Earthquakes ‘n Stuff

Friday, July 16th, 2010 | 35 Comments

So I’m super tired already. For non-twitter followers (sorry twitter followers that see my annoying tweets!) there was a 3.6 earthquake in DC at 5am this morning. Woke up to the sound of loud rumbling followed by a few seconds of a hard shake. Nothing serious. No damage, just some things shifted in our cabinets, LOL. And an extremely confused Mike & I running outside in our PJs, haahaa. Probably not the best thing to do after an earthquake…
BUT I DIDN’T KNOW IT WAS ONE! My first

THANK GOD FOR TWITTER!
I had to verify that it was INDEED an earthquake through twitter since the news is sooooo lagged! STUPID NEWS!

Anyway. So I’m really tired but I wanted to blog some photos from yesterday (no wait, Wednesday? I forget now) but didn’t get around to it….

Went out after work for some quick Tex Mex!
It’s sorta a dark restaurant huh? Later, we got frozen yogurt & rosewater flavored french macarons!

These aren’t really relevant, I just wanted to say I’m loving eating these freeze dried strawberries as “chips” and it’s like 130 calories for the entire bag. They’re tart & tasty!

This isn’t really relevant either, but, I saw these overalls online today and I just loooooooove them! So freakin’ cute! Cargo pockets really take me back! Haahaa!

I’m off to bed! Well, actually I’m off to try out a new eye make look quickly… on one eye…. then I’ll wash it off & go to bed! hah!

I remember the first time I felt an earthquake here in Japan. Well the Japanese people don’t consider something as the one I felt an earthquake, but it was to me. And it’s so strange right? Like the earth suddenly become a waterbed. I’m really glad to hear you were alright and none of your possessions were damaged.

I like to remember life before twitter… haha!

Tex mex! Fro yo! Macarons! Woman, you trying to kill me?? I will go eat my salad seaweed now TT

Those overalls are totally you for real! They are going to look so cute on you, so I think you need to buy them You have so many items that would match!

glad it was more exciting than it was scary!! the earthquakes we get here aren’t big at all, and i only knew about them b/c we had a hanging light in our old house that would swing back & forth when there was one haha

overaaaaalls i love the first pair!! so much fun…i’m still caught up with ones that are shorts, though. LOVE THOSE. i’m in love with shorts recently….

GOD I LOVE THOSE OVERALLS AND I’M NOT EVEN AN OVERALL LOVER. I have barely come to terms with them again after my childhood! ohohoho~ Yeah, earthquakes are so baffling when you’re not expecting them, right?? We had a tiiiiiny one in high school during the middle of the night and most people were still like D: ?!!??!?! I mean, it’s pretty obvious what it is, when you sit and think about it after the fact. Plus, we have tiny earthquakes from tectonic shifts all through the day, we just don’t necessarily notice~

LOL you remind me of my co-worker who is from DC. When she felt her first earthquake here in cali she freaked out and everyone around her was so calm. I love overalls but I always look like I’m going to paint a house or something when I wear them. They look like they have a boyfriend fit to them, so trendy. MMMM rosewater macarons

~ I remember my first earthquake in japan ;D

I thought a train passed by real close in the middle of night, .. but few hours later I woke up and remembered that I was in the middle of a tiny peninsula in Ehime and that there are NO trains nearby. ;D
I was up and scared the whole night..

The rest of 2 weeks I kept asking everyone what do I have to do when earthquake comes. I still have no idea ;P

Rosewater flavor? I don’t think I’ve tried that before.

And good time nothing was damaged and nobody was hurt from the earthquake. I have yet to experience one. All I know is something about running to the bathtub?!? Not even sure if that’s right.

I really really love those overalls. I used to wear one in 3rd grade and that was the last of it. I like the sporty look that you can pull of with these thanks to the cargo pockets. However, nobody wears overalls here and I’m not brave enough to be the first. ^^;;

Yea, I think it was just their fancy way of saying rose flavored b/c it tasted like anything flavored rose

The only earth quake I’ve ever been in was during my fourth year in elementary … I thought it was fun in your and Mike’s defense it was really, really early in the morning so running outside confused isn’t that bad of a decision… lol

Alllllll of my pants used to be cargo pants when I was little ahhh nostalgia

It was a bad idea to check your blog so late ;___; *is hungry* have you tried freeze dried apples, mangoes and bananas!?!? so delicious~

That’s so strange! A few weeks ago we had a 5.7 earthquake in Toronto (which was felt in Quebec and parts of the states too =.=). I didn’t even know we got earthquakes in Canada

Honeydew said
July 17, 2010 @ 8:17 pm

I felt that earthquake in Toronto too! I didn’t even know it was one because earthquakes almost never happen in Canada. I was actualy in my washroom blowing my hair that day when it happened and I thought it was actually caused by a big truck passing by my street LOL!

jenny said
July 17, 2010 @ 9:03 pm

I thought about the recent earthquake too when ours happened! Crazy stuff!!

Honeydew said
July 17, 2010 @ 9:46 pm

The moment it happened, people immediately updated their facebook status with “earthquake in toronto, wtf?!” Some even wrote comments about how they SLEPT THROUGH the earthquake when it happened. LOL! Well, it was merely just for a few seconds that it happened, but I also heard from others that things fell down from their house and got broken.

(Comments wont nest below this level)
