.5 stars out of 7 on cosme.net.

マグマ浴
Magma Bath

Firming and moisturizing sweat bath. Spicy and hot with a ginger scent! Amazing scent! Smells like spiced Xmas cookies though. More spice than just Ginger. Hot pink salts that turn the water clear orange. Contains germanium and a thickening agent. Ok super duper slimy!!!! More than any Bison brand version or other salt with a thickening agent! And the thickening water is crazy effective in making you sweat. Water is like when you first mix up gelatin powder. It’s liquid but it has this thicker consistency to it to the max. The bath water is like that. Not cooled ready to eat jello, please don’t think that, but the jello mix when you first add it to water. LOL! I LOVE thickening salts because they’re extra effective. Really get you sweating. I really liked this bath salt, I’d love to buy more. :ok:

爆汗湯 ホットジンジャー
Hot Ginger Sweat Bath

Bison Hot Ginger. One of the original types of Bison brand sweat baths. Amazing ginger smell. Thickening agent. Reddish orange clear water. Super effective. My all time favorite. :deco2:

4.4 on cosme.net

モロッコ 火山泥エステ 爆汗湯
Moroccan Volcanic Mud Sweat Bath

Moroccan Lava version of the popular Bison sweat bath salts. Super-potent invigorating scent of orange in sandy burgundy colored salt. Still has the crackling sound associated with Bison salts of course. Creates gray murky water. Like volcanic ash xD Orange extract for skin firming. Germanium, mineral water, and vanillin (for hot effect.) Very nice, wonderfully effective. :ok:

ゲルマバス
Germanium Bath

Color = clear rust
Smell = like mud or ass

For the serious sweat bather!

These were one of the first brands of “sweat bath” to come out and really push the germanium trend. They equate a 20 minutes soak in these salts to 20 minutes of aerobics.

Why for only the serious sweat bath lovers???

Well, 1: it’s intense and 2: it stinks. :deco13: If you’ve ever used a pure germanium product than you know what I’m talking about. It smells like sulfuric rock. Mud basically. So this won’t be for the girlie relaxing in a sweet spicy sweat bath moment. This is for the seriously “I want to lose as much water weight and get my heart pumping moment.” I’ve actually used a lot of salts from this brand before. Two years ago when I was using sweat baths along side working out and strict dieting. :ok: But now I don’t often feel I need SUCH a sweat bath in my life. But… There are always times for it :P. And absolutely be sure to have some cold water or some other 0 kcal drink with you when using this bath salt/rock! :ok:

どっ汗風呂 ゲルマ GE

Germanium themed sweat bath. Bright hot pink clear water. Strong floral scent. A bit of a generic blanket “floral” I don’t much care for. :deco13: Pretty effective. :deco2:

セレブー美艶バスパウダー
CELEBOO Beauty Bath Powder

CELEBOO[セレブー]美艶バスパウダー【入浴剤】
Skincare time, 30 mins! Super strong floral spa scent. White salt creates a milky white bath. Like bathing in Downy. ::9: Such intense fabric softener type scent! :deco8: Leaves you with super soft skin! :deco4: I really want to buy this again for a moisturizing bath! :deco2:

Skin Care Moisture bath

Uses germanium for sweating and firming effects. Royal rose scent. The scent is very faint though once added to the bath. Water is beautiful at first. :deco9: Like adding a sunset of red, yellow, and orange. Once mixed it’s a pretty, clear peach orange. Mildly effective. Cheap salt option.

Baby Bath Day

An incredibly mild bath salt for children or sensitive skin. Sanrio themed :deco8:

Vaseline Moisturizing Bath

Vaseline Intensive Care Moisturizing Bath Beads, Gentle Breeze

This bath salt has been around for a long time! I used to use it in college. If you’ve ever used Calgon bath salts this is a bit like that. :ok: The salts now resemble more of a fiber-glass look though. :deco8: The water is changed to a slight milky blue but very light. A nice moisturizing bath with a strong but not overpowering scent with hints of lavender, citrus and floral. This brand, however, used to be a much stronger salt leaving the water deep blue and strongly scented. I wish it was still like that, but it’s much more mild now.

It’s readily available in the US at stores such as Target, K-Mart, grocery stores, etc.

