Hair Ribbon

Thursday, 1/22 [2009] // 50 Comments

Hair ribbons [ヘアリボン] (meaning bows literally styled out of ones hair) have been popping up all over magazines. From JJ to Zipper. Karme then sent me this video last week.

video creator found here

This has been the best tutorial I’ve seen thus far for creating this look. That said I must say in order to achieve the ribbon using this method you need hair as long and as thick as the model. I tried it out myself. You might wonder, “why no photo then?” Well, my hair is about long enough, but thickness wise my hair is MUCH too thin. My first attempt was fair, it looked decent so I thought, “I’LL REDO IT AND IT’LL BE PERFECT MY SECOND TRY!” wrong. Each attempted yielded a worse and worse outcome. So, no photo. I’d suggest trying the Zipper example found below if your hair differs from the above video in any way. The other photos offered no “how to.”

First sighting in Ageha of course~

Ahh teh cuteness

I’d love to do this, since my hair is wavy, but I just don’t think I have the patience, haha

It’s amazing what one can do with hair. But man, that girl make it look so easy. I would never be able to achieve that in my life time. Even if I had the length and thickness.

Well, now if that’s not incentive for me to hurry up and buy a new full head of extensions I don’t know what is. I wonder if it would actually look ridiculous though.

but wow, the model’s hair in the video really looks perfect.love the color too

Aww my hair is definitely thick enough, but not long enough. I’m trying to grow it out, but the ends end up getting damaged and then I have to cut off all of my progress. *u*

Extensions would probably help, but my hair is auburn right now & I can’t find any to match. I also don’t want to go back to brown *just* yet.

But still, the style is soooo cute!!!

I’m not sure how I feel about this style, lol! It looks cute enough on the models, but I’m not sure how it would translate ‘in real life’… I think the last photo probably has the most ‘mainstream’ version of this style.

I’m so sad I can’t do this to my hair because although it’s long ang thick enough, it’s also all iregular (cut in layers) XD

WHOAAA! That’s so crazy!! I don’t think I can do that with my hair either.

That is SO CUTE, but my hair is really thin and I have no volume at all. ;_; And my hair isn’t as long as the model. I’m trying to grow it out though but it doesn’t seem to be growing much. I think maybe I need to go to the hair salon and get a trim. XD

Btw, I love the model’s hair the hair colour. Makes me want to dye my hair dark brown too. lol!

Sadly, I could never pull this off.

I first saw it on Lady Gaga, which I thought was pretty interesting. Didn’t know it was such a big trend in Japan!!

I almost want longer hair…in the case of not having enough (thickness-wise) hair, one should TEASE TEASE TEASE. It’s hard to explain but it’s an updo technique!! I’ll have to try this on my mannequin….

ITS SO CUTE
i mean the video girl’s hair, her hair is so nice
i have uber short hair, so i guess i am out of the loop
maybe i can make a smalll bow
*waves fist*
i guess i’ll have to patiently grow my hair out then =_= even then it’ll be too thin to do it

January 24, 2009 @ 2:50 pm

Wow…that’s something else. I like the last girl’s example best, just a little ribbon on the top. I do have to say the third girl’s make up is freaking me out! They’re trying to make her eyes look bigger than they really are…@_@;

Wow, that’s so different but cute at the same time. I wish I had thicker hair because then I’d be able to pull it off then. The small bow intrigues me though.

I just wanna say thank you because I had lost the URL to the model’s blog when my other PC died. I’m so happy I can check out her blog again. She has the coolest hair & nail tutorials!

Thank you!

ughhh dentist

04/09 | 10:50 am

I have to take an hour off work to go BACK to the dentist. I really dread it. I just want to switch dentists but the work they did needs to be fixed first. I really hate them. They even try to tell me the tooth I say hurting should be a different tooth... wtf??! And I've had 3 bite readjustments already and I think I have to get another today b/c they suck at doing it! UGH. Did I even need a crown!? geezus *cries*
I'm trying to not get overtly upset over it all but I have tooth pain daily. I just want to be able to eat properly again.

(comment?)

Waiting~
