ParaDo Surprise Gift!

Monday, July 6th, 2009 | 60 Comments

My sweet friend sent me a surprise package today.
It was an adorable bag filled with trinkets!
She also included a cute inspirational card to cheer me on :noki4:
She knows how busy I’ve been and working so hard that she wanted to cheer me up~~
I love the hand mirror! I’ve been wanting a big one like this! And it’s all such fun sophisticated princess style

A hand mirror and compact mirror!! Plus nail polishes and lip gloss! All from ParaDo

Nail polish and lip gloss! ALL glittery!

Getting back to work after the holiday was hard! I wanted just 1 more day to enjoy relaxing. On Saturday we went out and ate instead of staying in and making hot dogs or something. It was really great! I even celebrated with a margarita I put my hair up in a big bun since it was looking awful that morning. I also wore this marine-style onepiece. I really like it, but I feel like it makes my chest look ginormous

I switched from heels to flip flops when we went to watch fireworks in the field . Yea, and ignore my bizarre facial expressions, LOL :haha:

I have better photos but my digital is downstairs LOL.
I bought these 60 calorie chocolate sticks as a treat. Yet to try them but they’re just typical Hershey’s chocolate just in portion control.

モモエリの作り方 and Cawaii’s ヤセて Diet Book~~!

I ordered Momoeri’s tutorial book & Cawaii’s diet book from last year. They both have DVDs with them Sadly I haven’t time to even look at the DVDs :whaaaaaat::F
So I’ll share more about them later this week. I’m excited to have the diet book because I have 1 place for a bunch of great exercises to reference!

My diet’s going… well, phenomenally!
It got a lot easier when I started tracking what I ate through the Livestrong site. If I count the weight I lost starting in May I’ve lost in total 11 lbs [4.9kg] this summer! The weight I’m at now I told myself I’d be OK with. BUT I think I really can get back to my normal weight that I was when I was in college! You see, when I went from living in a dorm and eating cafeteria food to living in an apartment and eating NOTHING but fast food… I gained 20 lbs! Literally in 1 year. It was really annoying. I went up 3 pant sizes which sucked because I was broke and buying new jeans was expensive! Hahahahahaaaa. But then I just never tried to get rid of that weight after getting a real job and eating healthier, home cooked foods again. So it’s just sat there

I know there’s things I’m never doing again. :breakfast:

I’m never going to drink non-diet soda (ok maybe just 1 once a year! I gotta have a Barq’s root beer fully sugared at least once a year! )
Sugar Free Jello at 10 calories is my new BFF
Buying 2L bottles of Green Teas is TOTALLY worth the price (at 0 calories it wins over my old choice of GATORADE!)
Dreamfields Low Carb pasta and Shirataki noodles are LOVE
Egg beaters make amazing Santa Fe omelets at only 80calories! Fill you up!
Steamed cabbage is the shit and I’ll never tire of cabbage & dumpling soup! (so low cal!)
Chocolate on a daily basis is insanity and I can’t believe I allowed myself such gluttony!!

Um, I think that’s it for now! :hii1:

I’m going to get ready for bed now~!

Hhahaha - great gift and — yay, fireworks!

I’ve been so lazy with my exercise regime! Really need to get back into it! I’m such an uberslacker that I can’t be bothered to really get up and exercise, although with my work schedule, I know it’s really important that I do! /fail

Any tips?

Mmmm I’ve found 2 things work for me.
1. Don’t set expectations too high & always have a list of alternatives. So on days I don’t do serious work out like TaeBo I either take a short walk after dinner OR force myself to take a hot bath for a least 20 minutes that night. Also cleaning up the house burns calories too, haahaa

2. Exercise can be done any time! Like when brushing teeth or putting on makeup in front of the mirror. I tend to do leg raises to tone my thighs instead of just stand there for the 2 minutes it takes to brush teeth. Or while watching TV I’ll lie on my side and do leg lifts or mindlessly lift 3 or 5 lbs dumbbells (you can get real cheap at most stores.)

Maybe that’ll help?

The princess mirror is just LOVE! I used to adore anything “princessy” and guess what? I still do haha..

Oh and the bun is TOTALLY cute! Whenever I try putting my hair into a bun it’s always so SMALL!! I’m not sure if that’s just because I have very thin hair or if I’m doing something wrong :( Hey, do you think you could post a tutorial on that hair style??

jenny said
July 7, 2009 @ 9:09 am

There are some here:
http://sushi-cat.net/2007/05/31/hair-buns/

But I’ll look into seeing any newer ones to scan in. I will say my hair is super thin. After i make the ponytail I spray sections with hairspray then tease the underside with a comb! Then wrap it & pin it! Gives the illusion of thick hair! Or else my bun would be barely noticeable . None of those tutorials I think show how to do that.

What a great friend you have for sending you all those gifts! The princess mirror is LOVE. So cute and elegant.

You look so cute in the first picture with your hair tied up in a bun. Just a question: do you fix your mirror photos to make them brigther with photoshop or do they naturally come out as bright like that when you take them? Because whenever I take photos in front of the mirror, they end up looking all blurry and dark. I’ve been thinking maybe it’s because of the lighting in my room and I was considering of getting a new light to put on top over my mirror.

jenny said
July 7, 2009 @ 9:21 am

It depends. If I take the pic in the afternoon while the sun’s shining through my window, no fixing needed. But if I’m using my Blackberry (& not my digi camera) and there’s no direct sunlight it tends to turn out a bit dark so i just do a quick lighten in Photoshop. I created an actionscript in PS so I just have to push a button & tada! Ready to post

Congrats on your diet progress! I wish I could lose 11 lbs. But since I don’t have the willpower to diet (I love food too much) I’ve mainly been trying to jog more.

