Bath Salts, IKEA Things, Hair Ties

Monday January 23, 2012

A sort of hodgepodge of images. This weekend was pretty bleak with snow and ice since Friday night. :deco11: Even getting to work this morning was ice-crap-tastic. So I just want to post a few catch-up photos.

At New Year’s I ordered a restock of a ton of sweat baths plus some of the new Bison bath salts. Got them at imomoko.

Reordered a lot of my favorites plus a few new ones to try. :ok:

Also wanted to share what I did with that IKEA stuff I bought for my cubicle. Keep in mind I work in an older government building where the main colors include maroon, brown, and gray. The stuff I got helped spruce it up a bit I think. I’m really happy with it and if I ever get tired of it this stuff will fit into my home decor easily! :deco7:

I wish the photos had come out better but florescent lighting just sorta kills everything. :deco13: Mostly my work materials are on the top shelf and in the magazine files. I now have my tea in the rose containers. I cleared away a lot of old work documents and put them into proper drawers leaving room for photo frames and a bit more open space. Seeing a stack of papers all the time was really a downer. Clutter can feel like such bad energy sometimes. So putting them up, away in file cabinets, was long overdue.

Lastly, these Emi-Jay hair ties!

I bought these over a month ago… I LOVE THEM. I got them at South Moon Under. They’re perfect. They don’t pull my hair when removing but still stay in place for high ponytail looks. I usually get headaches quickly from having my hair pulled back, these don’t give me bad headaches at all. Not to mention they’re lovely aesthetics. They’re sweet to wear around the wrist as an emergency hair fix!

I picked up the “METALLIC COLLECTION” version. I would actually purchase another pack. So far they really last. The ends are fraying just a little on the silver one which I wear the most but they’re secure and wouldn’t need replacing very often. I felt sorta stupid at first spending $12 on hair ties :deco13: but looking back it was totally worth it and I’d do it again. Actually I’ll probably pick up more eventually! :deco2:

What’s that plant with the curly stuff? It’s so cute!

  3. Tiffany says:

Hehe, I always love your bath posts! I haven’t been to the store lately to check out any bath salts, I’ve been going crazy on LUSH lately. Those new Bison salts look so pretty, the packaging is adorable!

And I love how organized your space is! I like the Starbucks cup ahha

  4. ニッキー says:

I saw those bath salt in Cosmeland when visiting family. Did not buy though. I think I am picky about salt choices, but maybe will try sometime. I mainly worry about ingredient quality.

Good work in your cubicle! Little touches can really make even work more comfortable. :)

    • jenny says:

Well definitely understandable. There are cheap ones out there that are just… meh. Bison isn’t one of those brands. It’s also why they tend to be pricer.

  5. MacaronTea says:

Oh wow, what you’ve done with your space is quiet inspiring! I have the same white lacy floral pot too, it’s so pretty. ^_^

  6. Mary says:

I’d buy those hair ties too!! Recently I’ve been trying to find nice, but simple ones. It’s hard!
I love love love love love LOVE your work space. Doesn’t seem like one at all xD

    • jenny says:

Ah well if you see these in a boutique or something I LOVE them! They are my GO-TO ties and even when I just bring one on my wrist and don’t wear it I don’t feel like it’s a waste :D

Ah yea, my office before looked REALLY “office’y” boring. I’m glad it looks more homey now. Makes me cool with having to sit at it for 40 hours a week!

Hello! (first time commenting, but I’ve been a reader for a while)

I just want to say in general that your blog is amazing and that you’re an inspiring person in many ways.

On the other hand, your cubicle looks great!
I work as well at an old, gray government building and you’ve lightened up your space with nice and simple details.
I wish there was an Ikea over here!

    Greetings from Mexico!

    • jenny says:

      Hello fellow boring-building-worker!! :D

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts about my blog. I really.. it means a lot to me and is a good reminder on days I don’t feel like updating or feel like I don’t care!! Thank you!

