Saturday in Photos

Sunday July 31, 2011

This was Saturday :deco8:

Lunch – Gumbo & Fries :hungry:
I usually only order a cup but I was starving so I got a bowl instead, but of course I couldn’t finish it. My eyes were bigger than my stomach. Something my grandmother has always said was a problem of mine :?:

Tea shop
I like this little shop, zen tara tea. For summer it is wonderful because I don’t like iced coffees much, so I can get fresh brewed genmaicha iced instead. :deco7:
They’ll ice any tea for you. :deco2:
But they also serve iced coffees, sweets, sushi, sandwiches~
Last time I visit I bought a bag of Rose Earl Grey tea which has been delicious.
Teas and tea ware are all through the store down the side hall.

I’m not big on ice coffee either! Probs because I don’t like adding so much cream to make it palettable.

The tea shop is so charming!

    • jenny says:

It’s a really cute shop with a ton of “zakka” style items for sale too. I would drink more coffee if it agreed with me better I think =Y. I dunno, love/hate coffee relationship LOL Tea is such an easy going drink to go for instead :P

  2. Leslie says:

Haha my mom always tells me “my eyes are bigger than my stomach!”
I loveee earl grey and rose earl grey sounds even more amazing.

  3. miney says:

i love the tea pot…is really cute

  4. Firipa says:

i’m crazy about tea. i love it, hot, cold, iced. earl grey always smells so nice, one of my fav, i never tried it with rose though! but i have tried it with lapsang and its wonderful. give it a try if you like a stronger taste ;)

  5. Souno says:

Its so pretty there! Gah! I want your bag x.x

  6. Elisa says:

I have a bag which is quite similar to yours =’D like it !! a bit vintage style ^^ hehe.. lovely picturesss

  7. Jean says:

Coffee is awesome, how dare you! :p Haha.

And ohhh the gumbo and side of fries look so yummy. o_o My Mom also tells me that my eyes are bigger than my stomach. She should talk – she’s the same way!

Also, your top is really cute. :)

  8. Sara Mari says:

Oh it’s nice there was some difference in the bowl and cup sizes, and bowl really meant bowl haha. I feel like cup usually mean a “shot” and bowl size means cup size from the places I’ve been.

And it’s great you have a real tea shop nearby. I often take for granted how ubiquitous cafes and tea shops are here, when back home you have to go to specific areas of downtown to find something like that usually.

    • jenny says:

Since it’s a southern food restaurant it is using the terms from the originating local. In the south, gumbo is always served as bowl & cup and not “large or small.” And when you order “cup” it is most often literally served in a cup :)

  9. Michelle says:

Oh I absolutely love the tea place and the self portrait! I also like the last photo of your bag. :3 *Swoon*

    • jenny says:

My baaaaaag. I think this is my most favorite bag I’ve had in a long long time. It’s become more of a partner in crime than a useful tool xD

  10. Malin says:

OMG! Your bag looks awesome! :D

  11. Ellie says:

I absolutely laaaaaahhhhhvvvv your eyes in the second last photo :) And the first one is so pretty! Very paris ;)

  12. emmy says:

I always love seeing your picture stories! It makes DC look so pretty

    • emmy says:

Woops :P the rest of that comment was- my boyfriend and I will be taking a road trip up to DC in August, could you recommend any nice areas of the city to stay in/visit (other than the obvious must-see destinations lol)? I don’t know very much about the city :3

      • jenny says:

        A road trip huh?

Well I hope Georgetown is on a must see area but be sure to diverge down onto the side streets while there for nice cafes and boutiques!

Also keep in mind so much in the area in free, including the zoo and all Smithsonian museums. The National Botanical gardens are often overlooked but it’s a really lovely little place to visit right near capitol hill.

There are quieter but nice areas outside of the main National Mall. Such as Old Towne Alexandria which you can take by metro. Lots of places to eat there including a speak-easy! Plus great if you just like to stroll. I’m not sure what you guys like to do so I’m not sure what to suggest LOL

There’s a lot of restaurants I could suggest. From Ben’s Chili Bowl to a selection of liquor spiked milkshakes having places :P

    • jenny says:

I’m glad!! This is actually in Bethesda but still in the DC Metro area.