Cabbage is GREAT. It doesn’t get the positive attention it deserves. Since it’s getting warmer, have you tried making cold pickled cabbages? Kinda like quick kimchi. It’s really refreshing and if you make it spicy, it’s so good as a side to just plain brown rice.

Here’s quick recipe for it: http://www.justhungry.com/quick-and-spicy-chinese-cabbage-tsukemono-or-pickle-hakusai-no-sokusekizuke

That’s so sweet of your friend! Do you send her little gifts in exchange as well? C:

Just like Maiko said, I always use the bun hairstyle for school days. Mainly my lazy mornings.

I just found out that I lost 8 lbs since last summer, however once I found that out I, for some reason, totally binged. I’m pretty sure I gained 2 of those lbs back. -_-

jenny said
July 7, 2009 @ 9:25 am

Yea, we send each other gifts on holidays but mostly gifts “just because.”

Yea, I’m a tad worried about bingeing when i get to my parents! LOOOL but usually they tend to eat 3 square meals a day and don’t have snacks around. Plus now if I do indulge (like with the pizza) I get SO sick that I just don’t feel that urge.

Yeah, I really like LiveStrong. I thing it is the one of the easiest way to jump start and continue a program. It’s amazing how many people dislike counting calories though even if it is the best way to go.

Keep up the good work

Yay, がんばって Jenny! Wow, chocolate every day?! I can’t eat a lot of chocolate because I don’t like sweet things that much, so my vice is potato chips. I can totally relate to what you said about college vs real job stuff. I put on like, 10 kilos when I had a desk job. Then I quit to go to Uni and I still have those 10 kilos! I want to get back to being about 45kgs but I don’t have the drive you do T_T So jealous!

The mirrors are totally gorgeous! I want a new handheld one too… And maybe a compact :3

omg how did you get rid of the habit eating chocolate every day?
u need to tell me!!i’ve never succeeded in that….
um isn’t that jello expensive(japanese brands)?i do also recommend weetabix for breakfast, hardly 80-190kcal^^

jenny said
July 7, 2009 @ 9:45 am

It was REALLY hard to break my choco habit! Because I’d drink hot green tea & enjoy godiva chocolates or some other chocolate every day at work! So I changed to hot black teas instead for a while which helped kick the habit.

Nah, I do have some of those MOST Japanese Jellies and they are like $2.50 a bag, but the 10 calorie jelly I’m talking about is American Brand JELL-O 10 calorie cups Very cheap.

Hehe I eat chocolate every day - but only one small bar, which is only 6g of fat, so I don’t feel too bad I’m so happy for you losing weight. You’ve worked so hard for it so I think it’s great Ray told me last night that I was losing weight. I think it must be the illness.

The gifts your friend sent are so pretty. That was so kind of her. I am very jealous of your hand mirror. It is just like what a princess from a fairy story would use

Yay! Way to go!!!

The sugar free jello really is the way to go - I broke my diet by adding fat free whipped cream on top, which technically is fake sugar and I’m not supposed to add it - BUT WHATEV haha It’s yummy

My friends are trying to make me eat natto to lose weight - but I just can’t bring myself to eat that stuff :(

jenny said
July 7, 2009 @ 9:50 am

Ack, Mike keeps telling me to put that stuff on my JELL-O!! I actually did put that low fat Reddi Whip on a waffle last week, haahaa.

I’m so intrigued by natto. Yet to try, know all about it though and it’s pushed a lot in the diet pages. But I know I’ll either love it or it’ll make me wanna vomit. Haahaa. So I just stare at it in the freezer aisle.

oh man i was the same way, i was super skinny entering high school and then because of stress and just lack of time i was eating junk food. i gained 20 lbs and am now trying to work it off. i don’t like this thing though, because for my height (5′2″ doctors and what not try telling me that my weight should be at 110 lbs. But my frame is not built to be that small, I am naturally a curvy person. I am aiming for 130, which seems like a healthy weight for me.

oh I am totally trying that green tea then. 0 cals is just too good to pass up. I drink gatorade g2 which is 100 cal per bottle, but a whole 2l of green tea with nothing? awesome~

is the green tea you drink sweetened at all? maybe with honey or something? sometimes just green tea is a bit hard to drink.

jenny said
July 7, 2009 @ 11:26 am

I’m a bit of a tea purest so I never add sugar. I’ll recommend Ito En Jasmine Green Tea because it’s got a sweet jasmine flavor. I’ve tried G2 and it’s OK. I’m still a bit *blegh* to fake sugar taste but I’m building a tolerance. But it’s just easier to drink something I like that has 0. Other teas I buy in 2L are Suntory’s Oolong and Coke’s Sokenbicha Barley Tea

And yea, everybody’s body is different! I think as long as you can get to a place where you’re happy and you feel good physically it’s good. And DAMNED be stress weight!!!

have you thought about just trying to lose fat instead of weight?

I think losing fat would be much healthier than losing weight … I’ve been needing to lose my fat. Even tho I’m 115 that fat percentage is woooosh! through the roof. Much more unhealthy. :/

I’m not on any “type” of diet really. Just eating smarter like diet soda, sugar free jello, fresh fruits, or low fat chips. Not eating after dinner too!