Patchouli/Sweet Orange

Aromatherapy Foam Bath Patchouli/Sweet Orange
Love, peace, and happiness

When I saw this I immediately thought, “OMG I wanna smell like a Hippie!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Haahaa, patchouli scented bath additive!? Well I HAD to buy it! :deco9: I found it in an organic-like grocery store. A Whole Foods type. I haven’t seen it before so I don’t know hoe easy it is to find. The brand is called Aura Cacia. Creates some foam but the strong energizing orange scent is mostly what you get. Water is a bit moisturizing. But… mostly just made my skin kinda itchy! LOL :deco13:

I get asked “where can you buy bath salts online?”
So here’s a short list! :deco8:

  1. Woah! What would you recommend for people who have dry skin? I have crazy dry skin :(

  2. Leslie says:

This is so great! I’m super interested in the hardcore sweat bath salts (especially since you mentioned using it with dieting and exercise.) Ahh gotta find them!
Have you ever used the Love Labo salts? I always like their packaging but am not sure about how effective they are (and you seem like the expert haha)

    • jenny says:

I have, I have! I remember them being very fragrant and the moisturizing version being pretty effective. The sweat version was mild but still effective too. But mostly they have AMAZING scents!

  3. Jenna says:

Wow, interesting! I’ve never tried one before, but I think I want to! :) How do you know when a salt bath is “effective”? Ahh, do you find that you really lose weight from using them?

    • jenny says:

When I say effective I mostly mean I was sweating like a madwoman! :D I compare it to the same temperature of hot bath without salts plus also past salts I’ve tried. I’ve been using them for, wow, like 3 years now constantly so I’ve gotten a good feel for what is & isn’t effective for me. And also when I can or can’t see results. I’m sure maybe for other people it’s more or less effective because you just never know.

Yes! You lose “weight” but not fat weight, water weight. It does also burn slightly more calories than sitting in a “warm” bath. Because the water gets so hot & the minerals cause your skin to feel hot, your body is working harder to regulate your temperature thus slightly more calories are being burned. :) Not a lot, but more than usual. And because your losing water weight, sweating, etc. it’s good to have a cold water to drink with you to replenish. Don’t want to dehydrate.

Mostly these shouldn’t be a cure-all for losing weight. For me it’s relaxing, it’s a feeling of detox and stress release, but it’s also to lose a little extra water weight too if I’m planning to go to the beach the next day and want my skin to appear slightly firmer and tight. This is why I also massage my legs while doing a sweat bath. It really does make a difference in the appearance of my legs. No swelling :) Usually I do a sweat bath twice a week and just regular hot baths at least 2 other times a week. When I skip doing ANY hot bath for 1 week I “gain” a couple of pounds of water weight back until I begin doing hot baths again.

  4. Mika says:

Thank you so much for compiling this! Some of the packages make it look and sound kind of scary and super intense, but I really like the sound of the magma bath and the hot ginger sweat bath.

    • jenny says:

Not so much scary, though the idea of sitting in habanero could be…. LOL but “intense,” ah yes! Some really are! It’s sorta masochistic in a way I guess LOL xDD

  5. Hannah says:

I love bath salts!!! I could just lay in the bath and fall asleep. ^__ ^

    I am thankful I am moving to an apartment that has a bath tub. My last place just had a shower. ;.;

    (I don’t know how I survived. )

    • jenny says:

AH SO NICE!! I still hate my college years in dorms without tubs. I remember finally getting into the upperclassmen single dorms where you got your own private bath WITH tub and was SO HAPPY. I’ve always been a bath person too! *high five*

  6. Souno says:

I want some Bison ones. The salt has really pretty colors.

  7. amber says:

omg this review was so helpful! queen of bath salts…ahaha
i’m trying the bison bath salts very soon!

this is kinda off topic but it would be cool if you ever did a comparison of the different japanese mags you read as well! like the audience and what major features the mags you’ve read has (to help people know what mag they prefer reading??) thanks :D

    • jenny says:

Hmmm~~ Sounds intense haha. Because there are sooooooooo many magazines out there and I don’t really like coming off sounding like some expert or anything because I’m not. So I tend to just focus on blogging magazines with style I personally like since this is just a personal diary blog. .. BUT!

This link would probably be just as helpful actually!