  8. chiihime says:

Nice hair tie color! Good choice! I love playing with hair accessories and I really think being comfortable is priceless. Sometimes I have headaches because of hair tie too…

  9. ★Momo☆ says:

Haha same! I just restocked my Bison bath salts the intense sweat ones lol. I’ve been looking at those new ones lately, and haven’t really decided to get them. A quick question, what do they smell like? It’s just certain smells kinda put me off. (;´ρ`)

  10. Polly says:

I agree about how organizing can give such a refreshing and energizing boost! I love the candy bowl, tiny treats in cute little bowls are so sweet :)

    • jenny says:

Ah thanks! Yeah it’s a bowl I put small candy in or other food because it’s a real dish bowl. I put snacks (I empty potato chip bags or 100 calorie packs) into the white dish a lot too! Simple change but nicer than eating it directly from the bag!

  11. Mika says:

    I really love how the design of the bath salt packages are so cute! :) And those hairties are totes adorbs, but $12?! That’s so expensive, but I guess sometimes, we really can’t help ourselves. ;__;

    • jenny says:

Yeah it was a splurge, they were so pretty. I felt guilty at first but when I started using them I was SO glad. They are just the right size for my hair, don’t pull my hair out, and are soft and sweet to wear on my wrist. I love them & will totally spend another $12 on them!

  12. sukipooki says:

Wow you go through those bath salts like crazy! I wish I could do that too but I always get too lazy to bathe and just end up showering lol I love IKEA! Sometimes bf and I just like to go there and shop around and dream about our future home hahaha but I agree with you, I think clutter in general will give off bad vibes =)

Hahaha I think it’s going to take me some time to go through the stuff I bought too! But that’s the beauty of one part and the horrible thing is that even if we have something new and unopened we still buy more! LOL

  13. Leslie says:

Those hair ties are sooo lovely! I always think it’s better to spend more on something that’s pretty and functional rather than skimping and hating whatever it is that was more affordable and “practical” but not used as much.

And I love your work space. Government offices can be really sterile looking but I think you’ve managed to inject your aesthetic into your work environment!

    • jenny says:

Ugh agreed!!! I’m finding that out more & more. In the long run I spend less b/c I’m not constantly trying to find smtg “cheap” that I “love!”

  14. mommo says:

    aaw so cute! how cute!!
I’m collecting a large amount of money right now.
but you really made me wanna buy one!!
    Arrr what to dooooooooo :p

  15. Ai says:

In Japan right now… tried the Bakkantou “creamy” foamy bath salt (in “Princess Fruity” lol) the other day! Definitely pink and girly– and I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of bubble (foam, I guess) it produced.

Love the natural theme of your cubicle!

    • jenny says:

That’s how I felt about it! It’s soooooo girly princess type spa bath really! And yeah, the foam really gives you that special spa feeling!

I see you used 湿気でホットアイマスク too!! I’M SO GLAD YOU LIKED THEM!

  16. Thao says:

Oooh I love looking at your office decor. It’s so pretty and the workspace looks very cozy and inviting. It’s inspiring me to clean up my workspace this weekend.

    • jenny says:

Thank you! Yeah the lamp really makes it feel cozy. I used to want it to be only functional and not look like my space at all. But I give in, this is much better liking sitting here than hating it LOL

  17. Ima says:

Love your cubicle! Looks so nice and clean, my cubicle is an absolute mess. haha papers everywhere!
I might try to pretty mine up with some nice tea canisters though, that’s a great idea.

    • jenny says:

Haha that was where mine was too. Just like, mess mess mess strictly business up in here! I used to not care but I wanted to try making it more of a “me” space and so far it’s made me a lot happier and the days go by more quickly :)

  18. Tori says:

Your cubicle is just too much ♥ Mine is so plain compared to yours, haha! You’ve given me so much inspo though~
Those hair ties are really pretty too & worth the $$ I’m sure, haha!

