Spring Shopping
Monday March 04, 2013
I mentioned wanting to go shopping on Tumblr last week and this weekend I did.

I got 3 things.
- Skinny Denim
- A Blazer
- A Dress
I just feel like the thought of spring is coursing through my veins lately! I want to reorganize my wardrobe but the weather is still in the 20’s so I’m in a state of suspension. I’ve packed away a few heavy things I’m done with. Extra sweaters, sweater dress, thicker oxfords.
Man I felt so good after shopping Friday night. Criminally good. I ended my Madewell ban (mainly because I only buy Madewell denim) and I made the plunge to buy something off my wishlist I’ve wanted for easily over a year.

First, denim. Arg, I go on & on about how I rarely wear denim. I have 1 pair of blue jeans that I bought over a year ago at Madewell. Rail straight. I just don’t usually feel good in pants. I often feel suffocated.
That’s almost a lie though because my black skinnies I wore on a weekly basis but they’re more like jeggings.

But now it’s March. And just like last year at this time I’m suddenly done with my black skinnies until next Autumn. It’s this feeling that washes over me and I just CAN’T put them on anymore. They’re cold-weather pants and I want the damn sun!
And maybe it’s all the Supernatural denim-clad’ness or maybe it’s Rinka in all her denim embracing “otona” style but GD I wanted a pair of skinny denim again. I haven’t had a pair in over a year. So I figured 1 pair of denim a year from Madewell is nothing to feel guilty over, haha. So I picked up the canister wash of their Skinny Skinny Ankle. My Rail Straight from them is the dusty blue wash so I wanted some variety in the two pairs of jeans I own (hahaha!)

While there I tried that Bistro Dress I’ve heard a lot of raves about. The fit is as good as they say! Madewell dresses are usually too long all over for me but this one is perfection. I picked it up because I figured I could dress it down for the office and dress it up for this semi-casual wedding I have next month. Plus it’s RED. Mmm, my favorite color.

Then I went to Jcrew. I had wanted a Schoolboy Blazer for, hmm, a year and even passed over one during a decent sale. But also I had wanted a classic grey blazer (this is why I never bought the Schoolboy one, something wasn’t quite perfect about it.) I tried on the Super 120’s gray blazer and the fit was just… it looks better on me than on the hanger and that rarely happens!

Maybe because I felt I really had reached a place where I shop more responsibly (less impulse, less waste) or maybe because I always buy myself something for my birthday (next month,) but I was really into buying it. I walked away to think about it and tried on a few blazers at Nordstroms & Zara to compare. Ended up going back and getting it and the damn thing was $50 off! It didn’t give any indication of sale & wasn’t on sale online (I checked before buying it in store hahah.)
Lucky, lucky! :)

Oh, I love Madewell. I didn’t have a chance to go there when I was in the US :(
That red dress looks so pretty.

I cant ever get over how rarely you wear jeans!!! And you certainly should NOT feel guilty over one pair of madewells a year! my issue with madewell jeans is that I have to hem them… (but I havent tried the ankle length so maybe those are perfect). You must post a picture of you in the blazer!! Cant wait to see how you style such a classy piece!

Haha, I swear fashion-wise some times we are the same person! I’ve been eyeing both the Skinny Skinny from Madewell AND the Schoolboy from J. Crew for months. Good buys!

:O The red dress!♥
I dunno why, but it looks damn good on these photos on your blog.. and then on their website, it looks real horrible and plain :o I would’ve totally skipped it on their website thanks to their ugly pics :D I guess this means you know how to take photos of clothes and make them look super pretty ^^