  8. Tiffany says:

Thank you so much for this review! I’ve been looking to buy some bath salts and now I know which ones to try! That habanero one looks intimidating though o_O

  9. kaoru says:

THIS is great! thanks for the review n links!!! would love to try the Baby Bath Day sometime!

  10. rachel says:

so what are the benefits of sweat baths? i’m intrigued now.. you sold me at “working out and strict dieting” and “20 minutes soak in these salts to 20 minutes of aerobics” haha and i LOVED this list! :3 do you think you could do another one like this but for face masks?

  11. Diyana says:

This is a super great post! I want to try sweat bath salts but sad thing, my washroom doesn’t have a bathtub!

  12. Ellie says:

I.. I can imagine myself panting and swearing at the water for being too hot. Oh gosh. But anything for the diet! :P Thanks so much for this, Jenny :)

  13. sukipooki says:

These are crazy bath salts~!!! I’ve never tried anything that makes the water turn jello like!!!

  14. miney says:

I din know got this type of slimming product. Look like scary but I think I wanna try it out. Thanks for sharing !
    3lin

  15. Miho-chan says:

    Ohhh that looks H.O.T!!! >w

  16. Veronica says:

I love these :) The chili ones almost made me pass out lol

    Great post!

    • jenny says:

They’re crazy right!? Yeah those one’s were so intense like WHOA. Sorta a bit weary a food company putting something out you soak your entire body in LOL

  17. Charlene says:

Mm I’ve tried the Aura Cacia mineral bath not the foam, and I love the scents. Semi-moisturizing but I normally do baths like these to just relax and clear my head. You can find Aura Cacia at Giant and I found more of a selection at Mom’s organics grocery store. :)

    • Charlene says:

OH! And if you go to Whole Foods they have like….a really nice section (in my annapolis whole foods they did anyway) of bath bombs and jars of salts, you can fill up your own. I really wanted to get a cupcake shaped bath bomb *P* Next time, haha. Though I tried a seaweed something bomb and I loved it.

    • jenny says:

I dunno if I’d try anymore by that brand. Did the salts leave your skin itchy at all? I had to shower after the foam one my skin itched so badly ;(

      • Charlene says:

I haven’t had a problem with the mineral bath. I’d have to test out a foamy one and see if I’d get the same reaction. :o!

  18. britney says:

how do you keep your bathtub from getting salt stains, i’ve always had that problem :(

  19. Susann says:

Wow…I have never heard about sweat bath salts…now I feel like trying one! Great post!

  20. Tori says:

The sweat baths always sound so interesting to me, but then slightly scary hahaa XD

  21. Betty says:

Yay! I love bath salts. Thanks for the extensive review :) My bf got me hooked on these and I love the Bison brand too.

  22. L says:

So many bath salts! Which one is your favourite?

    • jenny says:

The original Bison Hot Ginger is definitely one of my favorites! My favorite of all time was a “wine” themed salt I bought which visiting Mt. Fuji. I could never find it for sale online x( Must have been local/rare.

  23. Katie says:

Thanks for all of these reviews! I’m going to have to grab some of the sweat bath salts and give them a try. I don’t know if I could go for the hot pepper ones but the magma bath sounds nice with the ginger scent. :)

  24. Maikue says:

Yay! Bath salts!! I’ve always loved your Bath Salt reviews. :D

I’ve been wanting to know how those Bison brands work for you. I actually just started getting into bath salts because of my dry skin from the hard water we get here in the midwest.

I think I might just go for some of the moisturizing and sweat baths!! I was wondering why I’d get this slimy coating on my skin while soaking. If that’s what you are referring to when you describe it as ’slimy’..

Anywho, I really appreciate your reviews! Thanks!

  25. heather says:

late comment here BUT I wanted to thank you for this review. It led me to discover that the cosmeland store is only 30 minutes away from me! I’m so excited to try those brutal geranium bath salts.

  26. Courtney says:

I WAS SO EXCITED TO SEE THE TITLE OF THIS POST! Ahahaha I have no idea why I love to live vicariously through these bath salt posts so much lol. Maybe because I love the idea of bathing but never find it to be all that I hoped when I actually hop in.

  27. jenny says:

You get used to it, like building up a tolerance.