    • jenny says:

I seriously need to find a “cubicle decor mook” or something. Something realistic to go by!! I was thinking of buying fabric to cover the maroon panels but figured that would be a bit … much. Hahaha. I don’t want to like overdo it because it IS a work space but seriously just the little lamp alone is such a calming & focusing effect! I’m pretty happy with it, it was AWFUL before.

  19. Lapinou says:

Your cublicle is beautiful, very “zakka”. :)

  20. Ashlotte says:

Oh my goodness your work space is so cute!! So springy! You’ve inspired me to go decorate for Spring!!

    • jenny says:

Really!? AWESOME! Yeah I was really channeling spring here, I’m ready for spring! Even though now the snow is starting :P

      • Ashlotte says:

Seriously! Though, I have to admit I’d be pretty excited for snow, it would make me feel like this winter accomplished something haha so if you get snow send it a few hours down this way pleaaaase!

  21. Vickyy says:

Ahh so many bath salts! So jealous! Haha I usually only buy mine from P-Mall, three at most ^^; They don’t have a large selection but they have the new ones and the classic ones at least :3 I was just wondering, how much water do you usually use when using the Bison bath salts? Just because I am not fluent in Japanese so I can’t fully comprehend the package xP My mum has a huge soaker tub so it can get quite full. I just want to get the maximum thickening effect tbh :P Also do you put it in at the end, or while the tub is being full? Sorry for the random questions haha I am just only recently getting into this wonderful product and want to make sure I am getting the best from it :P But omg yes THANK YOU for introducing this to me! How did I ever live without it!? Haha :P

    • jenny says:

Well to get technical the package lists 180L which is a little over 40 gallons. Typical tubs hold around 40 gallons but it sounds like maybe yours is more like mine which is a 60 gallon. So for full thickening effect I wouldn’t fill it completely to the top. These sweat baths are also more suited for waist-high water where you’re just sitting up right in the tub (like the typical Japanese tub) instead of sinking down into the water for a soak. But honestly it doesn’t matter that much, there’s not really a strict MUST. I usually fill my whole tub up unless I really want the bath salt to be concentrated. I find I sweat either way so I’m not picky.

I do add mine in AFTER the water is done

  22. when I see how tidy you’ve got it I really feel like I need to clean my desk…. it’s an inferno. (✖╭╮✖)

  23. Miho-chan says:

Yay, another bath salt review, I love these entries so much =)))

  24. Kei says:

    Long-time lurker here! OTL;;

    So many bath salts, amazing~! ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

I love your work space. It looks so fresh and sweet! You really perked it up. Reminds me that I need to organize my own stuff~

  25. Cindii says:

o0o look at all those bath salts!

I’m really impressed with how simple Ikea items can make a cube looks so homey.

  26. Michelle says:

I really need to pick me up some bath salts, but it’s probably not a good idea for me to do that when I share my bath tub with my younger brother. Who knows what he does in the shower ~_~ I love love love your cubicle!! It makes it feel super homey! ^_^

  27. Jenii says:

Ah! The hairties are really cute :D Ahhh!! I love all the colors and packaging of the bath powders! (wish I had a tub ;__; )

AHHHH!! I was totally eyeing those lace-trimmed planters when I was IKEA! Super cute and with all the “life” and romantic motifs, it really brings warm to an otherwise, cold interior :D Love it!

  28. L says:

So many bath bath salts! I recently restocked on soap… 15 different soap bars lol.

I love your office space. Its bigger than i imagined. :)

    • jenny says:

Oh soaps! Very nice! Ah yeah my cubicle is probably like 10×8sqft or something. It’s not too bad actually. The building has much smaller ones so I shouldn’t complain LOL

  29. Courtney says:

Jesus so many salts! Was that just one order??

and yay your cubicle turned out really cute!!

  30. Veronica says:

    I love your work space!

  31. Sami says:

Your bath salts look great, I need to get more :O

  32. Shmuberry says:
