H is for Hinata

This week I learned about the SCP (Super Control Panel) display mode in my E-PL2 and have been playing with the more precise controls over contrast, saturation, gradation, and sharpness to name a few. I decided to try and emulate the E-P2’s art filter “Pale & Light Color” which isn’t included in the E-PL2 :ng: lolol
Hinata is a very very tiny shop/eatery. They actually sell a few bath items my usual Japanese Market doesn’t carry. I picked up 4 boxes of Kracie’s travel-themed bath salts based on popular onsen throughout Japan.

I picked up
Beppu (Oita prefecture, woodsy scent,)
Noboribetsu (Hokkaido prefecture, light floral scent,)
Hakone (Kanagawa prefecture, fresh herb scent,) and
Shirahama (Wakayama prefecture, fresh floral scent.)
Apparently Shirahama is their “Top Seller!” :)

tell me what the diff between “light floral scent” and “fresh floral scent” is when you use em hahah
Pity comment bc no one loves me x(
Lololol
Un duh obviously the difference is “freshness”
Does Hinata serve good food?
I love eating at really tiny, hidden away places~! Sometimes they have the best food. My friend and I love to go to this little Korean family restaurant in our city — it feels like you’re eating at someone’s house. The lady who cooks also serves and walks around the restaurant and kitchen in house slippers. And there was a tv in the corner that was showing, of all things, a Bonanza marathon, last time we were there. o.o I loved it. The food was great and the atmosphere was super cozy.
The bath salts look really interesting — I’ve never tried bath salts before! But if I tried these, I think I’d try the Shirahama or Hakone one.
I totally agree. Usually the smallest places have the BEST food! Unfortunately I don’t know if this place does. They’re positioned next to two of my favorite restaurants so I’ve never given them a try.
When I read this entry it reminded me of the pleasant weekend I spent at an ryokan at Shirahama. There were delightful onsen too ♥
Awe fantastic! Their commercial actually showcases these salts being used to bring back memories just like that!!
I was saving up for a Nikon D-90 but every time you update this challenge, I want an Olympus a little more.. Lol
I shopped at Hinata only once, but it was a really nice shop..! :D
Awe well, I love my Pen, it’s a good in-between of a point & shoot & DSLR :3 Definitely choose whichever fits your lifestyle best!
You’ve shopped here!? It’s such a tiny spot it’s sorta amazing to know someone else has been here! I go here because they sell the canned coffee a little cheaper than others :P
Yea..! I used to live near Silver Spring Station when I was still in school, so I was always somewhere off the metro line Lol Unfortunately, all the shops like this were on the other side of the red line from my apt D: so I had to pick up stuff from my PT job instead (Ginza) lol
Part time job at a place called Ginza? Am I reading that right? What and where is that :D?
Ah..! Sorry about the super slow response =__=
Yea, It’s a small shop in Du Pont Cir called Ginza. Selling Japanese.. stuff Lol Mostly old furniture and house wares, but some pop culture things.
Oh I think I’ve heard of that back when I first moved here but can’t be sure it’s the same place. I’ll try to remember to keep my eye out next time I’m at Dupot!
Your new camera is seriously all kinds of amazing ♥ Love the lighting of this mode.
Ah thank you dear! Thankfully it’ll allow me to save settings so I can switch easily from one to another after I find a good “sweet spot” combination of various options.
I can’t say that I like your camera enough~~ *camera envy*
But please do go oooooon, LOLOLOL just kidding. I feel the same. This “challenge” really keeps me motivated plus realize just how much more I have to learn about this camera!
Such lovely photos! *O* I really want to try the Noribetsu salts, because the scent sounds nice and I really miss Hokkaido! XD
They’re great little relaxing bath salts :)
I love floral scents but I’m so curious about all these woodsy scents…I looked at some of the bath sites you posted awhile back and so many of them are like “forest scent”
They mimic pine or cypress usually~
Oh! nice! :D