  13. Jing says:

I’m not a coffee drinker either. I think tea is a healthier choice anyway. A lot of people at my work drink coffee none stop, and it scares me a little LOL. Anyway, that tea shop looks very quaint. I love places like that :)

    • jenny says:

I’m a flip flopper. I get bored with one & switch to the other. But coffee often doesn’t settle well in my stomach, so I tend to drink tea more.

  14. Tori says:

Your hair is SO cute like that ♥ Great photos as always~!

  15. Kate says:

    Jenny~ You’re so cute ^^
I’ve been a lurker on your blog for a while (sounds creepy, sorry o.o)
and I really admire your sense of style!
Also I got inspired to explore magazines other than Popteen and PopSister~
I look forward to your posts everyday :3

    • jenny says:

Hello Kate, thank you so much for that, I really appreciate it! I’m glad I could introduce new magazines as well! I like to find inspiration all over even though PopSister & Popteen are both great too :) It’s fun to get an idea of current fashions in all ranges \:D/

  16. Betty says:

Such great photos! I love your sense of style *heart* I’ve successfully weened myself off coffee but I don’t think I can ever say goodbye to tea.

    • jenny says:

      Thank you dear :P

      Were you quitting because of caffeine?? I do love coffee but the caffeine and unsettled stomach woes often become too much for me so I too switch off. But then suddenly I’ll find myself back on it! True addiction =_=;;

  17. Christine says:

    u look adorable…

  18. Susann says:

seems like a nice saturday! By the way, some other questions that I thought about while browsing your posts…where do you always take the pictures of yourself (the two last photos)? Is it a walk-in closet?
And another question: what do you wear to sleep? And how much do you usually sleep, any kinds of rituals there (like reading in bed or something?) – if it’s to personal, I understand. But it would be an insteresting post :)

    • jenny says:

For the first question, yes, it’s a walk in closet. But the second set of questions… the more I think about it the more I feel inclined to ask whether or not you might be the Georgetown Cuddlier! =Y

      • Susann says:

the what? sorry I don’t know what you mean…sorry if I insulted you or something :( it was just something I was wondering about, I should not have asked that :(

        • jenny says:

Yea sorry, it sorta creeped me out a little, even if you didn’t mean too =Y

          • Susann says:

I understand (that’s why I added “if it’s too personal, I understand” in my original comment) – I was only wondering because I am always very cold when tired and currently searching for the perfect sleep wear to keep me warm all night, that’s how I came up with the question. I really did not mean it in a creepy way :(
I hope you still like me commenting on your blog, I really adore your sense of style

          • jenny says:

Well that explanation is much, much more appropriate, though it wasn’t just the asking what I wore (because I could understand that, like, any suggestions for cute pajamas,) but asking for how long I sleep & bedtime habits altogether sorta put me at unease. Sorry. Sometimes I feel maybe I already share too much of my personal life and I don’t want to put myself or my family at risk.

          • Susann says:

sure, I understand if things are too personal to share. (maybe I somehow did not have the idea it could be too personal, because you shared the bath stuff). But it’s good if you’re careful with what you are telling and not telling. I did by no means want to offend you.
            I hope we’re fine now :)

  19. ada says:

Hahaa I have the same problem. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach. I’m very greedy :(

Whoaaaaa this shop is amazing. I’m obsessed with different flavors of tea recently!
and u look cute as usual :D

  22. Kim-Mari says:

… LOL a bit of a late comment into the fray, but I just have to ask…

Where did you get your fab brown bag? I know you’ve mentioned it before… well I think you have?!?

Hurr, I’ve set my fiance the Xmas Wish List task of finding me the perfect brown handbag … I wouldn’t mind poking him in the right direction~ ;D

  23. Courtney says:

    Beautiful photos~
The tea shop looks like a fantastically cute place to sit and relax. :)
And agreed! This little Japanese cafe nearby used have an iced royal milk tea I loved and even forked over $4 for. haha Too bad it went out of business :/
Oh, your bag’s fantastic! I bought a similar one from Urban Outfitters not all that long ago. :) I love it esp for the mori girl look! :D
